[CT] Japanese - Korean Cycling Project: The Road to Europe
valverde321
Who do you want in your team? Its totally up to you, if thats what your asking.

Just be sure to keep the good Japanese free agents on the down low, so either you or I can hopefully get them pretty cheap Pfft

I was hoping that you would throw up some names, just in case I've missed a few people...

While tempting, I'm not going to be able to outbid him on too much. We will undoubtedly cross paths though.

I think you should stick to mainly Japanese and Korean cyclists, and definately stay away from the malaysians Wink

I'm not going to give names, as thats basically giving away my targets. Same goes for everyone else, I would guess. (Even more so, that we are both targeting Japanese and Korean riders)

I think fun in the game is researching the DB and finding gems that not many other people will know about, so your best bet is to just look through the db, make a shortlist of some riders you want to sign, and maybe a max you'd be willing to bid on them, and then keep them quietly to yourself. Wink

The db is really quite easy to use. The amount of research you do, really does pay off.

Gathered that. I was joking, and probably should have put a Pfft there to make it more clear. I keep forgetting that people here can't read everything I post in my voice... Pfft

Obviously you will be fighting for the best talents. That can't be avoided, and shouldn't either. But perhaps you could come to some common sense on how to distribute the "fillups", so you get aprox the same AVR riders at 50K wages, instead of pissing away money on riders not worth the cost. It would be plain stupid to have 10-12 riders each at a wage of 70-80K wages, while they are not interesting to any other teams at all, just because you want the same 72TT rider or 75Sprinter or so.

I don't know if it's allowed, but I would try to make some common ground to build a base upon, and then obviously fight the likes of Shimizu, Hatanaka, Kinoshita and the likes of those riders. They shouldn't go for peanuts obviously, but I rather think they won't anyway, as some people in the game would fancy a rider like Kinoshita undependant of his nationality.

Agreed. Half of my shortlist is from countries that aren't JPN or KOR. I still need to build up a team at the end of the day, and I'd like it to be competitive (wouldn't we all?). Looking at Valv's team last year, a few of his "star" riders were not from JPN or even from Asia, and I think that we are both going to have to do the same, at least for a year or so.

In a sudden turn of events, the team headquarters has moved to Korea. With an increase in Korean sponsors, and a sudden decrease in funding from the Japanese government and sporting organization, it was the obvious choice. DaBobScotts said that this would not impact significantly on riders targeted from Japan; there still is a focus (albeit smaller) still on Japan. However, with a large amount of other teams focusing on the next giant in world cycling, he’s not concerned about them picking up the slack.

“It’s good that there is a larger focus on Japan from a wide range of teams. Even teams with no focus on Japan are turning to it for riders; and indeed Asia in general. Hopefully, this will encourage more people to start competitively cycling in the region. Even just seeing some fellow countrymen ride has got to spark an interest. We are definitely seeing a distinct shift away from the more traditional track cycling into road and even mountain biking; the sport is diversifying. Even in Korea, where track cycling has also been relatively popular compared to other disciplines, we are seeing this trend. It’s good to see.”

With the primary focus of JK Cycling shifting to Korea, DaBobScotts said nothing else is changing.
“The name and kit are set in stone now, and we wouldn’t change it even if we could. We are already starting to get a large fan base, and are looking forward to the transfer season.”

Nothing this team has done so far has been set in concrete, with changes happening throughout the team. Everything for jerseys to sponsors; it sure must be a pain for those organizing the season ahead. DaBobScott apologizes for any inconvenience.

Seems like this works for everyone. You get to feast on the Korean riders which I'm not going after too hard, and I get less competition for my Japanese riders.

valverde321
What will it take to get you to drop the Japanese riders completely? Pfft

What made you change your mind though? Was Teddy's announcement what made you think that there probably wont be enough decent Japanese riders for the 3 (and counting) teams here? There are definitely still youth to invest in if you dont get any of the top guys still though.

Good luck with the new focus.

DaBobScotts
Thanks. Yeah, youth was always going to be my main focus, although I think now I am going to be a little bit more picky with who I chase. There are still a couple of Japanese riders that I'm after, and will pull out all the stops to get... I better choose some hard goals I guess Grin

And three teams is a lot for a small rider country like Japan. It's good that we all over other countries though!

And don't expect to be let of lightly in the transfer season... I still have a few names from all over the world, including Japan, as high priority targets...

And I'm starting to worry that I'm prioritizing results too much over rider focus... Most of my shortlist are "outsiders" Pfft

Sorry Sammy! I didn't realize that you posted this! Hahahaha
We'll see... There are a few riders in greater Asia and indeed the world that have caught my attention, and I can't recall off the top of my head if there are any Malaysians there or not.... Grin

I hope they're not the same malaysians i'm targetting as there's a couple that we'll pull out all the stops to try and sign.

Hopefully there won't be too much competition for them as i think we are the only team in south east asia apart from the aussies which i count as oceania anyway.

DaBobScotts
Fair enough. We'll see... Pfft

JK Cycling has their eyes on a few C1 races. With the calender just announced, there is a lot of excitement at the moment! Undoubtedly, there will be lots of competition for JK Cycling to overcome to get to race the Tour of Japan!

DaBobScotts
With the transfer season looming ever closer, it is only a matter of time before we see JK Cycling signing its first rider! Not to mention, setting of season goals and the upcoming calender. The team is very excited at the moment, and management is looking forward to the future!

DaBobScotts
The team manager of JK Cycling, DaBobScotts, once again faced the media today. While the conference was kept short, it did bring out some important information. The goals for the next season were the highlight of the conference, with there being no surprises in what has been highlighted on the team's calender. The goals are as follows:

Win GP Tokyo
Top 10 Asia Tour Team Standings
Top 10 Tour of Japan (Overall)
Top 5 Tour de Korea
Stage Win(s) Tour of Taiwan

There is going to be a long year ahead for the team, with the entire focus being on the Asia region.

DaBobScotts had this to say:
"We as a team are looking forward to the year ahead. We expect some tough competition at all the races we attend over the next season, especially in our home regions. We look forward to building a team with these races in mind.
Bring it on I say!"

Pellizotti2
We'll definitely face each other a lot this year. Japan and, above all, Taiwan, are two of my most important races on the whole calendar.

Hope we'll see a few nice battles! Smile
