@ welker: yes we are, we needed to be on the Top in our home country
@ Shonak: yes all the team have done good but Branaa has done great
@ sutty: Yeap, a sweet podium
@ SpMky: thank you, hope you will continue liking it
Key Stages
Stage 1 – Mountain
In the last climb, we see Rogina, the favorite in difficulty so Branaa accelerates and only 4 riders remain in the front: Branaa, Mancebo, Kozontchuk and Minguez!
Minguez attacks again and again but cannot get rid of Kozontchuk and loose the stage in the sprint. Still an important gap in GC with Rogina who ranks 5th.
Stage 1 | Dmitriy Kozontchuk | Itera - Katusha | Stage 2 | Amaro Manuel Antunes Raposo | La - Antarte | Stage 3 | Dmitriy Kozontchuk | Itera - Katusha | Stage 4 | Rafael Infantino Abreu | Colombia - Coldeportes |
We failed for the win but a good race for us: Kozontchuk was clearly too strong, finishing 2 & 3 with the Points jersey makes it a nice race for the team.
Final GC 1 | Dmitriy Kozontchuk | 17h55'58 | 2 | Damien Branaa | + 3'04 | 3 | Miguel Minguez Ayala | + 3'11 | 4 | Francisco Mancebo Perez | + 4'09 | 5 | Radoslav Rogina | + 6'17 | 6 | Luis Alberto Romero Amaran | + 6'39 | 7 | Lukasz Bodnar | + 6'50 | 8 | Victor Hugo Pena Grisales | + 7'11 | 9 | Rui Miguel Sousa Barbosa | + 8'23 | 10 | Edgar Miguel Pinto Lemos | + 9'01 |
Points - Jefferson Quinteros
Mountain - Nelson Nuno Vitorino Sequeira
Key Stages
Stage 6 – Mountain
First mountain stage and De Maar, the race favorite has only a small lead after the first hill stage and ITT. We have both Quinteros and Varillas at the front. Quinteros does a big work and collect KoM points while Varillas wait for the final to grab the stage win.
But Team SpiderTech closes the gap at the bottom of the last climb. Time for Minguez to accelerate and break free. The gap grows up to 40’’. De Maar is isolated but it is no problem for him
Still a good stage with a 2nd place. Minguez is now 3rd in GC and Branaa 5th.
Stage 7 – Hills
Today Branaa manages to loose only 30’’ on De Maar but Minguez lost contact in the penultimate climb and finishes alone the last 20 km and lost more than 4’. It ends our hope for podium.
Stage 1 | Boy Van Poppel | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 2 | Giorgio Brambilla | Leopard - Trek | Stage 3 | Floris Goesinnen | Drapac Cycling | Stage 4 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 5 | Rory Sutherland | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 6 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 7 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 8 | Jesse Anthony | Kelly Benefit Strategies - O.Health | Stage 9 | Rory Sutherland | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 10 | Rory Sutherland | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 11 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 12 | Jesse Anthony | Kelly Benefit Strategies - O.Health | Stage 13 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling |
With 9 victories out of 13 stages and the overall win, UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling have simply crushed the competition. 2 Top 10 and the KoM is hardly saving the race for our team.
Final GC 1 | Marc De Maar | 33h55'03 | 2 | François Parisien | + 4'16 | 3 | Jesse Anthony | + 4'54 | 4 | Walter Fernando Pedraza Morales | + 7'49 | 5 | Rory Sutherland | + 8'20 | 6 | Damien Branaa | + 9'34 | 7 | Christopher Jones | + 10'53 | 8 | Miguel Minguez Ayala | + 13'11 | 9 | Rob Britton | + 17'51 | 10 | Jarlinson Pantano Gomez | + 18'33 |
Points - François Parisien
Mountain - Jefferson Quinteros

Branaa is getting some solid GC rankings and provides quite some consistency for the team.

