Wage: 60,000
The 28 year old French Climber is one of the climbing leaders riding for our team this year. He is one of the two French riders in the team so he is not alone. He joined the team from Heineken. His good acceleration will definitely help him on the mountains. He will lead or co lead at almost every single one of his races. He shall first be in action at this month's Middle East Tour.

Wage: 200,000
The 28 year old Spanish rider is another one of our leaders. He is a good climber but where we see him taking points is on selective stages which come down to a reduced bunch sprint. His 73SPR and 70ACC should see him flying past the other climbers. He will need to perform this season to show that the wage he is being receiving is not too much. We will see him in the Vuelta a Mallorca and the Middle East Tour this month.

Wage: 60,000
The experienced 30 year old Colombian will also be an important rider for the team this season. His 70TT makes up for his slightly low hill. Last season he performed nicely for Boeing-Vivacom along with Colorado and the duo will stay together this season (thanks TMM for letting that happen) and be rejoined by ex team mate Dueñas, who he rode with at CSC-Orbea. He too will feature for the team in Mallorca and the Middle East.

Wage: 50,000
The team's only sprinter. At aged 26 with 73SPR/ACC we are not expecting very much from him but where he races we are hoping that he can achieve something. He can develop into a 77SPR rider if we decide to keep him next year. A few top 5's or 10's would be a good result from him in his races this season. He doesn't start his season until next month in Langkawi.
Stats:

Wage: 50,000
The 34 year old Colombian arrived with his mate Parra Bustamante from Boeing. He had quite a few good, strong results last season ( 5th GC in Middle East) but ageing has seen him decline quite a bit and in doing so has left him at being a helper not a leader. We do not expect wonders from him but a few breakaways and strong helping would be nice. He starts his season with the Vuelta a Mallorca.
Stats:
FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FIG | DWH | PRO | 65 | 75 | 68 | 67 | 64 | 71 | 70 | 50 | 52 | 70 | 64 | 65 | 67 |
Wage: 60,000
The 33 year old Spanish climber rode for the Lotto-Cervelo team last season. This year he rejoins Colorado and Bustamante, the trio from CSC-Orbea. He brings experience and his good climbing and decent TT ability will certainly help him to make a good contribution to the team this season. He starts his season in Mallorca.
Stats:
FLA | MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FIG | DWH | PRO | 68 | 75 | 69 | 70 | 68 | 72 | 71 | 52 | 60 | 73 | 68 | 59 | 70 |
Wage: 65,000
The 32 year old French rider joins the team from Simply Red Bull. He rode well last season in the Pro Tour so he has some good, much needed experience and he knows how to win. He finished 76th in last year's Vuelta, 70th in the Tour de France and 30th in Paris-Nice. A good all round rider that should be able to score points for the team in breakaways on all stages, except Cobbles. He starts his season in this month's Middle East Tour.

Will be nice to race against Euskaltel - Bavaria in the middle east.
-- You do have a VERY strange goal of 'winning stage 12' in the Middle east.
(Considering your best sprinter has 73 sprint, could pull it off mind you as I don't expect too many sprinters to be present.) |

If last year is anything to go by then I'm not sure it matters.
And I don't think fjhoekie has got over it yet.
Anyway we'll be back to try and repeat last year's podium and our top 5 goal, You'll be glad to know that Scarponi won't be back but I'm sure one of my other riders will try and repeat his trick.

It is not an actual goal but a goal set by me just for this race. Hoping that good sprinters are all abandoned in the mountains.

First Sighting of Our Jersey in a Race
Stages 1 and 2 in the Vuelta a Mallorca were flat and did not suit the team we sent there. However on Stage 2 we saw the great Orange jersey everywhere.
The breakaway came from Spanish rider Moises Dueñas. He went out there determined to show his abilities in front of his home crowd.
Moises in the breakaway as it formed.
He was obviously intent on getting the KOM jersey. He came second in the first two KOM sprints.
He won the third one.
And he won the fourth one giving him the lead in the KOM going into Stage 3.
Last to be caught with 20kms remaining.
Round Up:
We are leading the King of the Mountains.
Delio Fernandez, Julian David Arredondo and Rafael Infantino have not lost time to anyone, except sprinters (bonus seconds). So they are well positioned considering a whole lot of favourites crashed badly on Stage 2 losing a large chunk of time.

