The Middle East tour is the longest stage race of the C2 calendar and a chance for us to get several good results as our depth, especially at sprinting, should allow for chances to win.
Stage one is hilly though and just staying safe would be our objective with only one real attack being made by our sprinty puncher Jonathan Millan, though it would have no effect.
A race close to home for us, and home to two of our riders who will both be present. The Tour de San Luis is a good length stage race with a solid mix of terrain. Several flat stages for our sprinters, led by Haedo, a couple hills to contend with, and some climbing for Ardila to go for a win.
The first stage though is the easiest, a flat road even downhill a slight bit towards the finish and opening up for a very fast sprint.
Our team does a great job of staying out of trouble and out of what seemed to be a pretty strong wind as many riders started to drop towards the end when the speeds kicked up.
But when the time came, we were certainly visable, our sprint train leading the race, with François Parisien taking charge Crespo on his wheel and Haedo as the anchor.
And Parisien would do a job unparallelled by any of the other teams as Azteca would pull away from the peloton, creating a gap behind them and essentially locking away victory.
At this point the winner was no long a surprise, but his leadouts also getting some bonus points with Crespo taking 2nd and Parisien finishing third to give Azteca the vaunted treble!
