White jersey
****
Tejay Van Garderen
Tejay is the top favorite for the white jersey in the edition of 2013. He already proved to be a good climber and time trialist. This already brought him the white jersey in the tour of last year. This year, he will also aim on the Giro.
***
Andrew Talansky, Nairo Quintana
Andrew had his big breakthrough in the Vuelta of last year. He finished in a very good top10, with practically only mountains. He is also known for his good tt, which will surely help him to get a result that's good. He might have to work for Hesjedal however.
Nairo Quintana was always seen as a very big talent. He also experienced his breakthrough in the Vuelta of last year, not with a good GC, but with his strenght for a GT and extremely good climbing. With a decent TT, he might very well finish with the white jersey in Brescia.
**
Carlos Betancur, Wilco Kelderman, Diego Ulissi
Carlos Betancur has so far been very strong in the Giro. In 2011, when he was very unexperienced, he almost won a stage, but was beaten by Kiriyenka. Last year he did win, and for this year, he aims on stages and a good GC. His tt might be a problem.
Wilco Kelderman became a pro cyclist last year. Immediately in his first race, the Tour Down Under, he became 21st. Later on, he won the white jersey of both the Tour of California and the Dauphiné, where he was also 8th in the GC. This is his first GT ever.
Diego Ulissi is an Italian rider who has grown a lot in the past few years. In 2011, he drove his first GT and Giro ever, and he immediately won a stage by beating Visconti. After a rather disappointing 2012 he feels ready to go for white this edition.
*
Ion Izagirre, Tony Gallopin, Esteban Chaves, Luke Durbridge
Ion Izagirre of Euskaltel doesn't ride his first GT ever here. Last year, he also participated, with success. He won a very difficult stage and arrived at the finish line on his own. Being a very good climber and decent at the time trials, he will be a dangerous outsider.
Tony Gallopin is a very good example of what we can call all-round. When driving for Cofidis, he drove top-10 in mass sprints of the tour. Last year he showed he could handle the shorter mountains and his team is confident he can also handle the Alpine mountains.
Esteban Chaves is a very typical Colombian rider. He is small, a good climber, and not very good at the time trials. With almost 100kms of time trial in the Giro this year, this might give him trouble. He is confident he can regain this time in the mountains however.
Luke Durbridge is not a very good climber. He realizes, yet he is going for the white jersey here. He can do this, because of the many kilometers that have to be driven solo. Luke is a real specialist in the time trial and could gain a lot on his rivals there.
Tejay van Garderen 1.95
Andrew Talansky 2.50
Nairo Quintana 2.85
Carlos Betancur 3.70
Wilco Kelderman 4.25
Diego Ulissi 4.80
Ion Izagirre 5.30
Tony Gallopin 6.05
Esteban Chaves 9.75
Luke Durbridge 12.50
Another rider 10.00

Stage 1
The Giro starts with a flat stage this year. Unfortunately, PCM has a version that's a bit hillier, yet still called flat. The finish follows after a downhill, making it interesting for those who can both sprint and survive a small hill. A break will probably be in front, but whether they can make it is unsure.
**** Matthew Goss
***John Degenkolb, Mark Cavendish
**Philippe Gilbert, André Greipel, Filippo Pozzato
*Elia Viviani, Nacer Bouhanni, Alexander Kristoff, Tyler Farrar
Matthew Goss 1.85
John Degenkolb 2.20
Mark Cavendish 2.45
Philippe Gilbert 3.10
André Greipel 3.65
Filippo Pozzato 4.10
Elia Viviani 4.75
Nacer Bouhanni 5.75
Alexander Kristoff 8.00
Tyler Farrar 10.00
Another rider 3.00

The perfect opening stage for John, we're definitely trying to get in Pink today with Degenkolb supported by strong hills/sprint leadouts Geschke and De Kort.
Good luck everyone on the road and with the bets!

Napoli-Napoli
Hello, welcome to stage 1 of this edition of the Giro. The stage is called flat, but we go over a circuit with a quite difficult hill in it.
We join you with 70kms left, at the foot of Monte Possilipo. We have had a break of 4 riders for all day now. Our 4 leaders are Bongiorno for Bardiani, Pantano for Colombia, Bandiera for IAM and Le Bon for FDJ. At sprint 1, Bandiera grabbed victory ahead of Pantano and Le Bon.
The pack has given the group a lead of 5min27. The riders of Omega Pharma, Lotto, GreenEdge, Saxo and Garmin are now working on the reeling in of this group.
Not much drama until the ascent of the Possilipo, where we now have a mountain sprint for the first points. Le Bon takes it ahead of Bandiera.
At the second intermediate sprint, Bandiera takes the points ahead of Pantano and Bongiorno.
At the second to last ascent of Possilipo and the last with points, Bandiera beats Pantano and Bongiorno.
When entering the last lap, the lead is just 56 seconds left.
Just before the last climb of Possilipo, the last rider of the break, Bandiera, is reeled in.
With 5kms left, Cav has trouble in the pack.
2kms left: Matthews leads out Goss. A mass sprint finish is coming up.
The mass sprint is won by:
John Degenkolb! He beats the others with a significant gap. Bennati is the first loser, Modolo completes todays podium.

Meh, Guardini doing nothing in the pack... Couldn't get over the hills, I suppose.
Also, lost my bet...
Btw, you do make the betting odds before racing the stage, no?

form? You really mean form as in PCM(so Random form activated?), or just the last results he got in the 'virtual Giro'?
But okay, so you don't make them after the stage? Then it's fine, otherwise it would be easy to guess who wins the next stage