@ all: yes Branaa is doing great, as long as mountains are not too tough But the form is slipping away from the team
A 5 stages hilly race in Poland, for once we put all our eggs in the Branaa’s basket.
The 1st stage was flat and a massive sprint created no gap. The break holds on in the 2nd stage but the Croatian Champ and race favorite, Durasek manages to close the gap and is rewarded with a 49’’ gap on the other favorites but Branaa who has been the only one following him in the final.
Stage 3 is the ITT and Branaa is no match with the specialist, but he does great and is now leading the GC for 8’’. There are still 29 riders within 1’ but with 2 stages remaining, Branaa is now looking as the favorite for the GC.
Stage 4 is hilly but not that difficult as demonstrated by the large group of 80 riders finishing in the same time, behind the break. The issue is that Fothen was in the break and ceased the leader jersey for 1’. The team have allowed the 10 men about 5’ and reduced it to 3’30 with 50km to go. But no one helped us and all our riders have finished the stage exhausted for nothing. Branaa hardly manages to stay in the pack after his desperate efforts to close the gap and is still 2nd in GC.
Last stage massive sprint changes nothing.
Stage 1 | Tino Meier | Lkt Team Brandenburg | Stage 2 | Mariusz Witecki | Bank Bgz | Stage 3 | Björn Schröder | Nutrixxion Sparkasse | Stage 4 | Ralf Matzka | Thüringer Energie Team | Stage 5 | Sebastien Forke | NSP - Ghost |
A real missed opportunity for our team and even if it taste bitter, 2nd is a good result.
1 | Thomas Fothen | 16h54'29 | 2 | Damien Branaa | + 1'08 | 3 | Carlo Scognamiglio | + 1'16 | 4 | René Obst | + 1'17 | 5 | Kristijan Durasek | + 1'19 | 6 | Ralf Matzka | + 1'28 | 7 | Björn Schröder | + 1'34 | 8 | Alexandr Pliuschin | + 1'35 | 9 | Mikhail Antonov | + 1'40 | 10 | Stefan Schäfer | + 1'43 |
Points - Ralf Matzka
Mountain - Christian Patron
It is already end of July and time for our second
Another great 3 months as the team collected his 2nd win and increase his collection of KoM and Top 10 GC. Next months might be much more difficult with a tiring team first and then an unprepared one for just few races. Our last hope of winning a big one will be for Brazil.
Because the great news of the quarter is that we have found our next year second leader. I initially planned to open a vote for it but there is no more need: Dal Compare has just… well, see:
Yeah, that is a +4 in MO, +3 in HIL, +3 in TT, etc. We can now reasonably expect that by the year end he will be strong enough to dominate next year cat 2.2 races. Other riders progress have been disappointing except for Quinteros and Varillas who are competing to establish themselves as the best Colombian rider of the team.

duxili - Continuing from the hero of the game early seasons it is novel to see you are entering all of these obscure races I haven't heard of.!
With the end of the season coming up the team should go out with a bang, in a good way. Multiple victories please. |

@ The Rider: I am surprised but happy to teach you something about cycling. It is not my goal though and I'll do my best to move up to better known races as soon as my team allows
And I'll do my best but with Dal Compare it seems possible.
@ sutty: good but a bit of a disappointment
So specially for The Rider here are a couple of "not so well known" races:
Key Stages
Stage 1 – Hills
Varillas makes the break but fails to Bogdanovics for the stage. Still a 2nd place in GC with 1’20 on the favorites.
Stage 3 – Hills
Despite our efforts a large break makes it with 1’40… meaning all our riders are out of the top 10.
Stage 1 | Maris Bogdanovics | Alpha Baltic - Unitymarathons.com | Stage 2 | Vitaliy Popkov | Isd - Lampre Continental | Stage 3 | Jan Sipeky | Dukla Trencin Merida | Stage 4 | Bruno Radotic | Meridiana Kamen Team | Stage 5 | Vitaliy Popkov | Isd - Lampre Continental |
Final GC 1 | Maris Bogdanovics | 16h50'46 | 2 | Jiri Hochmann | + 19 | 3 | Jan Sipeky | + 20 | 4 | Fotis Antonarakis | + 25 | 5 | Svein Erik Vold | + 28 | 6 | Ruslan Gryschenko | s.t. | 7 | Volodymyr Gomenyuk | + 31 | 8 | Vaclav Hlavac | + 32 | 9 | Patrik Stenberg | s.t. | 10 | David Puskas | s.t. | 14 | Exar Varillas | + 48 |
Points –Vitaliy Popkov
Mountain - Rahim Ememi
Key Stages
Stage 1 – Hills
Difficult stage to start with and our team lacks competition. Impressive demonstration of Farnese Vinci in the final with 3 riders trusting the porium and already more than 2’ gap. Dal Compare is 15th for his come back to competition.
Stage 4 – Mountain
In the mountain stage, Farnese Vinci just confirmed their domination.
Dal Compare took the 4th place of the stage but with not enough time gap to do better than 6th in GC.
Stage 1 | Oscar Gatto | Farnese Vini - Neri Sottoli | Stage 2 | Oscar Gatto | Farnese Vini - Neri Sottoli | Stage 3 | Joon Yong Seo | Seoul Cycling Team | Stage 4 | Luca Ascani | Farnese Vini - Neri Sottoli | Stage 5 | Andrea Guardini | Farnese Vini - Neri Sottoli |
Final GC 1 | Oscar Gatto | 21h06'45 | 2 | Francesco Failli | + 2'29 | 3 | Luca Ascani | + 4'02 | 4 | Vincenzo Garofalo | + 5'25 | 5 | Patrick Drapac | + 6'15 | 6 | Aureliano Dal Compare | + 6'38 | 7 | Hyo Suk Gong | + 6'51 | 8 | Bernard Sulzberger | + 7'48 | 9 | Kévin Hulsmans | s.t. | 10 | Graham Webb | + 8'42 |
Points - Oscar Gatto
Mountain - Luca Ascani

