After two successive campaigns through France and Italy, the time has come to the first real classic of the season. So far we have seen the young and talented climbers representing themselves, but now it is time for the Norwegian Vikings to shine. Our sponsors demand top 5!
VRT will start with the following squad:
Leader: Edvald Boasson Hagen
Squad: Hushovd, Kristoff, Nordhaug, Hoem, Ulissi, Nicki Sørensen, Phinney.
The Race!
Half way out in the race, 8 riders have created a gap of 8 minutes down to the peloton. It should not be enought!
51 km from finish-line, the distance is now only 3 minutes.
Boasson Hagen has just informed the team that he feels fantastic today.
Thor Hushovd on the other hand does'nt have the best of days.
Only 41 km left, and Geslin tries a desperate attack. Will it hold in?
At the end, there was really not doubt who would win this. Last season he blasted his way to the top with an incredible 3 wins during his first Tour de France, as well as capturing the green shirt. Now he is the master of the classics as well.
Our leader ended up on 5th spot, which we are partly satisfied with. Eddy himself felt great today, and thought a win could be in range. Maybe next season?
Coming up!
