There's about 6 in Iberia. 6 in France 3 in Italy 2 in Croatia, 2 in Serbia, 5 in Romania 2 in Turkey. Rough estimate.
Also this will (hopefully be the main feature in the story after Walter. |

I was expecting europe to be somewhere in the 20-25 range, thought china would be 5, maybe 7 if you wanted a whole week there, then Australia to be only 5 as I thought only a tiny part of it was covered by .dem files.
I would probably have guessed at being around 60 days into it by teh time you finish Dubai/Oman so I don't think I was that far off.
And I imagined going more east then Romania when transitioning from Italy to Turkey.

Well Turkey isn't really covered, so I thought Istanbul was a good place to stop, as I'd just get stuck midway!

Good News
The Round the World in 80 days tour has progressed. Due to popular request, the tour has been sent to all 6 inhabited continents, adding 4 stages in South Africa and 4 in Argentina (DEM forgiving!). Thus the Australian segment has been shortend to 7, but keeping the infamous Tasmania 'Penguin' TT. While such admits ratify things have been going on, I have finished the Grand Depart, 2 down, 78 to go!
The first stage isn't so bad, the cobbles shouldn't cause a big split, and only the REALLY bad GC guys, or just unlucky ones will be dropped. Likely to end in an odd bunch sprint.
This is more like it! Still not exactly Paris Roubaix, but a tough job, and not something I'd like to ride. Tough job for GC guys, but strong teams will be important, and the weather, a late attacker could seize the jersey and hold it till the Rockies. You'll need strong stamina to prevail.

Loving the screens, especially the one with the cofidis rider attacking on the dirt road. Looks a good start, can't wait to see what else you've got in store for the rest of it.
you probably already know this but thought I'd add the map for what's covered by .dem files and what isn't.
If you can't get 4 out of Argentina then you could always switch a couple of them to the Colombian mountains. and it looks like you've got all of South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland plus bits of Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique to play with aswell as the very top of Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco for when you get to Africa.

Hmm, looks good.
Hope that the cobbles don't mess the GC up too much(since they might not be seen as leader since no hills/mountains have been passed yet
But well, that's going to be allright I guess

They'll mess up my test GC, but I'll just run it again, when we get the mountains, oddly Izagerre is in yellow, because he was in the break!
The Cofidis one was my favourite too, great minds think alike!
Saw that map, it was really useful, but thanks for putting it in here, now it's easier to find.
Thank you everyone! |

Well, maybe you should just throw some mountains or a TT & Hills in there before the cobbles
And start in England and make it a British race(just like the film)
You can make stages 1 & 2 stages 4 & 5 then
But that's just a suggestion of mine.
I loved the Cofidis screenshot as well btw

It's a film? Cool! I guess it makes sense but I only know it from the book. I chose Benelux as Grand Depart for 2012, could have changes so maybe a 2013 grand depart in UK, 2014 Germany, etc etc. The French finish is because Jules Verne wrote it, and he's French.
Maybe a variant with the proper route from the books later of course, but it might take 800days to make!!

Good new, we have reached Fort Mohave, Arizona, screens and profiles to come later. There are two hilly and one flat stage. |

Progress update! We are in Roswell New Mexico ATM, but we need to go back and make the road a little less bumpy. Figured out the problem, I use too many road points so on climbs it isn't a steady gradient. |

So you basically jumped from Belgium to the other side of the USA?

Yeah the Belgium thing was pretty last minute, but planned all along. Basically it goes:
Benelux
USA from West to East,
Europe from West to East
UAE from SouthWest to NorthEast
China from North to South
Australia from North to South
South Africa from South to North
South America randomly around

Shouldn't you shuffle the sequence of that a bit?

Is the tour going to have sprint and KOM points along the way? I can't tell if they are missing or simply don't show on that screen.
