Apology accepted. I'm excited to begin racing as a pro. Can not wait till Tour of Qatar finally starts. I love the Tirreno Adriatico and I am glad to be in the line up...

Podium in Gabon
Yes! We have reached our first podium of the season. Behind Laurens de Vreese, Jacobus Venter brought us a great second spot in the GC.
Gerald Ciolek also managed to get 6th today. We are confident we can win one of the three remaining stages here.

RadioShack Leopard Trek will be competing alongside MTN Qhubeka at the tour de Langkawi. Alinejad, King and Rohregger and the rest of the squad will be up for the race and we hope the same can be said for MTN Qhubeka. |

Ciao Italia!
Today I'm taking the plane to Qatar, where I'll start my first race. Tour di Qatar is a race for strong sprinters, I can only hope I'm good enough. I would've prefered a race with more hills, as I like hills more than the strong winds in Qatar.
I know some teams are really targeting this race, but I hope to get some nice results anyway. The team is doing good in the rankings and I hope to keep it so. See you in Qatar!

Ciao Qatar! It's a me, Mario! I rode my first race today and immediatly got some points for the team. A 9th place is an awesome start here in Qatar. Of course, when the big names show up, it becomes hard for me to get a win, but I feel that with a bit of luck I can still get a top 5 or even a podium.
Next is the team time trial though, I'm a bit scared. I don't like the time trial and with the wind I fear the team will leave me behind. I just hope I can contribute something before they drop me. But after that, it should be 4 more sprints where I can go crazy. Looking forward to that!

Tour of Qatar
Stage 1
An exspected mass sprint. Mario did a great job here and came 8th in his first ever pro race.
Stage 2
It may not have looked like a very strong TTT, but we did a great job here with a 6th place, losing just 11 seconds!
Stage 3
Our riders really suffered from the hard wind today. A group of 5 included none of our riders and in the 2nd group Mario managed to hold on, but came last. Still, he came 27th in the stage.
So far the race has gone pretty well, but we hope we can achieve a top-5 or at least a top-10 later on.

Ciao Qatar! It's a me, Mario! Two more reports today, sorry I couldn't update after the time trial, but I was just too tired. I could hang on and the team did great! I was exhausted though, and I felt it in today stage. Yes, I managed to hold on to the front group in a hard and windy stage, but I was too tired to sprint. Anyway, I'm climbing in the rankings with these good results. If somehow I can get some boni seconds in the last 3 stages, I might be able to climb into the top 10, but it will be very hard.

Tour of Qatar
Stage 4
A difficult day for the team again. Konovalovas was in the break, that didn't make it. Guido came 20th in the sprint.
Stage 5
A better day for Mario. He came 13th in the sprint. Not really anything else to say about it...
Stage 6
The hilliest stage wasn't of good luck for Mario either. Nevertheless, he came 12th today, his 2nd best result here.
General
We did quite well as a team here. Mario brought us a top-10 and a top-15 in the GC. We did great in the TTT and have shown ourselves. All in all quite a good result.

Ciao Qatar! It's a me, Mario! The last stages of Qatar were diappointing for me. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. A 13th and a 12th place got me really close to a top top 10, but it wasn't enough. I would've prefered some more hilly stages, maybe for my next races. I finish with a decent GC, even though Quick Step was pretty much unstoppable.

Tour de Langkawi
We did a great job in Le Tour de Langkawi. Here follows a short overview.
Stage 1:
Nothing special. Victory for Howard
19 | Andreas Stauff | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. |
Stage 2:
Stauff improves a little, but Venter has a painful crash. Victory for Brookes
18 | Andreas Stauff | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. |
Stage 3:
Venter has recovered surprisingly well and jumps in the break.
He also picks up enough points for the mountains jersey.
At the finish, it's Hintermüller who already gives us a good result with 5th. Pellizotti wins the stage.
5 | Josef Hintermuller | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. |
Stage 4:
Reimer was in the break
Brookes wins the mass sprint.
16 | Andreas Stauff | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. |
Stage 5:
The decisive stage.
Tewelde unfortunately has to abandon.
Hintermüller looks really strong today.
Unfortunately, he only comes 4th. Spilak wins.
4 | Josef Hintermuller | MTN - Qhubeka | + 1'13 |
Stage 6:
Reimer is in the break
This break manages to win with a huge gap. De Maar takes over the GC, Hintermüller drops a spot. Reimer is 3rd today.
3 | Martin Reimer | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. |
Stage 7:
The break wins with a minimal gap. Stauff crashes today, but is able to continue. It's Tortelier who wins the stage.
40 | Josef Hintermuller | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. |
Stage 8:
Very quiet today. Break wins with a minimal gap again, Kovalev wins.
64 | Martin Reimer | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. |
Stage 9:
Thomson is in the break today.
Once again, a minimal gap at the finish. Thomson is 4th.
4 | Jay Thomson | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. |
Stage 10:
Reimer in the break
We finally get a mass sprint again, this time won by Guardini.
27 | Martin Reimer | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. |
Final GC:
Hintermüller fifth, so we reached our goal.
1 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | 33h23'28 | 2 | Simon Spilak | Katusha Team | + 54 | 3 | Franco Pellizotti | Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela | + 1'09 | 4 | Fabio Duarte | Colombia | + 2'07 | 5 | Josef Hintermuller | MTN - Qhubeka | + 2'35 | 6 | Travis Jones | Sojasun | s.t. | 7 | Janez Brajkovič | Astana Pro Team | + 2'49 | 8 | Pieter Weening | Orica - GreenEdge | + 3'02 | 9 | Esteban Chaves | Colombia | + 4'36 | 10 | Pieter Jacobs | Topsport Vlaanderen - Baloise | + 5'08 |

Ciao Italia!
After the disappointement from Qatar, the manager wants me as a leadout for Ciolek. Of course I understand the decision, but I hope I'll get more chances later on. The next few races will probably be a bit too hard for me, but I'll do my best to help Ciolek as long as I can. I'm just happy to ride these beautiful races in Italy already.

Hey coach,
I have a present for you:
Spoiler
Your communication towards me is disappointing. I said that I would race every race you tell me to race. But at least I want to know which races I should race. It is not okay that I hear from the media that I am supposed to race at this weekend in Spain when I do not know anything from that.
I don't want to take this personally so I assume that it is your English skills that are not okay. So I bought you this dictionary so that you can improve there.
Cheers,
Johnny
Btw, I attached your last message which dealt with my calender:
Hi Johnny

Ciao Spagna, it's a me, Mario! I rode La Clasica Almeria today. It was a good result for the team, as Ciolek finished on the podium. But we could have done so much more, if only it wasn't for one of those Lotto Belisol guys. I think it was Alex Fischer who did some unfair elbowing to get Dehaes behind the Belkin train. I almost fell and Ciolek lost the wheel of Brouwer. I fell back 50 places and Ciolek was on his own for the sprint. I'm really furious about this, the race organisation say they don't have the incident on camara, but this isn't over yet!
