Totally forgot about Vanderbiest being paid that much Smile Quite a showing then, very well needed points for RBC. Congrats!

It's quite funny thinking about it now but he's just hit around 300 points so he's starting to pay the team back in results, well nearly haha.

Team Halfway Review 2014

Intro:

I am not going to lie, 10 days ago I started planning for the CT next season, hopes were down after mediocre results all season and a terrible classics campaign. I remember a period of 4-5 races we turned up and scored nothing. It didn't start all bad though, Johnathon Bellis did what he was brought in to do and completed our first goal at the Gisbourne GP and then came close in another with 4th in the Scandanavian Open. Even doing well at our goal races though we were still 28th a mere week ago in the UCI PCT standings. Onto Taiihu what hasn't already been said by me it was my favourite race I have been involved in my time in the man-game, taking yellow, losing yellow and thinking it's over, winning the stage and yellow back and then the agonizing feeling seeing Lo Cicero 2nd and feeling sure it was 2nd on the GC, before scrolling down and seeing this.....

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/d12_zps280d33e9.jpg

Brilliant.

Onto the future, I see the team having a strong 2nd half of the season for two reasons.

1. Machado is not leading more then 1 race, he's been awful he knows it, I know it just bad leadership by me.

2. Bellis is racing a lot and I mean at least 40% of our races has Bellis, him and Vanderbiest have been so consistent I feel really confident very time there on the road something I lack with every other rider.

So that's what I am hoping but for now have a quick look at what the riders have been up to in terms of results so far..

Win Classic San Sebastian (HC)
Win Scandinavian Open Road Race (C1)- Bellis 4th
Top 5 Eneco Tour (HC)
Top 5 Gisbourne GP (C1)- Bellis 2nd

The Table:

You can see below just the amazing jump we have made thanks to the last week, Hopefully in the next sprinters tour which is the Eneco Tour Romain can continue his form and produce another excellent display. Only criticism is the lack of points socring from everyone but Bellis and Vanderbiest so I hope personally to see some other guys come through with results in the 2nd half of the season.

So now it's over too you reading whoever you may be in the Man-Game or not this is the question zone please don't be scared to ask anything from Man Game related such as "what is my long term plan" to anything stupid like "Which drugs did I pump into Vanderbiest before Taiihu" it really can be anything.

One final thing MG related the amount of Team HQ updates recently has been brilliant and I enjoy reading everyone and try to comment on them all even if sometimes I can't I just want to say thank you to everybody updating for such brilliant updates and look forward to reading the future ones.

Could you please ask Vanderbiest to let Goss win the first stage in the Eneco Tour? I don't care much about the further stages, just don't want to wait until the final day Wink.

Nice report, btw.. Torckler with an interesting note there. Still remember that he was quite a threat in the CT last year, now he's doing well in a whole different way. Was shortlisted by Oz the past two years, glad he found a place, where he's useful though Wink

Guys. Nope.

Also, unsurprisingly, what is your long term plan for Houle? Grin

Can't quite see Vanderbiest beating Goss and Ciolek again but he has been in good form so you never know with Houle my plan is for him to become Ventoso-esque Wink, So hopefully combining the best of both worlds as if he became a punchuer we have Boily and Bellis sprinter we have Boivon so just wanted something a bit different but still with good points scoring capabilities.

He says "Yes as long as they will give me 560k next season" haha and with Torckler I thought he would become a stage hunter this but instead he's just turned into the perfect domestique he has been in the lead group with his leader in every race he has rode without riding for himself yet also giving Vanderbiest some top leadouts when paired with Docker.

Hi all RBC followers just here to give a quick update on what's been going on since we last updated, first off we start with results to start with our goals and we had two near misses in our remaining goal races with Ryan Roth finishing 7th in the Eneco Tour and Bellis 5th but in the winning group at San Sebastian just running out of energy at the end. All in all we have improved towards the end of this season we had Bellis 2nd in the Manx International, Mitch Docker won a stage in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, Christian Meier was 4th overall in the Post Denmark Rundt, Bellis finished 4th in the Taldykorgan GP and then 8th in the Nelspruit Classic. All together we've been performing better

Win Classic San Sebastian (HC) - Bellis 5th
Win Scandinavian Open Road Race (C1)- Bellis 4th
Top 5 Eneco Tour (HC) - 7th Ryan Roth
Top 5 Gisbourne GP (C1)- Bellis 2nd

Obviously it's a thrill to see so many Canadian riders now starting to look like real threats in races with Meier and Anderson always likely to be Domestiques without training the improvement of Boily to now become a team leader is huge to have a Canadian who can actually lead a team the first since Hesjedal could 2 seasons ago now is going to accomplish one of the goals I set when building this team.
Of the riders on their who are of note De Souza is one of only two riders left from the C2 days nearly maxed him now though he will need a PT Loan/Transfer along with Boivon, Houle and Warbesse because of how many of them their is it is likely one will be sold to allow the other to go on loan as i'm not sure if the loan cap will allow me to accommodate them all and their wage could take up space for a maxed rider next year as we aim to push on again.
Anyway enough of me talking below is how they will look next season

So onto the full team and a very early and kind of look into what I am thinking for the team going into the next transfer season:

RiderNationality

Staying 80-100%
Ryan Anderson
Jonathan Bellis
David Boily
Alexandor Cataford
Antoine Duchesne
Romain Vanderbiest

These are the guys I'm looking to build around next year with the strong base in the hills from Bellis and Boily who i'm 99% sure both will stay with the back up of Anderson. Duchesne and Cataford are the two talents I want to keep hold of the most especially Cataford. Vanderbiest is more toward the 80% then 100% depending on if I could get hold of another sprinter and what his wage is after the renewals but more then likely he will stay.

