Our squad for the C2-race:
Evgeny Bakhin
Dadi Suryadi
Juan Sebastian Tamayo Martinez
Hichem Chaabane
Tsgabu Gebremaryam Grmay

The entire team are made up of climbers and are concentrating on the finishing stage, unless Sohrabi who would like to take his chances on the first 4 stages if there should be mass sprintes. The Algerian Chaabane is said to be extremely happy to get the chance to ride in his home land, and he is hoping for a good GC-result, espescially in the young rider classification. |

It will be a very tough season for you. Not only in C1 races. Also in C2 races it won`t be easy.
At least it will always be nice to see you active in the breaks with mainly exotic riders. |

Thanks for the kind words. I agree we have to rely on breakaways, even in C2 races. We have a great depth in the team, but we have no leaders except Lo Cicero, so it will be interresting to see how that turns out. There are actually a lot of very good riders in CT, so we predict a hard time wherever we go really. |

Grmay says he is eager to meet up again with his former team mates from Jaguar-Eritel allready in the first stage race, and he is looking even more forward to racing the "local" Tour of Eritrea alongside his biggest idol Teklehaimanot. (I suppose he will ride there? )

PFG-Armavias debut month in the PCT is over, and have exceeded all expectations. The most pleasing have been Ivano Lo Ciceros outstanding performance in Qatar against the world elite, where he secured a podium in stage 5, as well as winning the white jersey and finishing 5th in GC! Even though the wildcard-race doesn't count towards the ranking, it was pleasing to race in the middle-east, almost at home soil and perform this well.
Ivano Lo Cicero finishing 3rd and gains impotant bonus seconds that he later used to secure the 5th place overall
But we also had some great results in the two C2-races we participated in.
Meyin Wang pulled off a surprise and took a pleasing 5th place in GP Kathmandu, while Evgeny Bakhin finished 10th in the mountanious stage of Tour d'Algerie, enough to place him inside top 10 also in the overall and finishing 1st in the youth rankings.
Evgeny Bakhin secures the white jersey in Tour d'Algerie

Tour of the Middle East
One of our few so-called "home races" where the sponsors and fans of the team will be sure to follow us closely. We will send a mixed team down to UAE with mainly climbers in the squad, as well as Matzka for the sprints and Dviri gets the chance to show his national jersey at the time trial. We don't expect to have the strongest line-up, but we hope that Bakhin could show some of his class from Tour d' Algerie where he won the overall youth standing. Indonesian Suryadi will be the key to achieve a good GC for Bakhin.
So the following 7 have been chosen to represent PFG-Armavia in The Middle East:
Evgeny Bakhin
Dadi Suryadi
Ralf Matzka
Tsgabu Gebremaryam Grmay
Ying Hon Yeung
Chun Kai Feng
Dor Dviri |

First ever win for PFG-Armavia!
Indonesian Dadi Suryadi choosed to launch an attack pretty early in stage 2 of the Middle East Tour, considered all the mountains to come. Nobody joined, and Suryadi formed a solo-breakaway.
The peloton managed to snatch minute after minute, and was extremely close the last kilometers, but in the end, his heroic effort payed off and he grabbed the victory right infront of the peloton.
It was not only PFG-Armavias first win, but also Suryadis first, which means there was a lot of reasons to celebrate in the Armavia bus after the race. However, Bjartne was quick to stop the party, as he found that Suryadi had smuggled in 2 crates of Bintang beer in the bus....
Needless to say, the beer was confiscated by the team manager, and he ordered the rest of the team to begin the preparation for stage 3, whilst he locked himself into the bus and started the "confiscating".
Stage results: | 1 | Dadi Suryadi | PFG-Armavia | 4h30'18 | 2 | Mykhaylo Kononenko | Team Privatbank | s.t. | 3 | Nariyuki Masuda | JK-Cycling | s.t. | 4 | Ricardo Mestre | Team Privatbank | s.t. | 5 | Mohamed S.A Aziz | Evian-MIAT | s.t. | ------------------ | ----------------------------- | --------------------------- | ------------ | 18 | Chun Kai Feng | PFG-Armavia | s.t. | 19 | Ying Hon Yeung | PFG-Armavia | s.t. | 52 | Ralf Matzka | PFG-Armavia | + 14'46 | 54 | Tsgabu G. Suryadi strikes again
After a silent first half of the race, the attacks were continuously when we approached the climb. Every try where however shut down quick by the peloton. Here from the Armavia-duo Feng and Yeung's try.
The last attack of the day consisted of our own Suryadi, Kenyas Chaoufi and JK's Masuda. They managed to create a little gap with just 1km to go, and in the end, Suryadi snatched the victory in front of Chaoufi and Masuda, before the peloton came in and battled for 4th.
1 | Dadi Suryadi | PFG-Armavia | 4h33'40 | 2 | Tarik Chaoufi | Kenya Airways - Barclays | s.t. | 3 | Nariyuki Masuda | JK-Cycling | s.t. | 4 | Hossein Alizadeh | Sauber Petronas Racing | s.t. | 5 | Thomas Rohregger | Magna-Ryanair | s.t. | 6 | Yasmani Martinez | Kenya Airways - Barclays | s.t. | 7 | Danilo Di Luca | JK-Cycling | s.t. | 8 | Mykhaylo Kononenko | Team Privatbank | s.t. | 9 | Andreas Landa | Evian-MIAT | s.t. | 10 | Amir Mustafa Rusli | Sauber Petronas Racing | s.t | 11 | Chun Kai Feng | PFG-Armavia | s.t. | 16 | Tsgabu Gebremaryam Grmay | PFG-Armavia | s.t. | 25 | Evgeny Bakhin | PFG-Armavia | s.t. | 28 | Ying Hon Yeung | PFG-Armavia | s.t. |
Manager Bjartne was overjoyed as he watched Suryadi raise his arms at the finish. "This is incredible!!!" he yelled. "We had two stage wins in the entire year of 2012 with Team Armavia, now we have two stage wins in february with PFG!!
Bjartne was last seen dancing down the Jebel Hafeet climb..

