The dark blue doesn't have the reflective feel as last year's jersey did. More of a meh type jersey.
baseballlover312, 06-03-14 : "Nuke Moscow...Don't worry Russia, we've got plenty of love to go around your cities"
Sarah Palin, 08-03-14 (CPAC, on Russian aggression) : "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke"
Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

How do you know that? He only tried it once.
He has ridden the Tour several times. In 2012 he was 18th and in 2013 he was 27th. Admittedly in neither case was he the leader (though he was the highest placed member of his team in 2012) and certainly in 2013 he showed some improvement in the final week. However if, by his age, you haven't got a top ten in any GT then a Tour top ten probably isn't going to happen. I would be surprised if he managed it and if he did it wouldn't be better than 8th/9th which is an utter waste of his talents.

Remember Niemiec, Fuglsang and Navarro? That's already three examples in 2013 alone. Of course, Costa will have to prove his ability to deal with pressure and recover strongly in a grand tour, but the initial statement that Costa can't handle three weeks has as much foundation as me believing that he can keep up with Kreuziger and Mollema. |

McEwen leaves Orica staff.
He probably disliked the jerseys as well... |

He's more like Brajkovic. Big One Week win, then not a lot, then 9th... And no-one gives a flying fuck about his 9th place because it's a 9th place

I gave a fuck, but I rather like Brajkovic. One of the many riders I follow throughout the season.
When you can't decide between two options, flip a coin. Not because the result of the coin will choose for you, but because, in that split second before the coin lands, you'll know what side you want it to fall on.

Sure but 10 years down the track no one is going to remember a 9th place. At least if you win stage races then you are in the history books.

It gets worse the longer time passes. 1981 Hinault wins.... had to look up who finished 2nd in that race, let alone 9th (Lucien Van Impe and Claude Criquielion btw)

But that's what Costa did: he won stage races, he won Tour stages, he won a one day race in the World Tour and he won the World Championships. In order to have a larger page in the history books, he should either win a major classic or become a strong GC rider in grand tours. He's aiming at both and I think that's a healthy ambition. |

Rui Costa is World Champion, he should be at the Tour anyway and it's good that he wants to try his best there. Everybody will talk about him, his jersey and Lampre, maybe even more if he fails. If he does, then he knows it for sure. He has won stage races and had stage wins at le Tour, why wouldn't he want to try to compete for overall classification? It's a natural thing to want. I don't think he is such a good climber as Fuglsang or Kreuziger, but heck - that guy surprised me before over and over again... How many people did again bet on Rui Costa become WC here on PCMDaily?
EDIT: So, basically I'm saying what Blueprint posted in the meantime.

Argos-Shimano becomes Giant-Shimano for one year
New big main sponsor for Argos-Shimano withdrew after contract signed. In 2014 team will be Giant-Shimano. The big sponsor that was announced was an American charity. They withdrew after UCI deadline. Giant saves the team, but only for 2014. The security Spekenbrink had that his team was safe for years, evaporated. He can look out for new main sponsor in 2014.
Confirmed by various Dutch media sources. |

Not the only team with sponsor issues:
This is why we need revenue sharing. A consistent stream of money that can give managers and riders some security over their future.

The sponsor issues of Math Salden cycling team are different. The sponsors wanted to link the team to a regional training center, but the team managers decided not to fulfill this condition. As a result, the sponsors pulled the plug.
Revenue sharing is often mentioned as a solution, but where should the money come from? Only a few races actually bring in money, while most others barely manage to survive. And we can't expect everything to be paid from the income of Flanders Classics, Giro d'Italia and Tour de France... |

It is good to see Giant step up and give the management time to find another lead sponsor. With the way the team came together in 2013 they should be able to land something soon enough as long as Kittel keeps performing and the other youngsters progress.

Kinda weird that a sponsor can back out of a contract merely weeks after they signed it.

Well if you don't up your end of the contract (supporting local center) then why should they keep there side?
Contracts work both ways, so there is nothing to complain about if the team did not do what they agreed. In fact it reflects badly upon those who run the team rather than the sponsor.

What are you referring to? It states in the CN article, that "details of why the sponsorship fell through have yet to emerge".

@Shonak
Thought you were questioning Math Salden. But i guess then you meant Argos/Giant-Shimano?

I see; yeah, I meant the American charity institution behind the Argos-Shimano deal in October.
