Over dinner at Moscow Restaurant, Turandot, the signing of Evegeny Shalunov was confirmed. The 23 year old Russian Stage Racer shall be riding for the Androni Team for the remainder of the season.
We are glad to have signed him and we see much promise in the young lad and this season he will already be riding big races such as the Tour of Romandie, the Dauphine and most importantly the Giro d'Italia.

Hello Carlo Calzone and Evegeny Shalunov
I have decided what your calendars for this Part of the Season will be. You will have the chance to ask me if any changes can be made but this is what I think will be best for you.
Carlo Calzone:
-Brabantse Pijl
-Tour of Turkey
-Giro d'Italia
-Tour de Luxembourg
Race Days: 34
This will mean you will have 11 race days for part 3.
Evegeny Shalunov:
-Pais Vasco
-Giro del Trentino
-Tour de Romandie
-Giro d'Italia
-Criterium de Dauphine
Race Days: 44
Although this will mean you have a busy schedule, and will leave you with only 1 Race Day for Part 3, it will let you race in top WT races. If this is not your desired schedule I can replace it but that will mean you will not be able to ride in the Giro.
I hope both of you are happy with your schedules, if not Contact me ASAP as i want to send in the Planner to Ollfardh.
The Calzone approves. It should offer great possibilites for lots of stage wins and victory laps. Some smart race choices too I might add Travio. Let's get the racing going!

That is good. It should indeed, and I appreciate the compliment of my choices.

In this Spanish Stage Race we have no official goals but we are hoping for a stage win and a top 10 in the GC. We are also looking forward to a strong showing from our new rider Shalunov.
In our first day of racing in Part 2 the team had a decent showing.
In Stage 1 of Pais Vasco 80 men finished in the leading group and a good thing for the team is that all 8 riders finished in the group.
Our best finisher was Franco Pellizotti who finished in 11th.
We are also proud of Evegeny Shalunov after he finished his first day of racing very comfortably in the main group in 50th.
We are hoping for some good results in the stages to come.
Travio
Stage 2
After a pretty nothing day for the team it ended in a sprint and Fabio Felline took a decent 14th place. All my other riders finished in the leading group.
Stage 3
In a much more interesting stage for the Androni Team we saw our man Emanuele Sella get into the days breakaway.
Later in the race there were attacks by a few riders, Mourey (FDJ) got out of the break and ended up taking the win 12 seconds ahead of Poels (VAC) in 2nd and Kelderman (Belkin) in 3rd. Then 36 seconds behind in 4th was Sella who came in with Kwiatkowski (OPQ) and Vanendert (LOB). The Peloton (containing all the rest of the Androni riders) came in 55 seconds behind the winner.
From the Team's Perspective: This was a much better stage for the team. Sella not only got into the break but took an excellent 4th place in the stage to move him up to 5th in the GC. Our leader Pellizotti sits 55 seconds back in the GC in 38th, we hope to see some more action from him. Custom Rider Evegeny Shalunov is 54th in the GC, also at 55 seconds, and has shown no sign of weakness.
As Brabantse Pijl is quickly approaching it is time for our preview of the race.
Brabantse Pijl is a hilly flat race which should end in a large group sprint, at least this is what we are hoping.
The Squad for the Race:
- Carlo Calzone
- Mattia Gavazzi
- Fabio Felline
- Marco Frapporti
- Omar Bertazzo
- Giairo Ermeti
- Tomas Gil
- Antonino Parrinello
We are bringing what we believe is the strongest squad possible. Our leader here, Carlo Calzone, will be racing in his first professional race. He is here to help us achieve our Top 5 Hard Goal. Hopefully we are not placing too much pressure on the 23 year old Sprinter.
Go Calzone!!!
Ciao Travio,
I was preparing myself for De Brabantse Pijl and noticed that this race has cobbles and hills. Since I was busy partying back then with some dutch speed skating-athletes (damn, those girls have calves!) when it came to chosing your races, I just said yes to everything. You do know that I suck big time at cobbles, right?!? Mamma mia, you as my team manager should have slammed the door on me right away when I came up with this drunk plan to ride a cobble-race... I hate cobblez.
The Calzone
P.S. Amazing performance by Sella at PaÃs Vasco!