Ivano Lo Cicero wins Eneco Tour
After four podiums in a row, the Italian sprinter snatched the overall victory. Manager Bjartne had this to say in the press conference after the race:
Bjartne: I wanted Lo Cicero to get a stage win here and he failed that goal, so needless to say, we are disappointed by his effort
5 awkwardly silent seconds after, he laughed it away and praised his italian wonderboy after really consistent sprinting.
Bjartne: We knew in january that this was a race perfectly suited for Ivano but that he would have a hard time getting results as we don't have the leadout men for Ivano as we know f.ex Evian and Rothaus have for Napolitano and Vantomme. So I'm extremely pleased by his positioning in this race and proving me wrong by winning the race.
I still think he should have managed a stage win though, smiled Bjartne and looked over at Ivano, who also smiled, and then replied to the press:
Lo Cicero: Of course I would like to get a stage win here, as pan flat stages is what I prefer. However, I'm not in a position to be sad now. When I arrived in benelux, many of my team mates with 1/10 of my wage had more ranking points than me. Honestly, I've had a tough time, and my price tag has definitely made me more stressed with making results. Now I finally feel I could lower my shoulders and just have fun on the bike. I want to thank everybody in Armavia for their belief in me. I know we are in a really bad position right now, and I can take some of the blame, but I hope to pay them back by ensuring a place in next years PCT as well.
To get there, I will hang the three jerseys I received in Eneco Tour right above the tail end of my bed, so that every day I wake up, I will get the needed motivation and confidence in my self to continue to deliver in the big races. |

Parsian Financial Group to disband
It's gone 24 hours since the Euskaltel-Euskadi management decided to fold their team, and wednesday evening, 16:11 local time in Teheran, Parsian Financial Group decided to do the same at the end of the year, surprisingly, also in the unlikely event of staying in this divison. The persians ambitions has not at all been matched and they are also quite disappointed by the lack of regional riders.
As of now, the team only stands left with the co-sponsor Armavia, but their contract is also on an outgoing contract so it remains to be seen if they want to continue in the cycling world.

A real shame if Armavia goes as they have been one of my favourite teams for the past two years in the man-game though i'd understand if you went for a more international feel to try and gain more success. |

Thanks mate! The main thing about my team this season was that I didn't have the same feeling/connection towards the team as I had with Team Armavia (which I really enjoyed), possibly the worst team in the history of man-game, who at the same time had a tight regional base in the caucasian surroundings. So the disbandment of PFG and potentially Armavia are by no means to get more international, more the other way around. I want to do something similar like you, but with a smaller biking country than France. More like Canada, or even tinyer if possible.
This year we have been a weird mix of arabian, african, asian, european and also a couple of latino riders. I really want to change that, but on the same time keeping the backbones of the squad. So anyway, either in caucasus or another region, we will look to strengthen the team from that region or nearby areas, but it will take some seasons to fully achieve a regional or at least a continental squad. Hopefully, one day, we will be at the same level as Oz and Meiji in Asia
There have been several of new sponsors willing to take on the sponsorships, mainly asian sponsors. Armavia and the caucasus area is exciting, but really challenging. We may look further east to try to better challenge the other asian teams.

Good to hear that you will continue in regional focused cycling, i am big fan of your team since its D2 start, especially because of it. I am curious how it will go out in the end, good luck anyway!
And i am pretty sure that SN would be fine with adding some talents and riders from whatever country you choose if you ask to, or make the new focus public later.

This! I'm a huge Armavia fan, and I have been since you announced the project so it is great to see it getting even more focused. Building your way back up from the CT will probably be better for your team in the long run anyway.

Indeed just ask. Also feel free to ask me via PM, here or in the talents to add to the DB thread for any country and I will spend hours looking through PCS and Wielerland to unearth as many as you want from anywhere. Just say the word - I'm really happy to help.

Thank's to both of you! It's really flattering to hear that Armavia actually has made a different in some of the other players man-game experience.
I've seen true the database briefly of the nationalities I've decided to go for, but my excel is broken, so I have to use open office, and I can't do the same searches there. Have also searched for CQ-ranking, and it seems like the biggest stars are added, but if you have some spare time, I would really appreciate you to do some researching for me. I'll be sending you a PM straight away. You're a true gentleman CountArach and I love you too Avin |
