Crappy video quality? Rubbish, i watched Six Days At Rotterdamn at 400 kb/s and it wasnt bad at all.
Why thank you. I was the guy crossing my fingers in the broadcast truck hoping it'd come through on the internet as good as it looked in real life.
400kbs IS good quality, but we do broadcast live at 1,200kbs, which is three times better! And archives are at 1,800kbs -- four times better, and the same as TV quality but with non of the loss you'd get from pictures coming through an aerial! |

A complete and utter joke. The chance to improve cycling's popularity with our own pro race, and it gets hardly any coverage...
And whats with the rolling road closures? The use of these in the past two years has proved its just not reliable or therefore safe for cycling...
Perhaps I get a little overworked over this, but it annoys me so much!
don't worry it annoys every British cycling fan
Simon Gerrans said in an interview in Cycling Weekly that he has ridden in Britain a couple of times and the Archer SP was the most terrifying race of his career
Riders stop coming to Britain for races because it's so dangerous, they've got to safen it up very soon

Oh well, unsafe races happen anywhere...
the ENECO Tour is terrible here...the police are jackasses and half of the time cars come on the route... just in front or after the riders |

read this:
"It happened at the bottom of the descent after the Wanne. Instead of going left, they took us straight. One of the signallers had left his post. He'd gone on ahead and didn't stay there. By the time we realised it, we were halfway up another hill and couldn't come back down again.
"The peloton had to do an extra hill, but the lead riders didn't go wrong. The commissaires messed around until they made a decision about it. I told Tristan Hoffman [CSC's new director] to tell Vandevelde to keep going. In Tirreno-Adriatico a few years ago, the peloton went the wrong way and it was the end of the race. Back then it was up to the riders to know. Apparently now, the commissaire said we have a thing called "un accident de course", which means they have the right to stop the race and restart it with the proper time differences.
"It depends on which point of view you have: On one side, there's Davitamon, Discovery, and me. On the other is Rabobank and Liberty. For me it was double sided: a) I've got someone in front for the stage win, and b ) I've got Frank Schleck, Bobby Julich, and Michael Blaudzun trying to open it up for the overall classement.
"I was talking to the commissaire, who said that if they [the breakaways] don't stop he'll disqualify them and cancel the whole stage. So I said, 'OK, we'll go ahead and we'll discuss this later.'"
"For me, I wanted to make a decision and do it quickly. When they stopped them, they didn't give them the full 6'30. If they could have had that extra minute, then maybe it would have been different. Also, all the other teams regrouped; Rabobank and Liberty gained some extra men. At the end of it, it was a completely bad situation. It was very bad for the riders, the race, everything.
"But we had to keep racing. I'm frustrated with how it was, with everyone being inconvenienced. You're there to race, not sit around discussing it. We had to go on."
I've seen worse. This year at a stage of the Volta a Portugal that ended near my house, the following happened:
There were two roads. actually, they're two lanes with a separation in the middle, but who cares. There were three trillion (slight exaggeration) marshalls and signs pointing to the road on the right. The road on the left was closed off. there were markings on the ground pointing to the road on the right. that crossing had been discussed at the riders' briefing before the stage and was in the route-guide that all the riders are given.
Yet for some reason, the Lampre rider leading the peloton decided to go left.....his teammates followed....so the rest of the peloton did as well....
In the end, the only effect it had on the stage's finish was making it more exciting by giving the breakaway guy a few more seconds before being caught.
But still...how much of an idiot can someone be?

Glad to hear Britain isn't the only country that has problems...the only problem is, there is only one race in the whole of the UK that runs on closed roads...and its mainly for amateurs (The etape Caledonia, in the highlands around Pitlochry, Scotland).
I think the ultimate failure was the 2006 race when the riders were so unhappy that there was cars on the route (as you would be) that they refused to race and went really slowly. |

to be quite fair, it wasn't this country who had the problem. it was the idiot italian who went down the wrong road despite all the warnings otherwise
I wish I knew who the guy was... (other than the fact he was a Lampre rider...)

everyone was....the whole peloton followed him, so everyone was quite mad at him.
except Grillo who won the stage and André Cardoso who wore the mountains jersey into his hometown. they were both ecstatic everyone else wanted to kill him. I think it might've been Gavazzi, but I'm not sure.

well, I've finally signed up for a Premium account at cycling.tv and I must say for someone who enjoys re-watching previous races as I do it's great
right now I'm watching the Ventoux stage of the Dauphiné that I never got to see live at the time
it's just too bad I can't see a way to get this bigger than the small window. specifically I'd like full screen

sometimes installed players make problems... it should be going to full screen double klicking the window
the innertube (cy.tv forum) or the cy.tv-support should help otherwise |

Full screen has always worked for me. Did you try ALT + Enter? Or just double clicking the window?
(I'm pretty sure you have tried this, but you never know..)
Otherwise, try another browser.. |

I'm on Vista with firefox and I can't even try these suggestions out because there's something even worse wrong now.
yesterday the videos worked fine, but now I get a "please log in" when I try to see any video. So i log in....and I get the "please log in" again. No "wrong username/Password" messages, just "please log in" over and over and over again. So I can't watch any videos right now.
EDIT: and just as I posted this, it started working....coincidence. and here's the stupidest part: I'm not even logged in and I'm watching the archives
EDIT2: and a minute later it's not working again...I'm back to "please log in"...log in...."please log in"....log in..."please log in"....etc

Hmmm...I almost signed up for a premium account last night, but I couldn't be bothered in the end. I was going to do it after I get paid, but if the site has loads of problems like Isso is experiencing I might just leave it altogether. |

Spot on. One of the first things I did when C.tv hired me was to file a full report on the website, and top of the list of priorities was to make it Firefox compatible. As you can see, that was an issue that hasn't been dealt with. Using IE makes everything run much smoother, and since you've already got it installed on your PC anyway that shouldn't be too much hassle.
As for the logging in issue... I don't know what could cause that, other than you a) trying to watch content you're not subscribed to; or b) You're unable to log in for some reason (incorrect password or unactivated account). Have you ever successfully logged in? Try logging in using the side panel on the front page, and if it doesn't work then send me a PM and I could try looking into it. |
