FORM
Hi everybody and especially my manager! I understand that I still have to learn many things in professional cycling, and I'm open to any kind of racing, tacticts etc. etc. I'm feeling great at the moment, but I hope I didn't catch a cold in cold Switzerland. That would be dramatic! I will do my best in the next race. My first 2 races have been an eye-opening experience.

Sponsor Goal: Top 5
Our Team
We brought a strong squad helping out Alejandro on his first race this season. He has good chances to make a Top 3 here but he will face tough opposition by the likes of Froome, Kreuziger or Kim.
Another rider who starts his season here is Maxime. He wants to shine in the classics and wants therefore to build up his form against the opposition here. If he sees a chance to go for a stage win he is allowed to go as long as it is not an attack against Valverde's GC hopes.
Our super domestique Benat likes to help others so he get his next chance to prove his abilities by helping Valv up the mountains. He may aim for a Top 10 hisself.
Stage 5 is a hilly stage where it is important that no favourite can get an advantage over Valverde. We even think that it is likely that we could get a little gap here between him and Froomebot.
Beside, there were some rumours that Maxime Oget was seen here lately. Some fans expect him to try something here. We don't want to confirm or deny that.
The most important stage here. The one who wins here will be very high in the final GC. Not so much to say.
The final day is a short mountain time trial. You can expect the top climbers to battle for the win here.

Hello Albert,
i told the UCI about your concerns about the cold weather in Switzerland. They understood it and moved the famous race Tirreno - Adriatico from there to sunny Italy. The race organisateurs were not happy about this but what could they do if the new UCI shows their power.
What does that mean to you? Nothing. Well, at least you don't have any excuses anymore...
Yours,
Michael Schröder

The first big stage race of the season has kicked off and we saw some good work by our men in the first stage which was a prologue.
Team leader Alejandro Valverde is a very good 18th being only 7 seconds down on Chavanel. Jesús Herrada was even better and got 13th with the same time than Po-Ding. Other results: 44th Beñat Intxausti, 51st Rubén Plaza, 60th Javier Moreno, 73rd José Herrada, 98th Juan José Cobo and 178th Maxime Oget.
Preview: Tirreno Adriatico
Quintana is the leader of this very strong team. Our sponsor wants the youth jersey but he want more. He has a stong TTT to support him in the opening team time trial and strong mounntain support with the likes of the runner up of the Volta ao Algarve, Rui Costa, or Andrey Amador. We also gave our two italians Capecchi & Visconti the posiibility to race in their home country.
The opening TTT. It is only 16.5 km long but it could give some teams an early advantage and we hope to be amongst them.
Stage 4: Very difficult mountain summit stage on the Prato di Tivo. Quintana wants to show that he is the best climber here and aims for the stage win.
Those who underperformed on the last stage want revenge and will try their best to make this stage as hard as possible. This and the following are good stages for a breakaway win.
The last TT. It is only 9km long but it will decide this tour if it is still close.

The two big stage races of the first part are running now and we want to give you an overview of what is going on. The mountains are still ahead but Tirreno-Adriatico kicked of with the first key stage in San Vincenzo. It was a 17km long team time trial. Most of our strong TT guys supported Nairo here:
It was as fast as it looked and in the end we missed the stage win by only 6''. This brings us an advantage of 23'' over Purito and 24'' over Nibali. It seems as the location of departure did not brought too many luck to Nibbles.
After the win of Omega Pharma - Quickstep Jaxton McNutt has the honor to wear the leadership jersey tomorrow.
Meanwhile in France:
German sprinter Marcel Kittel won the second stage of this years' Paris-Nice in a close finish ahead of Tom Boonen. Due to the bonus seconds he is new second placed in GC. Valverde shows his good form by finishing inside the Top 10. Unfortually, some riders kissed the road and lost contact to the peleton. We were lucky that none of our cyclists were included. Hopefully, it was the last fall of this race...

Only a few days have passed since the last update but we missed some very nice results in both running WT Stage races. Here is a short overvies of what happened:
Tirreno Adriatico Stage 2
We stay invisible all day.
Nothing related to the GC happens.
Tirreno Adriatico Stage 3
A mass sprint. Our top sprinters Andrey and Giovanni finished just inside the Top 10. Good effort by both of them.
Tirreno Adriatico Stage 4
The first mountain summit on the Prato di Tivo. It is a very important one for us.
Nairo stays attentive all day as he does not wants to miss any important attack.
Albert Llanet and Eros Capecchi control the pace during the first 100km (of 170 km). Both of them with an insane performane today as most domestiques from the other teams could not stay inside the peleton.
The whole work paid off as Quintana takes the win. On top, he gets the GC lead.
A flat finish after a few hills. This should end up in a sprint from a smaller group. This could be a stage for Alejandro.
He attacks with 14 km to go but 3000m before the finish he gets caught. Beset placed rider in the finish is Maxime Oget who gets his first Top 10 in his professional carreer while Valverde can hang on with the first group of riders.
Tirreno Adriatico Stage 5
A very difficult stage but with an rather easy finish. Nonetheless, this could be decisive.
Again we wanted a hard pace from the beginning and we send Visconti (no.68) and Dowsett to the front. Luckily, Sky and Katusha helped us today.
Then, with 40km to go, Purito made his move and attacked. He quickly passed the breakaway.
After great work by Amador and Costa and Team Sky he gets catched. Nibali uses this chance to attack himself.
And he is succesful. He wins ahead of our own Nairo Quintana who loses only 8 seconds and a few bonus seconds. Contador is a further 14 seconds behind while Purito loses 1'34''.
Quintana now leads in GC, Point classification and Youth classification. We are second in Team classification.
Again an hilly stage. Can Alejandro use this to his advantage?
With 16 km to go Valverde attacks.
And he can celebrate his victory in Balotelli style. He takes the GC lead.
We hope that the rest of the races will stay as successful for us as they look at the moment. You will hear from us!

