Another brilliant report, I really enjoy them, Smowz
A bit disappointing to see Boasson Hagen not able to challenge the very best puncheurs though. Hopefully he'll prove on the stage to Chieti that he has what it takes to mix it with the very best.
Congratulations to SN! Schleck definitely looks like he'll have another great season. |

Another stage, another second place. Promising signs from Ponzi with his new found super-sprint ability, worrying signs from Schleck - another dominant year coming up? |

Nothing's really gone well so far this season and it seems like this won't be the turning point either. |

Great stage for Delage, dominant breakaway rider today giving us lots of TV coverage and some ranking points.

That's more like it! Wins are going to be harder to come by for Schleck this year, so its all the more satisfying when he does manage to win - especially with such a comfortable one!
And kinda relieved that Sagan is now much more unlikely to win a race he has no right to be winning! (Sorry Sykkel )

Congratulations to Venchi, but please don't win the race
Well, you got your wish.
Even though we loose the leaders jersey, the team did a great job. Both Sagan and Di Maggio is well up there. Looks like we can get some very important points out of this race.

It's well done by Boasson Hagen, being fifth without really showing himself. Though, it's obviously very, very close. Hopefully he can have his best day on the next stage, eventhough it looks like a stage that might favour Schleck and Cunego.
And congrats to beagle, Boonen is proving himself. Bennati on the other hand, was really disappointing on that stage. |

I want to go back to PCT

Nah seriously, was he blocked?
The gap got too big too fast even for a -5 day, which I suspect as the reason. Or his stats are not consistent with the DB. Or the game just doesn't like me this season.

I dunno cio - last year Bennati was so superior to most of the other sprinters even when he had a bad day he still won. I recall he had some close sprints against the likes of Davis, Cav etc.
Here though it was a combination of the wind (meaning all the riders closely packed against each other) so he was blocked by Gasparotto, Pokerstars and Van Heerden.
Bewley, Boonen and Pozzato are very strong all round riders (all the hilly guys who can sprint were coming like a train at the end too). I'm guessing Bennati's recovery is on very good or something.
I still was like WTF is he doing finishing 12th? way behind Van Heerden for example.

Bennati feeling the pressure of expectation it seems - and slow to react to the change in competition level from what he raced against and dominated last season.

After disappointing stages 2&3 with no Pokerstars rider in break, this is huge satisfaction and Tom´s another win makes me really happy
AI in hilly stages sucks.

Hopefully pozzato can make a top 10. I was kind of hoping he'd try something, really anything, on the hilly stages, like keep up with the front, or maybe 2nd front

Ulissi not in the front chasegroup is pretty bad. He is positioning himself horrible in this race. I can only hope for him to attack at some point. It's quite boring when the captains doesn't try atleast.
Oh well, Tamouridis seems like a good domestique this season.

Nice try by Bewley to beat Boonen here, great work from Rabon as well and he deservedly gained some points for his 8th place in this stage. This is good Tirreno for me.

Some well needed points if Ponzi is going to challenge for the points classification. Pity he didn't take 3rd on the stage though, would have been nice to be that bit closer to Schleck, and a little further from "the little prince/dominator of the man game", Cunego. |

Albasini is trying to prove that he's not too old
Really enjoying his aggressive riding.

Unfortunately it wasnt possible to fix the narrow roads on this Tirreno stage, but at least they only came at the finish.
A great supporting effort from the squad, with Paterski doing brilliantly to last right up to the final kilometre, and a good result for Schleck to only lose out to Bakelandts and Cunego on bonus seconds.
Plus, very good to see a hilly stage turn out as it should!

Diego Ulissi is hopelessly passive. Can't use his lowend top 10s for anything. I would rather have him trying to get a result and fail than getting 3 stage top 10s and 11th GC. That is just a waste of racedays.

I'd be happy to take him off your hands for next year to spare you of more races like this.
Good to see some proper gaps at last. Schleck doesn't seem ready to leave the puncheur throne just yet. Seeing Bakelants and Cunego up there with him is no surprise, but I also expected Hagen to join them. A bit of a disappointment in this race, imo.

That´s exactly what I want to see from Wallays. Aggresive ride with a lot of TV coverage. Great report as always.
