Quoted for truth. what annoys me about some americans is their "Everyone hates us because we're awesome" attitude. I once saw one post the following sentence on another forum: "Why do all the europeans hate us? Is it because we're christian and europeans hate christians?"
I still can't decide whether to laugh or cry

You can't say all americans are stupid, the little kid on that first vid at least knew what the capital of Hungary is....we had someone in our class who thought Brazil was in Africa (and that was in year 9)
Yeah, and McCain is way too old...
If thats the only problem you've got with this guy
If he becomes president we'll get WW3, although I think he'll be assasinated the same day by some Iranians...
Maybe you should re-examine your paper topic and choose something less offensive. How about cultural stereotypes and there effect on international relations? Every country has them, so why not examine them in detail.
In regards to your original post, I'm sure that you can imagine why Americans would be defensive about this "poll." Just as you would be offended by a poll insulting your country (whichever it may be). The broad portrayal of any class, race, religion, or country is dangerous and should be avoided.
As to the globalization argument, the US trade deficit is enormous. We import hundreds of products from around the globe including cars, tvs, computers, and agricultural products. We don't just eat mexican food once a week.
I'm proud to be an American and it saddens me that people would be so shortsighted to stereotype an entire population of millions of people just because they watched a few americans on some youtube video.

I have sort of the same feeling. I have some american friends and I don't think USA are stupid( could discuss their education system, but that's for another time ), but the thing that annoys me too is the we are the best attiude some of them have. I mean those people claim america is the most democratic country in the whole world...and about 20% voted in the last election, compared to for example 82% here, so which country is more democratic really?
But just an example, and it has nothing to do with if they are stupid or not, it's just the attitude that's annoying me.

I certainly doubt there's anyone here who really thinks that all Americans are stupid. As it has been said a couple of times, every country has their share of idiots, but for some reason American stupidty has become good TV, thus making it some sort of "fact" - although it's not.

Look at the first post... It's not a question of proving that Americans are stupid or not... It's a question of getting to bottom of the reasons why they are portraid as such...
I'll admit... The title of the topic is somewhat offensive at first sight but that's the only way I could call people to this thread and make them participate... And it seems to be working... I'm really not interested in the results of the poll but, again, it did call more people to the thread... It may seem a bit of a cold approach to the subject, but then again I am majoring in business...