You should be. It definitely looks good. I really do not mind that you cant see Bavaria as Euskaltel is the main sponsor and people actually care about them in the cycling world.
Hope we shall see it in action again in the stages to come

Well, after a not very action packed first two months we finally have an exciting month for the team. March sees us race in 5 Stage Races. 2 C2HC and 3 C2.
Tour de San Luis
The 7 day stage race in Argentina is one which suits the team pretty well. With multiple climbing stages we are expecting no less than lots of breakaways. In terms of the GC we have both Jeannesson and Dueñas going there with high hopes of a Top 5 and maybe even better.
Team:
Arnold Jeanesson
Moises Dueñas
Julian David Arredondo
Juan Sebastian Tamayo Martinez
Vassilis Adamou
Denis Menchov
Francisco Colorado
Tour de Langkawi
While we race in Argentina we will also be racing across the world in Malaysia. Although this 10 stage race is dominated by flat sprinter stages it has a few stages where we hope that our climbers will show themselves. We have hopes of a good GC from Fernandez who will be helped most by Moinard. Also hoping for a few points from sprinter, Lobato. Young loanee Verona will also be racing here.
Team:
Delio Fernandez
Amaël Moinard
Samuel Sánchez Gonzalez
Hugo Sabido
Carlos Verona
Juan Jose Lobato
Haritz Orbe
Volta ao Algarve
Quite a big race for our minor sponsor Onda, who are Portuguese so we come here with a relatively strong team with hopes of a good GC. A win would be fantastic but as we don't know who else will be racing there we shall see what we can try and achieve soon. Either way a good GC is definitely hoped for.
Team:
Delio Fernandez
Amaël Moinard
Moises Dueñas
Julian David Arredondo
Rafael Infantino
Samuel Sánchez Gonzalez
Hugo Sabido (Portuguese rider)
Tour de Beauce
The 6 stage race is on during Algarve and we again have hopes for a good GC. We bring a good squad to Canada lead by the Frenchie Jeannesson who will have Tamayo Martinez and a few older riders there as support. We also hope to see the team participate in breakaways.
Team:
Arnold Jeannesson
Juan Sebastian Tamayo Martinez
Vassilis Adamou
Denis Menchov
Francisco Colorado
Carlos Verona
Haritz Orbe
Tour d'Rwanda
To finish our month we head to Rwanda, Africa for the 4 stage race in which we are bringing a strong climbing squad. In terms of leaders we have D.Fernandez, Dueñas and Parra Bustamante. We also hope to be present in breakaways and extremely aggressive. Out of our top Climbers only Jeannesson and Moinard are missing so we expect a very good result here.
Team:
Delio Fernandez
Moises Dueñas
Edwin Parra Bustamante
Julian David Arredondo
Juan Sebastian Tamayo Martinez
Rafael Infantino
Ruben Fernandez

Up till Stage 5 the Tour de San Luis had been a complete failure with no points scored whatsoever and then came the biggest mountain stage of the tour with a horrible climb summiting 20kms before the line. It would be a good chance for the breakaway.
Cyprus Road Race champion Vassilis Adamou joined the BOTD early on in the race. He had lost quite a bit of time on an earlier stage but was only 5'04 behind the race leader.
1.3kms from the summit Adamou launched an attack on the rest of the break but was followed.
Right near the top he attacked again, this time dropping his companions.
8kms to go, all flat to the finish and his lead is 50 seconds over the other 3 of the breakaway.
And he cruises to victory 1'09 ahead of the chasing group.
And with his great performance it moves him up to 5th in the GC 1'01 off leader Castano. What a performance by the Cypriot! He also moves up to 5th in the Points, 4th in the KOM and 2nd in the Young Riders Classifications. With only two stages remaining we are hoping he will hold on to a top 5 or go out and get a podium or a win.

