Ezinne Okparaebo made it through to the semifinals so I'm pleased with day 2 so far.
Highlight for me was Mos win on the 10k, highly unsurprising I must say. I did expect a little bit more of a few, perhaps Gebremeskel as well as Merga.

Christophe LeMaitre is out of the remainder of the World Championships and even the season with, what is believed to be, a severe ankle strain...
Europes hope of getting an individual medal in the sprint events have just diminished severly.... Also France is probably out of the medal contention for the relay medal... Seems like Germany and GB are Europes best hopes for the 4x100 relay. Ah Jaysus...

Ireland wins a gold medal... in a 50k race walk too...
I bet that in the next Olympics a scottish guy will run the 100m in 8.00.

Allright, one of my favourite athletes, Yelena Isinbayeva, can go fuck her self.
Openly supporting discrimination against gay and lesbians has no place anywhere and I've lost absolutely all respect for her. Yesterday I was so happy that she had won the gold, but now I'd rather see the gold go to Hitler.
Hopefully she ends her career soon.

To Robert Heffernan:
A hero and to be honest the walking competitions are always weird with soo many warnings and DSQ because they "ran".
Always great when a "small" country wins something big. In Ireland I guess it is a great story but in Germany it would be as worth as almost nothing.. Because of football and who cares about athletics.
To Isinbayeva:
I guess she does the same stuff like Katharina Witt did in the former German Democratic Republic (being the mascot of a regime) although Witt never said something as stupid as..

It was said more in jest... And I have to defend my "competitors" and drinking mates from National League Finals!
As for Isibayeva: I agree. She used to be one of my favourite athletes, but she has lost most of my respect... Then again, most russian athletes (if not all) of her profile and popularity will probably recieve money to give such statements..., Afterall, there are rumors that the bid for the Worlds was all insinuated as part of a propaganda mission by Putin and just carried out by his loyals in the IOC and the russian olympic committee...

What if she really thinks what she said? Politics does not belong to sport, but nobody was so crazy because of famous black glove (in negative way, apart from some racists ofc ). Is that bad just because you guys does not agree with her? Majority of russians has same oppinion btw, it is different world to ours,to some extent.
But sport is what matters, let judge them according to that.
Hejnova was awesome yesterday, nobody was even close to her.

Sorry in advance for the reducto at hitlerum argument, but Germany 1936 was a different country, with most people agreeing or conveniently ignoring what was done to many minorities, which was completely against human rights (which were only proclaimed in 1948 though).
We respected the host back then, even though I doubt most people here would have thought it was right, if they had an opinion. Look where it led to...
Oh, and btw, we Europeans (as in EU countries) have constitutionally the Bill of Human Rights as the ideal to reach. Live with it. |

As you suggest, you cant use Hitler and his time Germany as a valid argument, i find it as discussion foul.
Also nobody is killing millions of people here and Russia is not only country worldwide to not allow gay marriages, last time i looked.
Part i bolded is another discussion foul from you, there is nothing about people of same sex having right to marry or have children in the Bill of Rights as i know it. And as you speak about Europeans, while i would not rate Russia as the european country much for this purpose. The mentality is different to rest of Europe in major part of Russia.
Btw. i have nothing against gay marriages, i just defended athlete that voiced his oppinion and was called a Putins pupet because of that. And this thread should be about athletics.

Russia...... That country is a joke, with a guy like Putin ruling it as a dictator and with ancient thoughts, neglecting the human rights constantly. Can't be taken serious, really.
And Isinbayeva: thought she was cool, pretty hot for an athlete, but I'm done with her, somebody else can take her....

The british Bill of Rights still constitutes that you technically allowed to marry a sheep though... Hessia in germany still has the death Penalty... Those two examples are to be grouped in the same category as your example of same sex marriage in the bill of rights.
Anywho, the 200 heats for the mens were this morning... Gemilli ran a new PB, so I dont think that he has much more to give. The final seems possible zthough, while I doubt that Vicaut will make it to the final. He ran 20,50 this morning but with his PB being 20,30 i doubt hell get very far, especially since there are a couple of runners like Ashmeade who can take him on easily... Its a shame that Gemili is Europes only hope for the final and even a medal. Not saying that he is bad, but this is gonna be a pure Jamaican-USA + 1 European final for sure... Plus, the only European with remotely realistical chances for a medal is out for the rest of the season (C.LeMaitre)...

What you mean by that? Quite a lot of female athletes are very hot...
Want a few examples?
Inna Weit, Jessie Barr, Daphne Shippers, Brianne Theissen Eaton and Hejnova aint looking too bad either... Those are the ones I can think off just of the top of my head...

Well, most of them (not those you mentioned, but in general) aren't exactly hot, to my humble opinion. But indeed there are more: Ivet Lalova, Theissen Eaton, and I forget the names of the others...

A tip if you want to see hot athletes: Stop watching Womens Shot Put or other Womens Throwing events...
By the way, Daria Klishina's official proffession is model!

It's bad because she openly discriminates against a group of people, what Russia is doing (and seeminly approving of) goes against the human rights.
How can you respect the opinions of someone who says that homosexuals and lesbians arn't normal people, what if she had said the same thing about coloured people? Because I can't see the difference between those two.
But let's not argue about it here, if we continue we should continue in the dfficult topics.
Both Ndure (100m) and Ingebrigtsen (1500m) made it to the final! Woop!

You're right. Let's all stop caring about the genocide in Syria, after all it's not the only country where it happens, so fuck those people, let them die.

Let's stop this discussion now and move it to the difficult section.
Yay for Sindre Buraas in the 5000m final! Norwegian Kenyan!
