No not really. Don't know who you heard it from but it's a lie. Sometimes it's done, but that's buying the win and it's not allowed. |

No, he means something else. If two riders help each other to keep away from the chasing pack, the winner pays a % of the price money as a "thank you".
That does not mean that one of them gives away the win, but some riders just have no chance to win a sprint. |

How does that make Uran a winner in any way? How is the one who pays more cheater than the one who is paid?
I don't see anyone claiming this makes Uran a winner... Do you?
So yes, they are both wrong; I think everyone agrees with that.

This does indeed happen and I don't think it's a bad thing. It increases the chance of attackers because they can work together better.

I think I also claimed (or at least suggested) it in regards to drugs. Having seen that footage though..... who was third?
Although to be fair, I imagine Vino is the kind of guy you really dont want to refuse a shit load of money from. Turn up in a canal somewhere 3 weeks later XD |

Do Vino and Uran share any languages? Vino's French is strong but his English is shit iirc. Not sure about Uran but I suspect he mostly knows Spanish and English based on his team history. It doesn't prove anything but if they don't share languages then it does make a last minute exchange difficult to organise.
Personally I think it looks suspicious but it should be remembered that Uran is still quite young and much less experienced than Vino. Add in the high pressure and stupid stuff can happen. If it were anyone but Vino this question wouldn't really be raised, but with Vino you never know.

However i respect your doubts, i dont think this was the case. Uran just f*cked it up in the sport way imo. But as already said, if someone could and want to do that ultra-cheat, it is Vino.

Actually, I think Uran just speaks Spanish, and very, very basic English.

When you really want to have something understood, you always manage too.
"How much money do you want to let me the win ?" must be within range of Vino's English and Uran's ability to understand English.
Try the same in French, or in Spanish, or invert a few words from those languages, that'll butcher grammar, but make enough sense for both of them.
Language is not really a problem or an argument in this case, IMO. |

When both are non-native speakers who can express only basic things in that language, then I think it does have to factor in. If, as you plausibly suggest, it is within the bounds of Vino's English, it must also be within the bounds of Uran's language and they must also have time to undertake a conversation. This is less of an issue where one of the two speaks the language strongly.
Further, Uran in particular must have time to wrestle with his morality and weigh up how much an Olympic gold is worth to him. Their attacks occurred simultaneously on opposite sides of the peloton, so we can probably preclude collusion before this as they would have probably attacked together on the same side, which is far more efficient. So for it to be true the following things must happen:
1. Both riders attack
2. They get enough of a gap to realise that they have it won
3. There is enough time, after realising this, for Vino to make himself understood to Uran in a language which neither of them is strong in.
4. Uran has to decide how much he wants and then make himself understood to Vino.
Now looking at this video:
https://www.youtub...sHCLXvYRW0
From about 0:14 to 0:20 they talk. That implies about 6 seconds for numbers 2-4 to occur, with only 1km left in a race that could make Uran's reputation and basically guarantee him a high-paying career for the next 4 years at least. Now, admittedly the cameras were not on them the entire way through the ending so there may have been more talking but it is still a stretch to imagine all of the above given the circumstances.
Anyway, like I said I wouldn't be surprised, I just don't think that this is likely.

There is nothing as entertaining as conspiracy theories, especially if somebody tries to proof or disproof them. (This is not a reply to any post)

Well, I it's hard to know by the footage. Yes, Uran goes to the front and keeps riding, but he does react to Vino's attack, doesn't he? |

This has not been probably mentioned yet, company SKINS launch lawsuit against UCI, because of them hiding doping.

This link convinces me that Uran wasn't bought, even if Vino tried to pay. Uran would have been the second gold medallist in any sport in the history of Columbia. Vino doesn't have pockets that deep. |