Stage 6 of San Luis
Menchov was in the break of the day
The break was going to win. Menchov had a great chance.
He attacks with 1.8kms to go.
He opened up a comfortable gap.
And Took the second win in two days for the team. That is now 2 out of 10 stage wins for the goal.

The seven day stage race in Argentina has come to an end are we are quite pleased with the results we achieved there and we managed to come away with quite a few points as well.
Stage 1
No one in the team joined the breakaway. Came down to a sprint where Arredondo was best placed of our riders in 20th position.
Stage 2
No one in the breakaway again... Came down to a sprint again where Jeannesson was the best placed of our riders in 12th. Adamou and Colorado were caught out in a split and ended up losing 3'08. A big loss for the young Cypriot who had hopes of a good GC here.
Stage 3
Yet again no riders in the BOTD. Arredondo tried his luck a bit later in the race but that failed. The stage finished with gaps everywhere. Adamou lost more time. While Jeannesson finished over a minute behind the GC favourites.
Stage 4
A 19km time trial. Adamou and Dueñas finished 18 and 19th, Jeannesson not too far behind in 25th.
Stage 5
Finally we have a rider in the breakaway. Today it is Vassilis Adamou, 5'04 behind the GC leader. They were allowed by the Peloton to win and Adamou made a decisive attack near the summit of the climb and then time trialled increasing his gap over the final 20kms to win the stage comfortably by 1'09. Also taking our first win of the season. He also jumps up to 5th in the GC.
Adamou rolls over the line after working hard for his win.
Stage 6
Similar to stage 5, it was going to be a stage to decide the GC. was Menchov from our team to join the breakaway today. They had a lead of 4'20 with 28kms to go. Menchov attacked the other breakaway riders with 1.8kms to go and had what it takes to get over the finish line taking our second win of the season comfortably by 40 seconds and making it two in two days in Argentina. Jeannesson was much better here as well finishing 9th. Adamou lost a bit of time but was still 7th in the GC.
Menchov celebrates his stage win.
Stage 7
Arredondo our best rider in 44th after a bunch sprint.
Overall
GC- After that great stage win and a few decent performances Adamou was the best of our riders taking 7th in the GC. Menchov, after his stage win, and Jeannesson taking 18th and 19th. Youth- Adamou finishes 2nd in this classification after GC's 2nd Beltran. Points- Menchov finishes 5th. KOM- Menchov finishes 5th here as well. Team- We won the teams classification with our Top 5 riders being Adamou, Menchov, Jeannesson, Dueñas and Arredondo (in that order) who all finished in the top 38. Tamayo Martinez was our 6th best in 39th.
Manager's Comment
Watching the team perform here was truly amazing. We are currently struggling in Malaysia so the two stage wins and a good GC placing were great results. We now only need to win 8 more stages this season. Hopefully we round off Langkawi well and I shall see you all in a week's time in Algarve where we want to win the GC.

Your team is starting out almost identical to how CSC-Orbea did in it's first season. No-shows then back-to-back breakaway stage wins. Congrats.
Hopefully your team can continue the success as it went all downhill for the 2012 Team CSC-Orbea after the first few months of the season.

