We decided to do something different today, and when the break went clear, we made sure we had a man up there. Daniel Lloyd joined the breakaway along with 6 other men, quickly taking a 4minute lead over the peloton.
With 70km remaining we suffered our first mechanical of the season. Luke Grivell-Mellor was fortunately quickly aided by the service bike, and he was able to work his way back to the pack.
With just 20km remaining Dan found himself swept up by the pace of the peloton. We'd hoped for more but with such small time differences it wasn't unexpected. Never the less, a good day for us, showing off the team colours in the breakaway.
We decided not to put together our own train this afternoon, and Roger (Hammond) instead led Ed Clancy up to the wheel of Brambilla(Atlas Personal.) They've had a successful train throughout the race and we decided to try and make use of that.
6km... A Change of plan by Ed when he spots the wheel of Eckhout unmarked! The sprinters seem poorly organised so perhaps this is our day!
Eckhout takes it as we fade to anonymity once again. We miss out on even a top 10 today so it's back to the drawing board ahead of our next race!

Well, we didn't have the best time in the sprints here in New Zealand, but all in all we've had a pretty strong race. Ed was hoping for more I think, but 4th in the Points and 5th in the GC is a good performance from him and we're pleased with that.
As well as those results, we also finished second in the Team Classification, just 5" behind the winning Efapel-Glasdrive Squad. Taking away with us the need to work on our sprint train, all in all we've had a good race.

Ed should be happy with the way he rode in New Zealand

With just one race for the team in January, mostly it's been about building rider fitness. Never the less we got some good results in that race which suggests good things for the rest of the season.
The WT also contains just one race in January, the Santos Tour Down Under. Alexandr Kolobnev was the victor in a hard fought race, Eventually managing to hold off Woet Poels of Vacansoleil by just 4".
2 National Championships to tell you about as well this month. In Australia, Matt Goss managed to take the RR, whilst Skys Richie Porte took the TT, 1" ahead of Cadel Evans.
New Zealand saw a sprint finish won by Greg Henderson in the RR whilst a dominant Jesse Sergeant headlined a Radioshack 1-2.
"Condor Flying High" Rider of the Month
Each month we'll hold a competition amongst our riders, and I will award the "Condor Flying High" badge to one of the teams riders judging upon his performances during that month.
Januarys winner has to be the Team Leader in New Zealand, Ed Clancy! With second place in the opening TT, and then 3 Consecutive top 10 finished Ed gave the side strong final placings in our opening race of the season, and scoops himself a nice £2500 bonus from the team thanks to our key sponsor Condor Cycles!
February Race Country Length Valley of Sun SR 3 Days
We see just one race again this month, and it holds a similar format to the event we recently completed in New Zealand. The opening day is a 23km TT where we will hope to perform strongly, followed by one day which will be fought out between the Punchers and Sprinters, before we finish off with a stage guaranteed to see a lightening pace due to it's short length of just 70km.
The Team
Ed Clancy shares joint leadership in the States with Kristian House, who's targeting the second stage. They have strong support from Roger Hammond, James McCallum, Daniel Lloyd, Will Stephenson, Elliot Porter and Edward Laverack.
Good luck to them all!

The opening day of our American Calendar is a 23km TT. We're hoping Ed can do us proud this afternoon, he's 3rd to last off the ramp, so clearly the organisers are expecting a strong result...
Ed didn't just threaten, he smashed it! After riding through the intermediate sprint in provisional 5th place, 7" behind, we gave him the go ahead to throw everything at it in an all or nothing attempt. Clearly already having a few days in the legs helped him, given that as he crossed the finish line, his time was a full 21" clear of second!
Well we're not sure how well he'll get over the hills of tomorrow, but we're keen to defend this jersey, and it's the perfect start from which to do so!
Spoiler
The best of the earlier starters was Madison Genesis' TT specialist Andrew Tennant. Eventually finishing in 4th place 25" down.
Nathan Brown shows he will be one for the future with a powerful ride for the 3rd place today.
At the other end of the scale, the 2nd place went to 37 year old Christopher Baldwin. Baldwin is an ex US TT champion, who looked good for the win right up until Clancy powered home.

@selwink Cheers man!
@Sutty He's aiming to peak for the Halfords tour and NC's, most of his racing will be finished after the end of May/June
@Maxime Little bit! He gained 30" on his nearest rivals over the second half of the course!

The hardest stage of the tour, and the main thing which will stand between Ed and overall victory here. Obviously the big aim is to help him get over the climbs to the finish and maintain his lead, however we do have our strongest puncher here, Kristian House , so if it's too much for Clancy , we will fall back on him, riding today with a free role within the peloton.
We were happy to let a group go early this morning in the hope it might slow the pace. 5 men went clear, none of them massively strong over the hills which helped in our decision not to bring them back.
As the race entered the final 85km, we sent 4 riders to the front of the pack to reduce the gap. In an ideal world we'd give the break the stage, as no rider was within 2 minutes of Ed's time.
Uk Youth joined forces with a couple of the American teams (5-Hour and Optum) in order to make it harder as the wind picked up. However, Clancy was climbing strongly and with 44km to go a combination of gentle pace and some good form had seen him still safely in the peloton.
With just 21km remaining, the Portugese rider Matias of OFM decided to try a solo attempt from the break. He still held a 2minute gap, the same as his differential in the GC.
The American teams were clearly after a group sprint, they shut the break don with 8km to go at which point we got Ed onto the wheel of James McCallum , who would attempt to lead him out in the sprint.
A tremendously tight sprint saw Ed grab a podium and James hold on for a top 5! Graham Briggs was the fastest man today, with an entirely british podium!

