The transfers season is over for 1t4i. It has been a normal transfers window for the team with some riders leaving the team and some joining it.
Let's have a look at who left the team in the previous days.
Luis Leon Sanchez Gil
Despite a very good 2013 season, Luis Leon only stayed with us for one year. One of the main reasons that he won't continue with the team is that there's not a lot of time left until he'll start declining. He has joined the newly promoted team Rothaus Aegon, where he should an even bigger role than with our tema.
Peter Velits
Velits had a decent season with Project 1t4i even though he missed the top 10 in both Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France. His move wasn't in our initial plan but, in the end Becherovka - Kiwibank's offer of swapping him for Sergio Henao was too good to be refused.
Kristoff Vandewalle
It's the second time Kristoff Vandewalle will leave our team. Again, his move involves a Dutch rider coming into our team. Last time it was Joost Posthuma, this time it is Remco Broers. Hopefully Remco Broers will be prove to be at least half as good as Posthuma was. And also, let's hope BPost won't share La Gazzetta's fate after signing Vandewalle.
Benoit Vaugrenard
It won't be too long until Benoit Vaugrenard will start declining so selling him at this point seemed like the best choice. Benoit had some awesome times with the team, including a fantastic Tour de France stage win.
Jon Aberasturi
The PT is a hat way too big for Jon so hopefully he'll enjoy some good results in the other divisions as he will now be riding for Bacardi in the ProContinental Tour.
Sebastien Rosseler
With his best years behind him, both Seb Rosseler and the team felt that it is time for a change. Hopefully the CT challenge will prove than he still has something left in his legs.
Julien Simon
Last year, Simon was one of our main targets. Sadly, he failed to deliver the results expected from him so he had to find a new team in the transfers window. Hopefully he'll do much better in the PCT.
Johannes Frohlinger
Frohlinger is a pretty nice climber but, with the PT competition it is very hard for him to achieve any notable results. Sadly, he only stayed with us for only a year but, the PCT should be a new beginning for him.
Mohammad Saufi Mat Senan
Mohammad is a very talented rider but, ultimately, he and the team just didn't click. Hopefully the return to Asia will help him achieve the results he is truly capable of.
We saw who'll no longer be part of the team starting with the 2014 season. It is now time to see who are the names that joined the team for the upcoming season.
Sergio Luis Henao Montoya
Henao joins the team as part of the Peter Velits deal. Even though he isn't one of the best riders when it comes to hills or time - trials, he is one of the best riders in the World when it comes to long climbs. He is a very valuable asset for the team especially for the Grand Tours that don't feature hard hilly stages.
Gianluca Brambilla
The Italian just maxed out last year so we don't know his true potential just yet. He could be capable of a top 10 in the Giro d'Italia. If not this year, in the years to come of sure.
Ricardo Van der Velde
Ricardo is a true all-rounder. He should be a very valuable domestique for our leaders in all terrains (mountains, hills, cobbles) but, from time to time he could go for personal glory as well.
Rob Ruijgh
He isn't as "all-rounded" as Van der Velde but, he can climb just as well. And just like Van der Velde he'll get to ride for himself from time to time but, mostly he'll be a climbing domestique for Gesink, Henao or Brambilla.
Remco Broers
Remco Broers is a very talented cobbles specialist and even though he lacks any climbing abilities, he should be Ramon Sinkeldam's main helper for the northern classics.
Bauke Mollema
Mollema was also very close to sign a contract with the team last year as well but, in the end the deal failed. This year though that changed and he will now be riding with us and help his team - mates when the road will start to go up.
Tom Leezer
Tom is a very good domestique that can ride well on any terrain, except maybe mountains. He should be an important rider in our team in any kind of one day races.
Jarlinson Pantano Gomez
After Henao, Jarlinson Pantano is the second Colombian to join the team this season. Just like Henao, he's a very talented climber but, sadly, he is really weak in the race against the clock. Still, this shouldn't stop him from being a great helper in the mountains for the better climbers in the team, especially since he hasn't even fully developed.
Philipp Walsleben
Philipp Walsleben is a talented young German time - trialist that can also ride very well on cobble stones. In fact, in the future this could become his speciality as he is another rider that hasn't reach his maxed potential yet.
Daan Rijntjes
Rijntjes is a decent time - trialist that comes in to replace the spots left opened by the many great time - trialists that have left the team in the last two years. Sadly though, it looks like there's no real train left for Daan to be part of.
Matej Mohoric
Matej Mohoric is one of the most talented young riders in the World and in the future he could become one of the best pucheurs in the peloton. He is too young to ride in the PT though, which means that he will spend the season in the PCT with Team Hornbach, where he'll be learning the 1t4i ways from Matteo Trentin.