Hello all supporters and followers of the Euskaltel-Bavaria Continental Man Game Team. This is an update of the how the team is going and a few bits and pieces about what is to come.
The team started their season in Spain with the Vuelta a Mallorca which is fitting considering we are a Spanish team. The race was one of 2 C1 races we are participating in this year. The team showed themselves quite well throughout the race with Moises Dueñas coming 4th in the KOM. The team joined the breakaway on most the stages. Delio Fernandez finished 10th on stage 4 and finished 18th in the GC which at least scored us a few points.
The next race of the season was the Tour of the Middle East. Stage 1 nearly saw Moinard take the win but he was caught in the final kilometer and finished 6th. He also finished 6th on stage 2 after a reduced sprint. Unfortunately the rest of the race has been postponed for now so we shall have to wait to inform you what is going on there.
We have finished two races recently where we scored well in one and not too well in the other. The first of these races was the Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia. The team was very active in the breakaway, especially young Carlos Verona. Stage 3 was one of the penultimate stages where Moinard finished 4th from the breakaway, on the same stage Delio Fernandez won the chasing sprint for 6th. Stage 5 was the other important stage and unfortunately Moinard couldn't keep contact with the leaders. Fernandez disappointed as well and finished in a small group behind the GC leaders. Stage 10 was the only other stage where we managed a good position. Surprisingly, from a bunch sprint, Fernandez did very well to finish 4th amongst some of the biggest sprinters in the CT, a good effort from him. He finished 9th in the GC and the team was 7th.
The other race to have finished recently was the Tour de San Luis which was a 7 day stage race in Argentina. The first 3 stages were rather disappointing with Adamou being caught out in a split. Stage 4 was a TT where we had decent performances from both Adamou and Dueñas. Stage 5 saw Adamou join the break of the day. He attacked close to the summit and held his lead all the way to the line after a 20km flat stretch to the line. This was our first win of the season, with this he jumped to 5th in the GC. Jeannesson disappointed on the stage. Stage 6 saw Menchov join the BOTD, an attack with 1.8kms remaining out of the rest of the breakaway lead to our second win in two days. Jeannesson was better on this stage with 9th and Adamou lost a bit of time. Nothing changed on stage 7 and Adamou finished 7th in the GC which is a good effort from him. Jeannesson and Menchov finishing a bit further down. Menchov came 5th in both KOM and points. Adamou came 2nd in the Youth and we won the Teams Classification. Overall a good race for the team in Argentina.
The race which should start pretty soon in the C2HC Volta ao Algarve. This race is important to our secondary sponsor, Onda. Delio Fernandez, Amaël Moinard and Moises Dueñas will be leading the team and if they do not perform then there contracts will come under scrutiny. A big race for our riders and the team.
During Algarve we will also be racing across the North Atlantic Ocean in the Tour de Beauce in Canada. This 6 stage race is also important to the team because we need good results and soon. A stage win or two and a good GC
are the goals here.
Our last race in March is in another different continent. We head to Africa for the Tour d'Rwanda. This 4 stage rather mountainous race is also very important for the team. A good result here is vital as these are the kind of race we need to score points in. A stage win and a podium or top 5 GC are the goals here.
Delio Fernandez- The Spaniard is performing reasonably well at the moment but we need better results from him if we are going to be up high in the standings. This month he will be racing in Algarve and Rwanda. We expect good performances in both races and a few stage wins. We are paying him a lot of money so we expect good results.
Arnold Jeannesson- He has been under performing so far with not even a top 15 in San Luis and only one top 10 finish on a stage. We paid a fair bit of money for him and he is so far been disappointing. We are hoping for a good performance from him in Canada.
Vassilis Adamou- Surprisingly, the Cyprus National RR Champion has been one of our best performers. Winning a stage in Argentina, finishing 7th in the GC and coming 2nd in the Young Riders classification is definitely good for him. He needs to keep up the good performances. We expect a good performance from him in Beauce, with the time trial he should be able to achieve a good GC result.
Edwin Parra Bustamante- As one of our leaders we need good performances from him. So far he has only raced in Mallorca which had hills which did not really suit him. We are hoping for a great result from him in Rwanda because it suits him and we need points.
Overall Manager Comment
For our Mountainous leaders, after the 3 races in March they have about 2 months till they race again so we hope for good performances in these races. Anything less than top 5's will be very disappointing.

