Project 2100 - 2nd edition!
Jesleyh
Some nice development, but still, quite shockingly maybe, most names on top are already (nearly) established names.

Kelderman disappointing compared to the previous year. Also, it's with 1 N Pfft

Hopefully that happens at this year's Tour, would make it very interesting Pfft Good to see Froome's run being ended, but I suspect he will be back to winning ways in 2016.

What were the CQ rankings? I'm guessing Kwiatek was at the top, after also winning Wallone. Another great write-up.

The CQ-rankings are there, and as you'll see he was in 3rd behind Sagan and Froome.

After last years drama in the Tour de France, many where wondering if Froome could come back from his dreadful showing in 2015. There was also excitement concerning wether or not someone could finally dismantle Tony Martin in the Worlc Championship Time Trial.

Sep Vanmarcke, having shown great potential, finally came into his own during the last two years. This year, however, was the year when he really stood out. Taking the win in E3 Harelbeke, P-R and RvV, he proved himself as arguably the best cobbled rider in the world at the moment. Peter Sagan also showed his prowess by winning both Amstel Gold Race and L-B-L. This was his 2nd L-B-L and his win in Amstel andpled with his 2013-win in FLeche Wallonie, it means he has now won all the Ardennes-classics.

The Giro and the Tour has been the most thrilling GTs during the later years whilst the Vuelta has failed to live up to the other two. Yet again the Giro gave us a memorable race and a fantastic battle between former winners Uran and Kreuziger. After a great show in the mountains where they were neck-and-neck the showdown came on the last climb. Uran was leading by 28 seconds on Kreuziger. Krezuiger went on the attack and produced a gap between him and the 2013-winner.

Uran was not far behind, and when he finally crossed the finish line, to everyones surprise, they were tied! With the last flat stage to go the two where on equal time, but Uran kept the leaders jersey. On the last stage bonus seconds was the only thing that could seperate them, but those all went to the breakaway, meaning Uran won his 2nd Giro on equal time with last years winner, Kreuziger.

In the Tour, Froome continued his winning form by taking his 3rd title in 4 years. This was almost overshadowed by Germanys fantastic performance, taking 6 stage wins and getting a 1-2-3 on two occatisions (Kittel, Greipel, Degenkolb and Greipel Degenkolb, Kittel). The German sprinters, especially Kittel had a fantastic season crowned by Kittel taking the WC-title. Sadly, Germany didn't take their chances to dominate the World when Martin couldn't follow up his 5 straight ITT-wins, being beaten by Phinney.

Rigoberto Uran took home the win in the Vuelta, getting the historical Giro-Vuelta-double, meaning he only laks the TdF to finish of a great line of achievements. The Vuelta did provide us with some interesting results, perhaps most notably Boasson Hagens 8th place and Joshua Edmondsons youth-jersey.

Vanmarcke had a great year, surprised he isn't in the CQ Top 3.

Did Kelderman stop progressing or something like that, btw? Never got any close to his 2nd place in the Giro anymore Sad

If two riders are on equal time, what seperates them? Do you sum up all the places on all the stages and whoever has the best outcome wins?

Also, I'm going to have to look into why Stybar isn't doing anything. I think he has a top 10 here and there, but that's it.

Yeah, it should be a countback. And nice to see A) Nico at last (partly) filling his dad's footsteps. Now we only need the Giro and Tour! Pfft
And B) both Irish winning WT Events, though Dan Martins Montreal victory might not be thaaat important.

2017 kicked of with some sad news. Early on, Michele Scarponi, Fabian Cancellara, Daniel Moreno and Thor Hushovd all announced their retirement. It's always hard losing such great riders and a spaniard.

But as the saying goes; out with the old, in with the new. The previous seasons have given us quite a few surprises, but this was something special. Some well-known faces stood out as allways, but a few newcommers also marked their approach.

The first half of the season saw the usual suspects like Kittel, Sagan and Vanmarcke all take their respective wins alongside some "newcommers" aswell. Perhaps most most notable was the winner of Paris-Roubaix; Matti Breschel. The Dane hasn't provided us with a single notworthy result before now, about time some might say. Oscar Gatto also surprised us, thereby finally breaking the mold of the classics "always" being won by the same riders over and over.

Richie Porte has been progressing steadily the last few years, but he has missed the final percent that would propell him to the top of the podium. It looks as if he has found it now, winning the Giro ahead og strong riders such as Quintana and Intxausti. Jan Polancs 7th place was unexpected to say the least, but he did return in the Vuelta with a 9th place, showing it was not just a fluke.

Colombia had a great season overall, winning an astounding 8 World Tour races, among them both the Tour and the Vuelta. Carlos Betancur, who has been up in the Top 10 several times, etched his name into the history books by winning both the GTs. Froome was expected to take yet another win, but came up short. A third place behind Gesink who made an upset and many are wondering where he has been hiding for so long. Perhaps he was hiding alongside Breschel?

The Vuelta didn't give us much in terms of surprises, perhaps the most remarkable results where Polancs 9th and Boasson Hagens 10th, his 2nd top 10 in two years. The Norwegian has proved himself a good allrounder, but the big wins have been few and far between. This season he did improve his total somewhat by winning San Sebastian.

In a season where Hushovd retired and Boasson Hagen winning, you'd think they would steal the spotlight, but no. Alexander Kristoff wanted to put a bit of light on himself and what a way to do it. Aswell as winning the Eneco Tour, he managed to outsprint Meersman and Thomas on the line at the World Championship, thereby earning the right to spend a full year in the rainbow jersey. He couldn't have picked a better year with Thor Hushovd, Norways first WC-winner, retiring.

Tony Martin also picked a good year to win his 6th time trial World Championship title. "Spartacus", the former record holder and 4-time winner, had to see his legacy be blown to bits by "Der Panzerwagen".