@ sutty: yeah not a great race...
Hopefully Dal Compare will prove better for the last races of the season:
Kumamoto
Our first 1.2 race to prepare what has become the main objective of the season thanks to Dal Compare progresses. Dal Compare is favorite! And in the last hill is good enough to beat a field that was not well placed enough.
1 | Aureliano Dal Compare | EL EQUIPO | 5h09'42 | 2 | William Clarke | Champion System | + 10 | 3 | Matthias Friedemann | Champion System | s.t. | 4 | Gang Xu | Champion System | s.t. | 5 | Martin Pedersen | Christina Watches - Onfone | s.t. | 6 | Christopher Butler | Champion System | s.t. | 7 | Craig Lewis | Champion System | s.t. | 8 | Philip Nicholas Nielsen | Christina Watches - Onfone | s.t. | 9 | Frederik Wilmann | Christina Watches - Onfone | s.t. | 10 | Hyo Suk Gong | Geumsan Ginseng Asia | s.t. |
Key Stages
Stage 3 – Hills
Van Poppel is leader, is it the reason why Sutherland stays with him in a second group? Whatever the reason, Dal Compare attacks with 15km to go at the bottom of the penultimate hill
and he is creating a big gap for his solo win! He is now leading the GC with 1’40 despite the time lost in the TTT.
Stage 4 – Mountain
1st mountain stage and only Sutherland manages to stay with Dal Compare. The sprint is really close
Stage 5 – Hills
Barguil is in the break for a change. And he is the strongest
No change in GC.
Stage 1 | Bissell Cycling Team | Bissell Cycling Team | Stage 2 | Boy Van Poppel | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 3 | Aureliano Dal Compare | EL EQUIPO | Stage 4 | Aureliano Dal Compare | EL EQUIPO | Stage 5 | Warren Barguil | EL EQUIPO | Stage 6 | Patrick Drapac | Drapac Cycling | Stage 7 | Rory Sutherland | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 8 | Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg | Mtn Qhubeka | Stage 9 | Rory Sutherland | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling |
Final GC 1 | Aureliano Dal Compare | EL EQUIPO | 31h59'42 | 2 | Rory Sutherland | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | + 1'10 | 3 | Gregory Juel Brenes Obondo | Movistar Team Ct | + 4'39 | 4 | Max Jenkins | Competitive Cyclist Pro Cycling Team | + 7'25 | 5 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | + 7'56 | 6 | Stanley Namanyana | Mtn Qhubeka | + 8'31 | 7 | Paul Mach | Bissell Cycling Team | + 9'11 | 8 | Jesse Anthony | Kelly Benefit Strategies - O.Health | + 9'33 | 9 | Tiego Gasparotto Justo | Funvic - Pindamonhangaba | + 11'01 | 10 | José Antonio Alarcon Morales | Movistar Team Ct | + 11'47 |
Points - Rory Sutherland
Mountain - Peter Adamus

@ sutty: Yeah those Brazilian they seam to like long name. Hope soon the palmares of the team will be that long
@ Shonak: Dal Compare has become a true leader for 2.2 races
So here ends our 1st season. Time for the
This first season has brought more successes than expected. And the main reason has a name: Dal Compare. He started has the 4th best rider of our team and ended the best by far: he increased +7 in MO, + 7 in HIL, + 7 in TT, + 7 in PRL and guess what… + 7 AVG. Ho, can someone tell Barguil that he is supposed to progress too ! (I mean no improvement in any skill whatsoever for a full year).
At the end of the day, next season team looks good:
As for the success Barguil did get the first though: the 2nd stage of the 2.2 Costa Azul. He later also won the 5th stage of the 2.2 Tour do Brazil.
Another French man got our 2nd win: Branaa for the 14th and last stage of the 2.2 Vuelta a Colombia.
And then Dal Compare! First our 1st 1.2 race in Kumamoto, the 3rd and 4th stage of the Tour do Brazil and the first GC of the same Tour.
For a total of 7 wins!

And before the 1st report a quick question to start the season with:
Who should we renew? And for how long?
Here are the 4 riders finishing their contract end of the season:

Lobaton is a climber with MO 55?
Definitely prolong Barguil (for 2-3 years). Not sure about the others though. Minguez can probably turn into a decent domestique. Don't see much Quiroz

Agreed, I'd give Barguil 3 years, Minguez 2 and let the others go.
