Heh, I was excited for a moment there and then Van Heerden hit the front with 1500m to go on a windy day and I realised the Saffer had done it again.
Pleased he was there and to be fair the top 5 are all top class sprinters too. Puma's train managed that pretty well - almost life like with a late train type thing.

I don't know if my sprinters know that they are allowed to overtake riders when they slow down. Another great positioning ruined because they are not clever :S

Dear Messrs Sonnery, Manarelli and Napolitano,
Do it like that in the future, you Muppets. Congrats to Puma. |

I started to believe in the unthinkable when I saw Van Avermaet being in the lead and Bennati looked a bit trapped with less than a kilometre to go. No victory this time either though for Greg, but 5th is a very good and surprising result. Best stage result from him so far (considering his only better stage placing was in a much, much weaker field).
The TTT was not hopeless from our side, but i don't expect to much of Duarte either. I hope he can go in a breakaway on a mountain stage and try to grab a stage win later on.

Awesome. This race is already better than anticipated. Guerao performing better here than in the Vuelta is very surprising though. I suspect the leadout riders gained a fair bit of nationalistic bonus to support him here. Lavoine in 9th is cool also.

Good solid start for Ponzi. Showing up there in the sprints already is a promising sign in the pursuit for points against the major GC contenders. |

Oh well. This is going to be an awful Tour
Only my own fault though, as Vanoverschelde seems to be AI's pick for the sprints.
Here's for hoping for breakaways then
And congratulations to Puma-SAP, Bennati was simply a class or three above the rest. |

we just need to build sprint train, no matter how "strong" are our lead-out men

Sorry about the (substantial) delay to this stage. I hope everyone else can understand why, with the *actual* Tour being on and everything.

Congratulations to Festina, Guerao is probably the rider I mind the least to lose out to after his sub-par season.

Wow Teruel can barely get a top 10 in a C1 race, now he gets one in the biggest race of the year. I call that a huge success.

That was absolutely awesome. Basically the same sprint train as in the Vuelta where he fucked everything up. Here he already got a win and a 2nd place. Can't figure out what is going on
Very very nice start to the race. The TTT was below-par. the two flat stages far above expectations!

I wonder why Van Avermaet went so early when he had the wheel of Bennati. Good to see him participating in the sprints, though. A good Tour for him so far. Corioni on the other hand has been totally invisible.
A star in the book to Vanmarcke as well for getting our sponsors some TV-time!
