We are really getting our climbing squad strengthened these rounds. This time we have managed to sign a 3 year contract with the one and only Mikel Nieve, the great spanish climber.
This round we were focusing on getting another decent sprinter and while we could not get Rojas or Haussler, whom we really wanted, we managed to add a great italian sprinter: Daniele Bennati!
We had some Christmas music playing in the office, since it's the last workday before the holiday. Well, Jockey and Gizzmo did not really understand it
We are continuing to strengthen our sprinting squad, this time we managed to draft an australian rider, so Austar won't be dissapointed anymore.
We welcome our first australian rider: Chris Sutton
This draft round was quite a success for us, since we managed to get the rider we wanted: a young british sprinter to please our sponsors and ground our future.
We can clearly see that our squad has a high priority on stage races, mostly on the three Grand Tours. We are pleased with having four riders capable of leading a GT squad in the mountains, so this can mean two things: Either we can have a Grand Tour where our leader has a super-super domestique, or we can have a really strong climber spending all his race days is one-week races and classics. It's a problem we are pleased to face.
On the sprinter side, we also have some strong riders, but we are mostly focused around Degenkolb and Bennati, but our sponsors are obviously happy to have Sutton and Blythe. The two main leaders will probably be capable of winning GT stages and Degenkolb will try to shine in the classics where a sprint finish is expected. Our sprint squad is not the strongest, but we are a big threat when the finish is not exactly flat.
Now we come to a side we are looking to strenghten a bit after the Christmas break: The cobbled classics. We have one leader: Karl, but that's about it. He can enjoy the support of Degenkolb in some of his races (or help him if he manages to get to the mass sprint finish in the main bunch), but he really needs some more valuable domestique riders for the Flanders season. Our next round pick will most likely be focused around this, the management already have their eyes on two key targets.
That is about it, any response from the fans is always appreciated.
The management and the entire team wishes a very happy Christmas to all the fans. Expect the next update and the continuation of the drafting period after the Christmas break.