Maxime: About to get better!
Sutty: More than slightly!
At just 70km we'll need to mark everything. Expect a frenetic pace today, hopefully, without any hiccups for Ed and the boys.
On such a short final stage we were mindful of any attacks. Kristian House went straight to the sharp end of the peloton, bringing back some dangerous early efforts.
With 40km remaining a group of 7 riders hold a gap of one minute. House is once more leading the pack as we try to shut down this move before it becomes too threatening
2 more laps remained as we put together a 4 man train for Clancy . His final leadout would once again be McCallum, who sat behind Hammond and Lloyd . Node4 weren't keen on a sprint and had tried a series of late attacks, most recently all rounder Davis
He led for a full lap, but as Davis hears the bell he must know that it's all but over for him. We're still in good control, Hammond putting in a Gargantuan effort on the front for an entire lap!
Clancy completes his domination off the back of a perfect sprint train. McCallum has been able to provide the final speed Dan lacked as the last man in the train, and he put it to great use here as we claim our second win of the race!

Well if we were happy after New Zealand, we're absolutely ecstatic now! 2 stage wins, 2 Jerseys and the team looked to be perfectly gelled here. In many ways it's a shame that we've got a break for almost 3weeks now, as it seems a waste to let such incredible form go to waste.
Never the less, we have our season plan and part of that is to have limited race days in my first season as DS.
Interview with James McCallum
CN: James, the teams had an incredible time here, you must be buzzing!
J M : Yeah it's been a good few days! I'm glad to have grabbed some strong placings in the sprints myself, but we set this up around Ed and you can only say he delivered!
CN: You can indeed, we saw real control from the team here in this short critérium, a sign of things to come in the Halfords Tour perhaps?
J M : I don't want to give too much away about our teams for the HT, but certainly we'll hope for very good results there, the Boss is aiming Top3 and given our showing today, i'd say we can do that!
CN: Well good luck to you, enjoy a few days off now

Well we had another quiet month, barring a day or two partying following our tremendous success in the states! We take 2 stage wins, a Points Jersey, and the General Classification, meaning that after just 8 days in the saddle this year we can already tick off a season goal!
Team Goals Race Objective Achieved American Races 2 Wins(Stage or Classification) Yes!
There are no WT races on the calendar in February so no real news there, though we can take you through the rankings after the first 2 months of the racing season.
Only one race so far in the WT, so understandably the winner also leads the World Tour. Kolobnev stole the leaders jersey on the Wilunga hill stage, beating Woet Poels who finds himself 2nd in the rankings.
Winning the Overall race was just enough to put Katusha atop the rankings ahead of Vacansoleil, who took second along with with 2 stage victories.
The perfect start for the team has seen Ed Clancy propel himself to seventh in the rankings off the back of two fantastic performances for the team. Whilst we'll slide down as the season progresses it's brilliant to spend even a few days amongst the leaders of the PCT teams!
Victory in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne and 2nd at the Volto ao Algarve is enough to put Cofidis rider Jan Ghyselinck to the top of the rankings, just ahead of veteran Nicko Eckhout.
It's all about the french in the CT rankings, with Europcar 2nd and Cofidis 2nd. We're currently the second best placed of the UK teams, trailing Node4 by 28points.
Tom Boonen is showing excellent form ahead of his big goals for the season, already with 5 victories including the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Clancy's name figures once again near the sharp end of the rankings, with 3 victories thanks to his efforts in the USofA.
"Condor Flying High" Rider of the Month
Well he's done it again. Ed Clancy really has no opposition for the £2500 cash prize for a second consecutive month, on the back of an incredible performance in the teams only race of the month.
A much busier month here with 10days racing all over the world! Clancy finds himself with a busy schedule here, riding 3 out of 4 races we'll ride, and 2 as absolute leader!
We send a squad behind Ed Clancy for our opening race in March. We're hoping he can get a good result in this flat semi-classic, with support from Roger Hammond, Felix English, Luke Grivell-Mellor, Dan Lloyd, Michael Cuming, Hugh Carthy and Aaron Buggle.
Despite the race containing cobbles and hills, we're hoping that Ed Clancy can traverse the difficulties which come a moderate distance from the end. Roger Hammond travels as a second option and we're looking for a top5 result. The complete team is: Clancy, Hammond, House, Lloyd, Grivell-Mellor, Handley, Laverack and Porter.
A 4 day race where we're looking to make an attempt on the points jersey through days 1 and 4. We have little interest in the hillier middle stages, perhaps good opportunities for us to give younger guys opportunities in the breaks.
Ed's final race until Mid-April following a busy start to the year, he has strong sprinting support for James McCallum, along with Felix English, Michael Cuming, Aaron Buggle, William Stephenson, Hugh Carthy and Edward Laverack.
We like to think we've got a nicely rounded squad for our only Portugese race this year. Kristian House and James McCallum headline giving us power in both the climbs and sprints, whilst they will receive powerful support on all terrain from Dan Lloyd, Roger Hammond, Richard Handley, Elliot Porter, Luke Grivell-Mellor and Michael Cuming

Clancy was way dominant in the States. Let's hope that the month of March is that good.