Tirreno Adriatico Stage 6
A hilly stage where our job was to control the pace in the peleton. And we did. No dangerous rider could get a gap to Quintana and therefore, he defends his blue jersey.
A very difficult summit on La Montagne de Lure is the finish of today's stage. All experts expected the big attack of Chris Froome and his men in black and blue.
And here it is. Froome attacked and only Alejandro and Christopher Horner could follow.
Surprisingly, Horner sets a hard pace for Froome. They teamed up against Alejandro.
And it is too hard for Alejandro and Horner himself. Froomebot takes the win while Alejandro finish second. The question is can he defend the yellow jersey?
Yes. He only lost 31 seconds which is exactly the lead he still has in GC. But nothing is decided yet.
Tirreno Adriatico Stage 7
The last stage is a 9km long ITT. Quintana only loses 11 seconds to Vincenzo Nibali and therefore he is the winner of the 2013 edition of Tirreno-Adriatico. Congratulations! He also won Point, Mountain and Young Rider classification. We call this a total domination.
An hilly stage which was won through a strong break without GC ambitions. Alejandro easily defended the lead there.
The deciding time trial to the Col d'Eze which is 10km long. Froome is the top favourite but can Alejandro defend his lead of 31'' ?
Kreuziger has the best time with 18'56'' when the top duo sets off.
Froome crushes his best time by 30 seconds. This will be difficult for Alejandro!
But Alejandro successfully defends his lead by finishing only 21'' behind Froome.
That are two GC wins in only one week. It was a very successfull week for us getting us a lot of points.
Even the result of Milan-San Remo can't really disappoint us as we already have expected that. (Rui got 30th).

Continental Championship Squads:
Alex Dowsett
Jonathan Castroviejo
Rui Costa
Alejandro Valverde
Reserve (if anybody gets injured before the championships): Benat Intxausti
We don't expect anything here. This does not mean that we don't set any goals for us. We want to get a Top 15 here which will not be easy but can be achieved. Alejandro and Rui are mainly here to test their legs. They have the instruction to stop pacing when they don't feel good.
-
Alejandro Valverde
Rui Costa
Benat Intxausti
Giovanni Visconti
Eros Capecchi
Javier Moreno
Ruben Plaza
Jonathan Castroviejo
Jose Herrada
Reserves: Albert Llanet, Juan Jose Cobo
Only few teams have such a top depth team so we will aim for the win. It will be hard but it is not impossible as especially Alejandro and Rui will belong to the favourites on this terrain.
Andrey Amador
Nairo Quintana
Argiro Ospina
Maxime Oget
Andrey aims for a top 5 result and has three man starting before him who will give some important hints of the dangerous parts of the time trial. Another rider with high ambitions is Maxime Oget. He wants to win the Lanterne Rouge. I think the odds are quite good for him.
Andrey Amador
Nairo Quintana
Argiro Ospina
Maxime Oget
We have some high profile riders here with the likes of Amador, Quintana or interesting young gun Maxime Oget. Only problem could be that we don't have enough working power to make the race hard enough.
To change this, we have made a deal with some riders that are happy to ride for our team. The UCI has still to confirm it but the following riders will propably race for us: Dayer Quintana, Freddy Montana and Byron Guama. Despite none of them shown on our official homepage or team roster all of them have guilty contracts with Abarca Sports which are our official operator. They normally ride for our development team Movistar Team América but they have a second-team clause in their contracts. Therefore, it should not be a problem and they are needed as important domestiques.