The team had a busy month and three races have been completed within the last week. Those races being the Volta ao Algarve, the Tour de Beauce and the Tour d'Rwanda.
Stage 1 in Algarve came down to a sprint which was expected. Unfortunately Delio Fernandez could not manage better than 9th. This was replayed on stage 2 where we had the same winner and Fernandez finished 9th. Stage 3 was a bit more interesting. We all knew it was to be the most decisive stage along with the TT on stage 4.
Sammy Sanchez got into the break of the day.
6kms to go and it was Moinard launching the attacks from the GC riders, he is followed by about 6 others.
Moinard then formed a leading group with race leader Geschke and Marentes.
1km to go and a leading group of 3, which has Mendes not Moinard, passes the banner only just ahead of Haas and Moinard.
Moinard manages 4th on the stage 18 seconds behind the leading trio.
Arredondo (in the KOM jersey) comes 7th.
Sammy comes 2nd in the peloton sprint to finish 13th.
Stage 4 was a TT and our guys do not really specialize in this discipline but they tried their best. Fernandez at least got some coverage
Final Results and Comment:
Moinard finished 5th in the GC after a decent TT from him. A good result for him in Portugal. Arredondo finished 19th in the GC, 4th in U25 but more importantly won the KOM Jersey which is a good bonus for the team. The team was 3rd in that classification. Overall a good race for us with a nice PPRD.
We had high hopes of a strong GC finish in Canada for Jeannesson. But it was not easy for him.
On the mountainous stage 3 Jeannesson attacked twice but used up his energy and found himself sitting in a group behind the favourites.
Stage 4 was a TT and Adamou came into his own to be leading for a while but finished the stage in 9th place.
Stage 6 was the last chance for the team to do anything.
J.S Tamayo Martinez joined the breakaway on this hilly circuit.
The breakaway was going to win with 3kms to go.
They are getting very near to the line now.
Tamayo Martinez looks like he is pulling away from the others.
Juan Sebastian Tamayo Martinez takes a great win for the team on the last stage here in Canada . His first win of the season and the teams 3rd stage win, now 7 more to go. A rather strange celebration from him.
Final Results and Comment:
Arnold Jeannesson finishing 18th in the GC is terrible. We need much better from our French climber and we expect much more from him as well. 7th in Points from Martinez after his victory is one point more than expected. 6th in U25 for Adamou is also disappointing from the Cypriot. 11th in the Team classification was kind of expected because the team was not particularly strong. A poor race and poor PPRD here in Canada for the boys in Orange.
The quite hilly African stage race did not have a TT and because of that we had high hopes for a good GC from someone.
Stage 1- Fernandez was one of the favourites for the stage because of his sprint but disappointed a lot finishing only 26th with Tamayo Martinez ahead of him in 20th.
Stage 2- 48th was the best we could manage on stage 2 which was a straight out sprint stage. Extremely disappointing yet again.
Stage 3
Dueñas in the breakaway today.
The break was effectively caught with only 4kms to go.
Fernandez finishes 17th in the sprint. Slightly better but still disappointing.
Stage 4
The decisive hilly stage was going to be an interesting one.
Fernandez forced to attack later in the stage.
Fernandez finishing the stage in 7th 1'29 behind race and GC winner Wyss.
Final Results and Comment:
Fernandez 7th in the GC was a bit disappointing, I guess the decisive stages suited the hilly riders better than the climbers. Tamayo Martinez 21st and Ruben Fernandez 23rd is a decent effort y the two of them. Ruben Fernandez took 6th in the U25 classification. The team finishes in 3rd place which does not bring in many points. Overall another average race for the team. Improvement need to be made if we want to finish around the 10th spot in the final rankings.
Managers Overall Comment:
That brings to an end a very busy month where we had good results in San Luis and Algarve but very poor results in Langkawi, Beauce and Rwanda. We really need to improve but next month could also be tough with a one day race and two stage races which don't really suit the team. However we are hoping for good results from the boys in orange.

