We've decided to take a little gamble when making these choices. Several of them have been chosen with riders we currently don't have in the squad, in mind. The three HCs plus the two "Win"s will hopefully build us a good budget at least, and that'll be very important if we want to achieve these goals.
Win | | Japan Cup | HC |
With Asian Tour being the focus, it was an obvious choice. Especially considering that the plan is to splash the cash on a certain puncheur, who should be able to compete for the victory on this sort of course.
Win | | Tour of Taiwan | C1 |
Reason for this choice is the same as above. Several uphill finishes in this week-long stage race should ensure that a puncheur will take the overall title.
Top 5 | | Giro dell'Emilia | HC |
Another hilly classic, that was a target for us already last year. Caruso's fourth place back then convinced me that a Top 5 should be achievable once again - this time hopefully with a rider more suited to the race.
Top 5 | | Tour of Vancouver | HC |
Chosen with a certain climber in mind. With two hard mountain stages, it'll be a really hard race. Shouldn't be any major problems achieving, as long as we manage to recruit a man I've had my eyes on for quite a while now.
Top 5 | | Asian Tour | Standings |
Shouldn't be a big problem, as we'll send strong squads to all the Asian races on the calendar. It'll obviously come down to how we perform, but I'm fairly confident that this goal wont be the most difficult one.

Interesting that you opted to go for winning in Taiwan rather than an equivalent goal of winning your home race.
Seems you are one of many teams relying a lot on transfers to go well. I wonder if that certain climber is one I know well...

The Taldykorgan race suits punchy sprinters rather than classics specialists according to my tests. Therefore I decided not to risk anything by hoping that the race would turn out more decisive than expected.
And yeah, I think you do know the climber pretty well...

Nice goals. We'll definitely meet in 3 races listed as your goals. All the punchy ones as we too seek a top quality puncheur to bolster our squad. You should achieve your Asia Tour goals. Looks good for you, interesting season ahead for you Kazakh team

Thanks, man!
Will be fun competing with you in the hilly classics. I really want to have a competitive rider for those races, so if I miss out on my #1 target, I guess I'll just spend the money on boosting Salerno's hill stat instead!

We'll see you in Japan and Emilia with the Vespa A-team.
Also, very nearly chose Vancouver for us too. |

That'll be a tough challenge! I guess I'll have to hope for a bit of luck as well.

Confirmed: Giro on the wishlist
After planning out a rough schedule for the upcoming season, I can now confirm that we're really hoping for an invitation to one of the three Grand Tours - the Giro d'Italia. Although I briefly mentioned a few weeks ago in a currently unvisible tweet, it still deserves a shorter announcement.
We don't plan on participating in any other race at the time the Giro is being held, to make sure that the strongest possible squad is ready to go - hopefully upping our chances a bit.
It's obviously not a waterproof plan though, so we'll just have to wait and see what the organization decides. Missing out on a wildcard wouldn't be the end of the world, or the season. We're only looking to ride it for the fun of it, after all.

Now official: Ten riders leave the team
As a consequence of the squad rebuilding, ten of our current riders have not been offered a new contract. The sponsors showed disappointment with several of them already during last season, and they pushed me to make the decision to let them go, along with a few riders that simply don't fit in the new team.
The full list of names:
D'Amore, Crescenzo | Fonzi, Giuseppe | Longo Borghini, Paolo | Maisto, Massimiliano | Marcato, Marco | Pietropolli, Daniele | Rizza, Emanuele | Scodeller, Attilio | Sgrigna, Pier Graziano | Zanotti, Marco |

Renewals done - all remaining riders staying, for now
An contract renewal agreement was reached with all the remaining riders very quickly. Only two squad members rejected the first offer, but those deals were sealed in the second round.
As head manager of the team, I must say that I'm decently happy with how things worked out. The talents have agreed to stay on a low wage, while our more luxury domestiques have all accepted a pay cut.
The only regret is the small inexperienced mistake that messed up the deal with the team's big star, Gianpaolo Caruso, a little. No biggie luckily, and things are looking good for the upcoming transfers.
I'll also once again point out that Caruso, Niemiec, Pirazzi, Girardi and possibly Dall'Antonia, are all looking for a new home. If you're interested, please let us know here in the HQ.

AMEXpc would certianly be interested Dall'Antonia as we would like to upgrade our sprinting. Of course Dall'Antonia's salary would need to be appropiate with his skills. As a new PCT team AMEXpc does not have any high quality riders to move, but we will have some amount of cash. |

Well, the squad on the first page has been updated with the new wages.
A good bid will be necessary for Dall'Antonia though. I wouldn't mind keeping him, but if I get an interesting offer, I'm open for a transfer.
EDIT: I've removed the new wages for now. They'll be put back up when the renewals period has passed.

Sounds like successful renewals for you
I'd like to remind you Mattia Pozzo still has a very high position on our "loan in" list.

Yeah, indeed. I guess it's mainly because I managed to come to an agreement with all riders already after the second round. Had it all planned out beforehand, but still managed to screw up slightly. Anyway, it could've been worse.
And thanks. Not sure whether we'll meet a lot either, as we have very different focus areas. Best of luck to you as well, tho!
EDIT:
Don't worry cio, Pozzo is very excited to go away on that loan.

Vespa Aprilia Racing would be interested in bringing Stefano Pirazzi to our team for the right price for both teams. Unfortunately, Gianpaolo Caruso's salary as good as rules out a move from us for him.

Sergio Marinangeli is growing older and we are looking for a decent replacement for him this season. Dall'Antonia is a very similar rider and has the ability to be good at the end of a GT. Obviously, Pro Team Venchi - Sugoi is very interested in signing him if a decent deal with Cisco Cycling Team is possible.

Team Metinvest-Emirates already showed interest in Cisco riders Dall'Antonia and Niemec and we still keep that in mind, they sound like a nice transfer options if the circumstances are good.
Anyway, congratulations for a smooth renewals and good luck for 2013.
