Last stage with just 90 km of flat roads shouldn't give us anything but a final sprint.



With 17 km to go Jartazi and CSC are positioned in front of the peloton and the escapees are on sight.



Last 3 km! Two trains side by side, Perutnina and CSC, with Jartazi men right behind...



...as we enter the last km it seems that it's going to be between CSC and Perutnina...



...but Bossoni makes a great last 100 m and gets the win! Breschel took too much time to open to O'Grady and when he did it, O'Grady was stuck and couldn't do better than 2nd place!

On the first stage we'll have two 3rd category climbs, but the end is not inclined. With Bettini here, he is definitively the main favorite. Cunego, Vinokourov and Valverde are the other big names. For CSC maybe Voigt has something to say.



At the top of the second 3rd category climb some guys are trying to get away and join the 3 men BOD which has 2'13 on the peloton. 40 km to go.



And the peloton has brook and Valverde is on the second part of it! His team mates are giving everything to bring him back. There are also 4 men that left the peloton on the opposite side. Riccó, Ballan, Landaluze and Anza are chasing the 3 race leaders.



With 20 km to go Valverde's team mates managed to bring him back to the peloton. At front the 7 men are now together and on sight of the peloton.



With 10 km to go CSC team is increasing the pace and all the escapees are caught.



With 3 km to go CSC is bringing Voigt to the front at an incredible pace. Cunego, Valverde and Bettini are studying each other...



...last km and Bettini reaches the front! Fédrigo, Paulinho, Cunego and Voigt are also there...



...Bettini takes it! Voigt is second, while Arvesen is fifth!

On Stage 2 we'll have again two 3rd Category climbs with a more flat last third of he race with the same yesterday's favorites.



Under some rain the 5 men BOD are crossing the first 3rd Category climb. With some dangerous men here CSC and Quickstep are chasing and with 70 km to go the break has under 3 minutes on the 87 men peloton.



And after a great work from CSC, Voigt attacks on the last km of the 2nd 3rd Category climb!



And with 22 km to go Voigt gets the 5 men BOD. They have 1'07 to the peloton who is flying to them.



The break is caught and with 15 km to go immediatly Anza and C. Moller attack again!



With 3 km to go Cancellara's high pace is almost getting Moller, but Anza is still far...



...1200 meters to go and Moller is caught, Bettini goes for the sprint. Does CSC have someone that can follow him?



...Arvesen! He comes from behind and passes Bettini going for 2nd place, while Anza gets a great win!

And today we have the Alto do Malhão, the stage that can dictate Volta ao Algarve fate. With the final time trial still to come CSC will try to bring Voigt with the first men.



With 36 km to go the peloton is reduced to 96 men while the BOD has a 3 minute advantage.



With 23 km to go and the last 3rd Category climb ahead 4 guys try to leave the peloton, all of them dangerous to the GC: Landaluz, C. Moller, D. Blanco, and a young man from Liquigas...Vincenzo is his first name!



And the attacks keep going...now Valverde tries to break at 13 km to go.



Now it's Pellizotti and... Vinokourov who try to leave. Vino is really dangerous as he's a great time trialist.



With just 2 km left Cunego leads the race with Fédrigo, Valverde and Voigt on his tail. Bettini is a bit back but recovering. Vino was left behind and he's in the peloton.



Valverde launches the final sprint with 5 men also on the run, including Voigt and the yellow jersey...



Valverde takes the win, with Bettini being second and Voigt fourth. Valverde and Bettini got 17 seconds to opposition on GC.

Today we have the most flat stage of this Volta ao Algarve, so it should be a day for sprinters. With Lombardi on the squad the team will try to place him well. Arvesen is also a strong finisher so CSC has multiple choices.



With 35 km to go the BOD is almost caught with the work being made by Quick Step. Bettini will for sure sprint today.



7 km to go and there are 2 trains well formed with Bettini and some other sprinters trying to get a good wheel.



The sprint is launched with Fédrigo coming very fast from the left while Ventoso sprinting after a great team work from Saunier Duval - Prodir...



...Cunego shows up with an incredible speed...



...amazing win by Cunego beating De Koort and C. Barbosa. Arvesen was 4th and Lombardi 6th.