A long cobblestone race, which really does not suit our team and it showed.
Young loanee Carlos Verona got into the early breakway
Young Basque Cobbler Haritz Orbe was our best finisher in 54th.
8 stage race throughout South America.
Stage 1 was a TT and young Verona again showed himself as he finished 11th on the stage with the same time as 9th and 10th.
Stage 2 came down to a sprint where none of our riders finished in the Top 50.
Stage 3, hilly stage where Sammy Sanchez finished in 25th which was in the main group behind a small leaders group.
Stage 4, Adamou gets into the breakaway
Disappointing as two members of the break won the race, Adamou still finishing inside the Top 10 in 9th spot.
Stage 5, Sammy Sanchez best rider in 49th.
Stage 6, Hugo Sabido in the BOTD which was caught with only 6kms to go. He finished 42nd as our best rider.
Stage 7, sprinters stage. Adamou got into the breakaway again which was caught about 10kms from the finish.
Stage 8, came down to a sprint. Sammy Sanchez again the best but down in 53rd.
Overall: Rafael Infantino 37th in the GC was our best which is no better than absolutely useless. Adamou finished 7th in the King of the Mountains.
7 Stages, hoping for better than in South America.
Stage 1, sprinters stage and Moinard was our top rider finishing 29th.
Stage 2, Ruben Fernandez in 39th was all we achieved on another sprinters stage.
Stage 3, Adamou in the breakaway but gets caught in the final 20kms. Ruben Fernandez again our best finisher this time in 26th.
Stage 4, one of the GC stages, Moinard finishes 12th in a group 16 seconds behind the lone winner.
Stage 5, 53rd for Fernandez on a day where two breakaway riders took the win.
Stage 6, Sammy Sanchez in the breakaway
Moinard finishing the stage in 8th ahead of a few riders and behind 7 others.
The final stage 7 and more cobbles but Moinard is not afraid today and attacks amongst all the others.
He finishes the stage in 14th
Overall: Ruben Fernandez finished as our best rider in 22nd because Moinard lost a lot of time on a stage earlier in the race. Moinard otherwise would have done quite well so again disapponting.
Managers Overall Comment:
Simply put, it was a bad three races for the team. Other than breakaways, which are hardly a consolation any longer, we did not bring in the results the team needs to be able to compete at even the Continental level. We need our riders to be far more active and bring in good results very soon.
Riders of the Month:
Vassilis Adamou, Sammy Sanchez and Carlos Verona. Adamou joined many breakaways and came close to surviving on many occasions, he also finished 7th in the KOM. Sammy Sanchez was our top finishing rider a lot of the time in Ruta America del Sur and at his age still joined breakaways. Young Carlos Verona did very well on Stage 1 in the TT and also attempted a breakaway in the cobbled classic.

May only contains 3 one day races for the team. The first is another cobbled classic followed by one Mountainous classic and then a hilly classic.
June contains 2 one day races and 2 stage races. The first one day race is Mountainous, the second doesn't really suit us. The two Stage Races are both Mountainous.
Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt
There is a simple way to preview this one day race. It is not our terrain and without a breakaway our chances of getting a result are rather low.
Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid
A Mountainous One Day Race where we have quite high hopes. It is C2HC and thus we hope the competition will not be too strong and hopefully our climbers will come out to play and achieve a good result.

GP Onda-Boavista
As our secondary sponsor is Onda they want us to show ourselves in this C2 Race. We are not rating our chances but a successful breakaway is definitely not out of the question.

Transfagarasan GP
A Mountainous classic in Romania kicks us off in July. It is C2 and we need to bring in a good result in these Mountainous classics as it is our main focus.

Giro del Capo
The Mountainous Stage Race around Cape Town, South Africa is very important for the team during June. Cape Town is a beautiful city to ride a bike in and it will certainly remind the manager of how lovely it is to be in the Rainbow Nation.

Tour d'Andorra
The team has no idea what they were thinking when they look back at signing up for this race. It is extremely Mountainous and is 1 of the 2 HC Races we will be participating in this season. We have no real hopes for this race other than to be in the breakaway. A stage win would be a dream return from Andorra. A KOM jersey would also be a great goal for the team.

Rutas de America
A one day race in South America, I think Uruguay, where all our younger riders and weaker riders will be given a chance to prove themselves. A breakaway seems our most likely chance of a decent result.
