The overall podium looks all but sealed, I think. Will be hard for Vandenbroeck or Valverde to drop them on the Télegraphe.
I'll eat my hat if VDB makes the podium

Wow that seemed quite the stage. I think one or two of your pictures are not in the right order ember, but it is fine. Was a pretty hard stage to keep track of and one of those that in the end as so often it seems looked like it could rip things apart but was pulled together in the end.
There were times when Wiki looked a bit like another team who likes to dominate the Dauphine!
Ran Margaliot rode superbly for us, that was a real pick me up. Certainly our Dauphine has been better and in this case luckier (and I am pretty certain getting in breakaways in mainly a case of pot luck) than Suisse but who knows boys if you are watching give it a go .
That really was a very lucrative breakaway indeed as it looks like the four guys will share the mountains classification points.

That could very well be, as Photobucket has started to mix up the pictures when uploading, giving them in the wrong order when I'm going to copy them in on the forum. Though, I think it's about right now. I must apologize to UBS-BMC and Bushwackers, as I completely forgot a picture of Santamorita when being at the summit of Télégraphe.
As for my team's racing, it was lucky AI decided that Contador, Alarcon and Sicard should "stop" racing on the descent, as Contador could have threatened Spilak's second place there.
The final stage of the race will be posted tomorrow morning |

That looked quite solid from VDB, though there was some luck involved to keep 4th.
Now bring that home!

That's a perfect result to cap the race with Santaromita. More than I could have expected with the team I sent here!

Fantastic race from Phinney and the team to end up with the overall, points, young rider, and team classifications. Pinot did well to finish in 16th as well.
With this point haul i am starting to see us being a legitimate contender at the very top of the standings, thought the Tour will be a real weak spot for us with Goss and Pinot as our strongest riders there. Here's to hoping for breakaways there. I still think Mattias has a leg up on us, while a big Tour could springboard any one of a number of teams into a great position to take home the crown.

These stages are a joke to everyone. I never had a split second of doubt in my mind that Phinney would win the stage despite being 1min behind the very Best riders of the race.
One could say "impressive stuff by Phinney!" But then one would be kidding himself, as this is the Way 90% of the hilly/mountian stages end up.
Contador in 3rd is a massive achievement looking at the AI of the game, so I have to be happy with that.

Impressive stuff from Phinney
A stage win and a breakaway second (resulting also in joint second on the KoM) is almost as good as we could hope for from such a race.
I can understand the frustration with the way gaps work and the AI sometimes. But this race seemed about right to me when I look at Stats versus final finishing positions.
As we have seen in Suisse when a rider gets in the yellow jersey he is given massive powers! (It is overpowered if you ask me). Phinney and Hagen have been the stars of these two stage races.

If it wasn't for the Ventoux massive gaps, this would be a race decided by bonus seconds. |

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Suprised to see Keinath and Valverde losing lots of time here, that shows what a bit of bad luck could've done on this stage.
Luckily. VDB rode impressive here from start to finish, and this race finally confirms racing no GTs with him was probably the best planning decision I made this season.
Thanks ember for the very quick and high-quality reports, and congratulations once more to Wikipedia for Phinney's stunning performance.

Absolutely. The final GC is about right (Gesink should've been better), but the way the stages form is frustrating as hell, because you just know that when the first line of attacks form then they are brought back by low-sub-top riders - I always cross my fingers that my riders doesn't attack in the first wave as it's always nullified within a few minutes.
And when you finally get the hole needed, then the riders stop riding and gives away a minute in the final 2km, only to be overtaken in the sprint by the dropped rider. Happened in the Vuelta aswell.

@ SoTD: Yeah your right about the frustration of the attacks coming to nothing. It happens over and again.
Have not seen what happened on Mount Ventoux that often but Phinney just nailing that sprint on the final stage was sickening.
The sitting up thing I have observed lots and no gaps being recorded as finishes where there clearly was one also.

The sitting up is the worst thing about pcm12. A strong break always sits up in hilly stages.
Every single time.

The first race where Sicard didn't overachieve. Still a very good race by him though.
