WTF?
I guess we all agree that littering is bad. But if somebody wants to host a cycling race, then they have to pay somebody to collect the litter after.

Pretty sure a similar thing happened a few others with Chris Froome and a couple others supposedly facing charges from a Belgian environmentalist group, again after Fleche Wallone. Not sure if anything actually happened with that though?

If they are banned then its time to give up on cycling and find a new sport frankly...
Also why does LBL have to be on Sunday, i've already got too much sport to watch

Everybody knows he is not supposed to throw the litter there, so only stupid rider can do it and he should face the consequences. (although they are quite stupid too).

It was nice to see Gilbert give back his waste to the team's car! I wish more riders would follow this example. |

Its a nice thing what he did, but the people arranging this race should have a staff that cleans up everything after the race |

I seem to remember an Amstel Gold Race where all riders had to turn in their bottles at the team car, to avoid a livestock disease from spreading.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

You're right.
If that's too hard, they could have "waste-zones". Not allowed to throw away stuff outside these zones, then they'd only have to clean the zones. |

I don't know why the organization should waste any money in something that's as simple as riders not throwing their waste...

Theoretically you are right, but there are about 200 riders and 20000 or more spectators, who do you think will leave more litter? |

If spectators are leaving litter, they should be fined as well, obviously.

There are zones where the riders are allowed to leave their litter.
Anyway, according to VeloNation, ASO denies that any riders will be prohibited from starting.

Yeah a small fine seems reasonable to me and will get the message across.

Imagine that, all the favourites banned from the race because of leaving litter. =D
Maybe Andy Schleck does have a chance... |

The thing is the big favorites arent in shape, too old or too lazy to put their teams to work to catch the attacks. What should outsiders do? Wait the whole race behind Gilbert and let him win??? That would make a 250 km Race too boring. Then they should only make a poll to know who should win and give him the win and there is no need to race. |

I've always pictured a local gendarme writing tickets like a madman because 200 cyclists are stopping at his beloved town square for some public urination. |

Well in fact Gilbert was one of the riders throwing bottles during Flèche Wallonne and was interrogated today by the Belgian police, so I would advise not to follow this example |