[img-l]https://hl2mp.tsgk.com/hlstatsimg/flags/es_states/euskadi.png[/img-l] Invitation from Euskaltel - Euskadi [img-r]https://hl2mp.tsgk.com/hlstatsimg/flags/es_states/euskadi.png[/img-r]
To the management and certain riders of Movistar
In our evergoing effort to promote cycling in the "extended Basque country" meaning Euskadi, Navarre and Aquitaine the management of Euskaltel - Euskadi have decided to host a Basque race series taking place with one race in each season break.
That means that someone on your team is eligeable to take part.
Since we respect that riders are bound by their contracts we want you to have the final word in whether or not they may take part They will off course ride in their usual team kit.
The lineup will consist of as many professionals as possible as well as a talent-team from each of the three regions.
The route will vary slightly from race to race but the first edition will be held on the route used for Clásica San Sebastián.
Your eligible riders are:
Beñat Intxausti
Jonathan Castroviejo
Enrique Sanz
Imanoel Erviti
To take part all you have to do is confirm your participation below or by PM.
Since you have riders from more than one region you will be allowed to split them onto two teams should you wish so.
Sincerely
Alaon Etxeberdea
Manager of Euskaltel - Euskadi

The management of Team Movistar wants to get more information about the date of the race. As both Intxausti and Castroviejo wants to prepare themselves towards the continental championship they will not be allowed to race it if it will be held shortly before the championships.
If it would be after the continental they will be allowed to race it under the conditions that they will be insured (we don't know by heart if the insurrance would pay) and that the riders agree.
Feel free to contact the riders yourself to know whether they want to ride or not. But one thing is for sure I don't want to stop them to race there because it is always good if cycling in spain gets promoted and the Basque country is still part of Spain.
You will hear from me when the insurrance would not pay for any accidents..
Sincerely,
Michael Schröder
DS of Movistar Team

Movistar Team Goals Part II
Easy: Top 5 Liege-Bastogne-Liege
Medium: Top 3 Giro d'Italia
Hard: WIN Pais Vasco
After some very good results in the spring our sponsors were very optimistic and set three sponsor goals. According to our opinion they are too optimistic but we will try our best to reach them.
We are still waiting on three other sponsot goals but they still have to think about them. We hope they will be a little bit easier than the first three.

We are happy to have Beñat, Jonathan, Enrique and Imanoel in the race.
We will of course make sure that the races don't clash with any of the offical races incl. the continental championships.
Basque heroes will not get injured by the roads of Euskal Herria, so you have nothing to fear in relation to the health of your four riders, but of course we have made sure that all participating riders are insured as well.
Further details on the race series will be published later today.
As for the National affiliaition we will put empahasis in the word "still" while reminding you that a small part is French as well...

FIRST PART OF THE SEASON REVIEW
Hi everybody! Sorry for not posting lastly, but I was busy training, traning, and some races. I will now catch up on everything I haven't told you about. So that's the Tirreno Adriatico and the Criterium International
Tirreno Adriatico
I had some strong teammates here, including Quintana and Costa. The first stage was a TTT, where we finished 4th. The next 2 stages were flat, but I already lost 3 minutes there. I think it is my inexperience in the peleton. Stage 4 was a mountain stage, won by Quintana. I finished 5 minutes behind him. I lost 12 more minutes the next stage, but Quintana managed to keep his leaders jersey. Stage 6 was one for the break. Stage 7 was a TT, where I finished 84th. Quintana won the GC, and all the other individual classifications.
Stage 1 (TTT): 4th (+ 6)
Stage 2: 185th (s.t.)
Stage 3: 166th (+ 3'13)
Stage 4: 56th (+ 4'52)
Stage 5: 68th (+ 12'49)
Stage 6: 92th (+ 16'20)
Stage 7 (TT): 84th (+ 59)
GC: 76th ( + 31'49)
Criterium International
A flat stage, a TT and a mountain stage. The recipe for this race in France. I lost no time in the first stage, and my time trial was pretty decent considering I only lost 26 seconds to Bradley Wiggins. The third and final stage had an uphill finish, which showed that I'm still not ready for the real work.
Stage 1: 68th (s.t.)
Stage 2 (TT): 21th (+ 26)
Stage 3: 43th (+ 9'24)
GC: 43th (+ 9'13)
Youth: 21th (+ 9'13)
European Championships
I have not been selected for either of the European Championships, which I already expected. I have been named as a reserve for the road race, though. That doesn't mean I hope someone gets injured or something like that! I wish them the best of luck and I hope for some good results.

Hey Albert,
i don't want you to feel sad because of not being nominated for the Continental Championships. After your great work as a domestique for Quintana in Italy you proved your importance to our team by helping Jonathan to get another Top 5. Just from these facts i could have took you into the team but another reasons stopped me from doing this:
In the last twenty years there were many "Future TdF winners" around. Most of them did not even got a top ten at any grand tour. They were just too much hyped in the beginning of their careers and could not worked with it mentally or thought they would have to train anymore. I don't want this to happen for you as I see so much talent.
If i would let you race every big race now, all the big andorran newspapers and all those TV channels that are sending their program to millions of Andorrans would hunt you. You could easily lose your mental strength and then you would end up as "just another guy that had some talent".
So, don't worry but take your bike and train again so that you can compete in your next races. When talking about: Could you please tell me if your race plan is still okay to you?
Michael
