STAGE 2: Armagh - Dublin 194 KM's

Just like the TTT, there is no clear favourite here. One of a dozen or more are capable of winning the sprint.

To get into the first break of a tour is quite an accomplishment, as such many riders even from Borussia had a go.


With 149 kilometres to go we reach the KOM point at Markethill Summit and the break is still trying to establish. Jarrier of Banco takes the sole point on offer and will be the first wearer of the KOM jersey.

With 131 kilometres to go Nys leads the now 12 man break over the Fews Forest KOM point to claim 1 KOM point. He is joined by Meyer, Hester, Stamsnijder, Schierlinckx, van Zandbeek, Jarrier, Lancaster, Reimer, van Bon, Wippert and Matzka.

We pass through the first intermediate point of the tour (Dunleer) with 89 kilometres to go.


Stamsnijder is the best of the break and will take 20 points ahead of Schierlinckx. The break has now grown to 14 riders as Bernaudeu and Mario Costa managed to ride across.

Borussia Dortmund were clear on preserving the GC lead, the break had a max advantage of 6:00 with 90 kilometres to go.

47 kilometres to go: the break have 2'20 and we have an attack from the peloton.


Bobridge (UK Youth) and Sulzberger (7-up) attack out of the peloton but struggle to ride across to the break.

With 41 kilometres to go we reach the second and final intermediate sprint point of the day (Lusk) and once again Stamsnijder and Schierlinckx are quicker than the rest of the break.

With 21 kilometres to go the break now have just 1'00 as Cartoon Network rider van de Walle powers along with the peloton in tail.


Sapa, Ignatiev and Bobridge attack from the peloton and ride across to the break.....

Despite this. Despite all this attacking....


Only van Zandbeek of T-Mobile is ahead of the peloton with 10 kilometres to go, he has just '26.

6 KM to go: van Zandbeek is finally caught. Cartoon Network doing much of the work.

4 KM to go: 3 riders attack. Klostegaard, Ignatiev and Boaro are the riders. There is some hesitation by the bunch before Cartoon Network drive along hard.

1.5 KM to go: Only Boaro is out front and ahead. He has '5 over the peloton surely he can't hold on.

1 KM to go: Boaro is caught.

Final kilometre: Lemoine produces an epic leadout for... Dean. The Kiwi launches his sprint and.......

CARTOON NETWORK TAKE THE WIN!


It might have been one of many on the top step of the podium today but few can doubt Cartoon Network deserved this one having really taken the initiative.

Many of the bigger name sprinters missed out on the top 10 with no typical sprint trains forming today. After that it looks Dean is the man to be beat in the sprints.

We have a change in the GC lead. Gazvoda is the new GC leader as he finished ahead of teammate Biondo.

We didn't expect our first win this early on but then again, we didn't have last time a guy like Julian in our rows. Our random pick has confirmed the non-trust we have put in him and delivered a wonderful stage win. We thank Julian Dean and he thanks the entire team. "Honestly, the team did a massive job today. They were working all day and we knew that the responsibility lay with us. I am extremely happy." Especially the lead-out by Cyril Lemoine has confirmed our race tactics, our Jack-Of-All-Trades did an amazing job leading Julian into the sprint. This win stands a clear sign of our ambition and a further motivation to obtain even more stage wins and points during the Tour of the Chosen 4. Only downsight is that the tv coverage fell out, but a rerun of the entire stage will be transmitted on Cartoon Network later that night (when all the kids are already in bed).

The result (1st & 7th) puts on the top of Ultra Classification. That's the place where we belong and we aim to defend it with everything we got.

A better stage for lectro there, we do not have a classic sprinter so I was hoping someone would go for it and klistergaard showed he is in the mood with the cobbled stuff coming up.
