Tour of the Basque Country stage 1
Today was a disaster. I came in outside the top 100, and I lost 5:00. On a hilly stage, my favourite. Oh NO!!! I had lots of problems, starting early on. I blame the nasty Sky people. They are very evil, on the descent they all blocked me, so I dropped out the front group with them. Then, when I was talking to the DS in the team car, they all snuck off! I was all lost and alone so I lost lots of time.
Thankfully not all is ruined for the team. Some of the riders, like Francis Mourey, stayed in the front group. I guess they are leaders now Hopefully I get a few chances to attack as that is what I do best. I am very sorry for all my poor performances so far. I promise to get back the nasty Sky people. |

Tour of the Basque Country, stages 2+3
Stage 2 was flat and boring, even I didn't lose time! Stage 3 was much more interesting. Despite being our highest rider in GC, Francis Mourey got in the break. I wasn't doing so good behind though He win though, and I am happy for him. Maybe one day I might win something, or even get on the podium, that would be great!
I ended up losing 4:00, again lots of teammates beat me, and I am outside the top 100, but I am happy as it doesn't matter so much, as now I work for Francis, who is winning the GC! Go FDJ! |

Cervero inspired
Hello, Delfi is here again! I have been watching the recent cobbled classics at home. Not my thing, I hat those races! However, I have been proudly cheering on Peter Pal and the other FDJ boys. I am very proud of them and their amazing results!
This isn't my type of racing, but I feel inspired for my races, the hilly classics. These will be kicking off soon and I'm desperate to start. If I equal or maybe even surpass Peter's races I will be very happy. In summary, congratulations to him, and let's hope I will continue our team's successes. |

Hey guys!
Here is the happy man. After a week of cobbles, hills, mud and suffering i'm here and i'm happy. My first year in the big stage and i can go with the bests. I'm proud of my team and my teammanager to allowing this. I promise i train harder and return here in the next spring.
I think some quietly weeks will come, but i will help my team and return in best shape to race Eneco.

Inspiration is overrated
Delfi is here
Unfortunately, my ever existing bubble of confidence has broken. Yes, I'm reporting on stage 4 of the Tour of the Basque Country. This was a hard stage, but we came into things with the yellow jersey, and I still thought I could grab a stage. Things didn't exactly go to plan though.
Our whole team, including me, worked hard through the stage. We caught the break, but kept up the pace, or the attacks would ruin Francis' chances. I wouldn't mind all this work if it worked, but we couldn't control everything. The best riders ripped the race up. I fell back, to finish 127th.
Francis lost lots of time too, and isn't in the top ten anymore!
I don't see how things can get better from here. The only benefit, is that being in 130th, I have no obligations nor am I a threat, so maybe I can get a top 100 or try an attack. |

Message from the Manager
Delfi,
We know it might seem early in the season but it's make or break time for you. So far your performances have been shockingly below expectation and frankly it's not good enough. You must Top10 at least one of the Ardennes Classics to keep your contract with the team. Anything less, even 3 11th places, will result in termination of your contract at the end of season period.
Our expectations were never that high of you, just the occasional stage win and Top25 GC result. But you have not delivered on anything set as a goal, whereas other members of the team have pushed above and beyond, even Mourey took a stage win here while you flounder down the back.
That is our position. We hope to keep you around but can no longer afford the costs of failure.

Are you sure there is no typo? Maybe top 100 is more realistic |

@Hobbit - There is the ultimate challenge/motivation. If it works we're all smiles. If it doesn't work them i'm all smiles

Amstel Gold Race
Hello everyone. It's Delfi again, and I've just finished racing the Amstel Gold Race, and my oh my, what a race it was.
I crashed quite early on, in the wet weather. It was very painful but I got back on my bike and rode back up to the lead group. It was important I tried my very hardest, because my cruel team manager wouldn't accept any excuses, I would be fired if I didn't get a top 10, no matter what!
I felt awful, unlike the start of the day, where my legs were the best all year. Still, I stayed with the main group, at least until things heated up again. I put in a few attacks, but I could barely keep up and couldn't contribute. The crash was really beginning to take it's toll and the pace was punishingly high. I carried on though, just keeping in groups, not responding to many attacks.
Ahead of me, the Spanish fought it out for the win. Rodriguez won, with Valverde a strong 2nd. I came home 18th after a lack luster sprint. Despite that crash, this is probably my biggest result so far, and I am very proud of it, despite what the team manager might think. I think it's a bit unfair I lose a chance to prove myself. However, I feel if I do this good in te Flèche Wallone, or Liege- Bastogne- Liege I will surely get at least a top ten. See you all next time. |

The hills will be a bit too long for him, I fear. But he would be an ok rider on CT level
