It's the new betting mini-game for the Vuelta, bet how many times Malkael uses the word "Whilst" . Though there will be fewer in the Stage 2 preview since there is more to talk about.

what do you think he's going to get, a podium spot?
Around fifth place. Can't see Mollema or Ten Dam even getting close to that.
And they did Good tour + Crits + now a good Vuelta? Don't remember anyone but Sastre who did tour+crits and did good in the Vuelta
Mollema was 4th in the Vuelta after he rode the Tour. He didn't do much in that Tour though, bar a 2nd place from a breakaway. Ten Dam finished 8th last year, also having ridden the Tour de France that year.
But honestly I don't think they can do anything in this Vuelta.

Less one for the sprints. Altough, he would probably not hang in the 3 weeks. |

So after 4 weeks vacation I came back just in time to watch La Vuelta . Had a lot to read in the forum.
Malkael its great news to see that u still are doing the Race preview, I really love them.
I still wonder why people still rate Garmin - Sharp in TTT so high even after the didnt manage to be in the top 3 in Giro and Tour and I think they dont have a team to do it in La Vuelta.
La Vuelta has been the best GT in the last 2 years imo, i wonder if this year is goin to be the best one again.
I wonder if Jesleyh ever take the fanboy glasses off. After some interesting statements during and after the Giro like (Gesink should get a 78 Mo or Gesink can climb as good as Pozzovivo and the best one Kelderman is as good as Betancur only a bit worse in the Mountains) it was great he was on vacation during the Tour, but im sure he will strike back during la Vuelta
Que viva La Vuelta. |

Belkin already with eight riders. But does this mean that Bos has used doping or something? Don't understand it completely.

Possibly. Either that or he's in poor health. |

Sadly, my bet is that doping might be the reason. |

I disagree.
Giro lineup was Stetina, Navardauskas, Haas, Danielson, Vande Velde, Hesjedal, Millar, Dekker and Hunter. At least 6 good TTT riders.
Tour was Talansky, Martin, Vande Velde, Navardauskas, Dennis, Hesjedal, Millar, Danielson and Bauer. Only weak link there was Martin.
For the Vuelta, it's basically only Rasmussen and Farrar. The rest are average or worse.

Here is some of the information for you that might help to explain what low levels of cortisol means:
https://inrng.com/...isol-test/
Cortisol is hormone produced by the adrenal glands which sit on top of your kidneys. When confronted with a shock these glands produce adrenalin but also cortisol in response to the stress. Skimming the medicine it has two effects, one is anti-inflammatory and the other is to help the body access more energy. In both cases there are advantages to an athlete and doping with cortisone has existed for decades. Aching muscles hurt less and instead of a surge of adrenalin, the cortisone provides a more sustained boost. Abuse has a catabolic effort, breaking down muscle tissue. Several ex-riders from the 1970s and 80s have stated they had major problems, for example two time Tour winner Bernard Thévenet, the man who dethroned Eddy Merckx said “I was doped with cortisone for three years, I’m now unable to ride a bike.”
Note the difference, cortisol and cortisone. When someone starts taking big doses of cortisone, perhaps via injection, the body stops producing the natural cortisol.
The MPCC “health check” sees riders on member teams tested for their cortisol levels. Like an anti-doping test this is random, there’s little warning and the tests could occur at any race. Low cortisol levels are indicative of cortisone doping or a health problem, perhaps a disease or a concern with the adrenal glands so it’s good to stop them in any case. If the rider were to, say, crash then the body would respond by producing cortisol for the inflammation but a rider with low levels would not and therefore the body’s natural ability to recover is endangered. This is particularly worrying in the case of a head injury where the body cannot produce its own anti-inflammation response to a cranial injury. This testing is above and beyond anything WADA or the UCI do, the use of cortisone is legal these days. It was banned in the past and WADA is monitoring with a view to banning it again but this is far from certain.

Well. I really thought Gesink would do better in the Giro.
I said, await the Giro before lowering his MO. After he was bad in the Giro, I admitted 'defeat', like I was supposed to.
And I didn't rate Betancur that high in the mountain, just very good in the hills.
I didn't think him as a good climber pre-Giro.
Which somewhat makes sense, since Kelderman finished before Betancur in Romandie, the last big race before the Giro.
But allright, always nice to hear when people want you to leave the forum...
