Enjoyed the report, was a shame we got a paralysis on the Poggio climb but there we go, it does sort of go against man game history a bit. That said it is nice in my opinion that a sprinter has a chance in a monument.
Last year I felt it was probably down to narrow roads that Ulissi won - not that it was something that really a problem in a way it was a nice victory for the young Italian.
I've noticed that you get a fair few high flat guys attacking on 'flat' rated stages - I don't think it is that weird to see Ignatiev, Cancellara, Burghardt etc attacking it looked like Gilbert and Ponzi were about too also. I am pretty confident that come the hilly classics we will get the 'right' sort of results.
From an SRB point of view, I will certainly take two guys in the top 20, Van Stayen I suppose may feel he could have been closer but it was a packed deck at the front.
As I said I enjoyed this report as with the ones you wrote last year it was a nice mix of candour and humour.
I thought there was a lack of screens between the kite and the finish line for my taste and this was certainly not 'the best written report I've seen in a long long time' - I found that comment highly disrespectful to the work other reporters have put in and unnecessary hyperbole. It was a strong report amongst a fantastic collection other great reports we have had recently - Alakagom, Pellizotti, tsmoha, CountArach, mb, myself, SN and kumazan have been doing a great job and the comment implied they had not.

Well, the AI as expected, it was clearly the year for the sprinters here. Fantastic report Crommy, although I guess people at Heineken will be quite mad that you confused their sponsorship with one of their biggest rivals.
Congrats beagle.
The folks at Heineken noticed, but it's been sorted out. Reports that a bomb was packed into a fruit cake from a Slovak bakery are unfounded rumors.

Not really surprised by the outcome. Attacks from the big puncheurs were never to be expected imo, as the AI isn't really that clever.
Nevertheless really enjoyed the report, just like the ones you did last year, Crommy. Also, congrats to beagle for the big win. Definitely a well spent million if his season continues like this.

THANK YOU FOR THE NICE CAKE. Which never existed. Like the mistake

Well, that was not a brilliant result. It looked good for Ballan when he attacked, but then it pretty rapidly fell to pieces.

When the race played out that way, I really couldn't have asked for more. 4th and 12th was way above my expectations in a big sprint, well done to Boasson Hagen for positioning himself nicely.
And nice report too, Crommy! |

Haha snap.
But yeah a disappointing race but I guess it is nice that the sprinters got a shot at winning a monument for once.

Cool report Crommy, i enjoyed that one. I expected this trio to battle it out for the win, so no surprise, just the majority of all riders hanging on is funny and unrealistic.
Who invested in great sprinter this year, will have a great time (i am looking at you Beagle, great job from Boonen this year, congrats).

Move along, nothing to see here.
Great report Crommy! Too bad the race couldn't keep up with it.

Thanks for pointing this out Smowz. I now realize that my choice of words was completely wrong and that this may have been offensive to read for the other reporters around. I therefore ask forgiveness to everyone who is taking part in the man-game world of reporting.
I myself, enjoys every report that is published in here and I have great respect for everybody who is involved in this game to make it go around, you lay more hours into this than I can imagine. So the comment was in no way meant offensive to some of you others, it was just a silly way to say that I enjoyed this specific report bias, spiced with humor, but I pointed it out in a wrong manner, and a very disturbing sentence and I'm sorry for that.
