Doesn't bode well, when Fothen already positions himself this poor. No chance in the spring that suited my team Best is also a problem. Could potentiale be a disaster race.
Congrats SN. What a start.

The preview was amazing! That's all I can say. Going to keep an eye out on this race.

Vesuvio continue their mid season surge - by the way my Italian geography is terrible what is the closest Vesuvio get to riding in the shadow of the mountain of the same name. We start on the East - do we get to the west coast?
The closest we'll get to it is roughly 100 km away when reaching the race's southernmost point in Alfadena during stage 9. No stages south of Abruzzo in this year's race, unfortunately.
The west coast will be visited, though. Stage 6 and 7 runs along the sea.
As for the opening stage, that was pretty awesome for Vesuvio. Hard to find anything wrong with that leadout! Hoping for one of my riders to catch the break tomorrow, when there are KoM points available.

Did I just see a report with flags for every single rider in the GC? That must have taken ages! But really awesome. Fantastic report SN! |

I have 3 main points to make about the first stage:
1. What a fantastic report!
2. Richard Ochoa Quintero is the real winner for a lot of people here!
3. If a strong wind will be present all Giro long on these flat stages, this will be a really long race for my leader..

Guess what? I did too. Quite disappointing therefore.
How a 73/72 flat combo can leave a 78/75 one such far behind...earlier races suggested the immense amount of luck we had last season strikes back in an unpleasant way, and we really have to up the ante in the next stages to not fulfill that prediction.
Caethoven denying the additional bonus seconds hits us hard as well, as even a win might not help us tomorrow.

Just like I'm wondering how Luke Rowe with 78ish flat can be ridden off the back of a sprint train with such ease. It was looking so promising. |

Great reporting made for a captivating stage. What a sprint from Caethoven, still a fan of him since helping my promotion way back when.
Very encouraging to see Phinney involved, bodes well for his chances of avoiding any splits.

Great report on the 1st stage
9th for Ciolek seems ok even though I think PCM could be made better in that sprint department
Spoiler Instead of 3 teams really interested in making a sprint train and working at the last 12kms there should be like in real life several attempts from especially other "weaker sprint teams" that try to position their train at front like Lampre or so does often and get overtaken by Quickstep or Garmin or who ever^^

Agreed on that Rin. It doesnt always make sense for the 3 best sprinters to be the ones whose teams make the leadout trains. At least Puma, Vesuvio and Pokerstars here do all have a strong leadout options - but there shouldnt really be a reason why a team like yours can't try to compete. It should be possible for a slightly weaker sprinter, who has a strong team, to try and get into a strong position himself - rather than go for the lottery of trying to follow a faster sprinter.

It would be nice to see a 1t4i rider going in the right breakaway and maybe take the KoM jersey in the first week.
Velits is doing a great job staying out of trouble so far

Great to see Spilak still be up there in the sprint. As shown on this stage, it's really important. Feel sorry for the managers for the GC riders who lost time though, that is quite an AI lottery.
Congratulations to Puma - SAP and cio. It looks to be a really interesting fight between Bennati and Swift for the wins on flat stages, and both riders and teams could pick up big points through the race.
And thanks for another great report, SN. I found it enjoying, eventhough it was "just another flat stage". Definitely looking forward for what's to come. Nice to have two reports the same day as well. Is it a goal to catch up with the real Giro d'Italia?

Scumbag tactics right there from my team, but in the end, i come out good. Must be annoying for the riders who lost time there though. I hope this is one of the last times it happens, and that not every flat stage will be a thriller to see if GC riders lose time or not.

Retarded gameplay. You have to have a top 3 sprinter to Secure your GC leader, what a poor game design.

another disappointing performance of Eric Mohs, I really hope he´ll improve soon. Too bad some favourites lost time today.