Staying Unless Good offer 55-79%
Guillaume Boivin
Hugo Houle
Charles Matte
Christian Meier
Patrick Naud
Ryan Roth
Sebastian Salas
Lawrence Warbasse

Right to start with Meier, Roth and Salas all sit in the same boat of will stay unless a good offer or I can replace them with another Canadian that comes along same with Matte though he could also be loaned. Houle, Boivon, Warbasse are more in the I like to keep them but depending on if the team develops into looking like we could push for promotion one could be a scapegoat in a deal to bring in a better rider though I'd really love to keep them all. Naud most likely to stay of all these but may go on loan to PT if one would have him and the other loanees don't take all the cap space.

Looking to leave but not fussed if stay 30-54%
Christopher De Souza
Mitch Docker
Peter Pancake
Michael Torckler

Docker and Torckler formed a great leadout this year but they don't really fit with what I want to do with my team and they will be shopped but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they stayed, Pancake the same just he's getting old and if he goes and I can bring in a younger version i'd be happy (cough "Zach Hughes" cough"Wink De Souza would need to be loaned and there might be teams more interested in his development then me.

Looking to sell 10-29%
Kristijan Durasek
Patrick Lane
Marc Machado

Durasek and Machado have been crap basically. Durasek hasn't really fit with the teams sponsors and Machado never shows the teams sponsors. Lane i'd love to keep but i'd have to loan him and I'd much rather bring in another cobbled rider with the money I could from him instead of having another puncheur domestique.

Free Agency
Dominique Rollin

I want Veilleux and I want him to take Rollin's place haha the sprinter TT man just hasn't got a look in this year and he's declining so it's time for Dominique to go.

So that's kind of my mini update as always if you have any questions just ask and my next update is likely to be the end of season Bonanza Grin

Loving the update! Think I might do something similar myself soon, your goal performances look bad on paper but they're all going to be near misses except maybe the standings goal so there's hope Smile

Looking at your list there, I'd say all 3 Frenchmen are on my radar, but none are priority targets so to speak. De Souza has some really nice support stats though Wink

Thanks JPH

The goals look bad but we were soo close in all but probably one of them which is pleasing and de Souza will look very nice in future whatever kit he's inWink

Great overview, like the way the team is progressing. I really like the core of the team you should be in that battle for promotion next year I believe.
I will be interested as always in the 4.00 riders in your team, we'll see how that goes later on Smile

Great to see so many Div2 managers so active in general Grin

Promotion is the aim but i'd really like to get their with a 70-80% Canadian team which will probably halt my progress against other teams though the transfer season can do strange things to you.

Regarding the 4.00 riders I thought there might be one name on their that interested you Wink He is available for the first time probably but it's one of them were any of the 4 could go and that would probably mean the rest stay.

Div2 really seems to have bred some great managers with yourself, JPH, Avin, fjhokie and the list goes on.. still remember the very early battle over Haddou haha

I didn't come from the Div2 Wink

I actually didn't realise you had this many Canadians Embarassed and Durasek could be an option for a domestique for Prevar next season...

Embarassed my bad think I kind of mix yours and Avin's teams together sometimes Smile

Yeah there very unnoticeable at some points haha Smile Boily Grand Tour stage win is the first Canadian Man-Game history I think though Hesjedal may have took one at some point I can't find it anywhere. But hopefully there is more of them to come in the future.

With durasek he is definitely available so we shall seeSmile

Don't think you're going have the Canadians all to your self Wink That said my history with North American riders is sparse so you'll probably be fine

How boring would it be if no one wanted the Canadians hahaSmile It's actually nice to see so many of them got picked up last year I think the national champ will have 8 more riders which is small but a really good step in the right direction.

I am extremely happy to have helped David Boily reach his full potential. He has been amazing at the PT level this season, taking two stagewins, one of them even in a GT. He should be very welcome back if he wants some time during his career. He will be a fantastic PCT leader I reckon.

Laurence Warbasse would be interesting for us, either on a buy or loan term. The frenchies are interesting to some point, but I doubt any of them will have PT potential.

I certainly hope so in his short career so far he's already had 4 stage wins without being maxed so it will be very interesting to see how he goes now he is maxed.

Yeah the frenchies are only going to be PT Super domestiques in time and Warbesse has been quite good as of late as well he's 27th in Volta Portugal at the moment would be interesting to see how he could go in the PT

Interesting to see Mitch Docker could potentially be available. If his wage goes down quite significantly, we are going to be highly interested in him.

Nice to see max-outed David Boily with his stats, he is going to really help your team longterm. I like your Canadian core of the team a lot. It will be really interesting for me what you are going to do with your team in the next few seasons. Smile

Docker is going to be up for sale it's not that he isn't a good rider it's just the fact with so many AUS teams I feel he could be a good trade bait etc.. for the transfer window.

Boily is going to be a main component if we are to make it to the PT at some point and he's always rider i'd love to train if we'd get there and there isn't a GC rider from Canada coming through yetWink same with Boivon but sprinter Smile
