Tour of South Africa
Stage 4
Today is a day where it could go either way, a sprint is possible, but also there's a chance of a small group making it. Gaizka's itching to set the record straight today.
Fraga again attacks to be part of the break of the day and is joined by Poutsma (Jo Piels), they spend much of the day in the break together, with little other action...
...That is until the final climb of the day when the race explodes into action, with a dangerous attack from Shaw (Drapac), Arndt (LKT) and Coenen (Differdange)
As that move gets pulled back Gaizka uses it as a springboard to launch his own attack, and he kicks harder than we've ever seen him before, all that pent up aggression from the previous days is really showing!
His attack has Van Rensburg worried as he attacks, and joins up with Shaw, Arndt and Coenen who attacked again to try bridge across, but Gaizka already has 1 minute on the group with 15km to go.
And the peloton have just sat up! Looks as though Gaizka's certainly going to be part of the winning move today, can he hold off the others though?!
He's done it! After yesterday's absolute nightmare he's now dreaming, a fine solo victory! His first professional victory! and Xacobeo Galicia's first since returning to the peleton!

An amazing day for the team in South Africa, we're all absolutely delighted with our first win, think that calls for a bottle of bubbly (Shared of course! )
And that's all from me until some time Monday, off for a long weekend in Paris with my girlfriend, have a good weekend all! |

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it, but you're going to have to wait a few days for the next instalment I'm afraid! |

Tour of South Africa
Stage 5
Another flat stage today that should end in a sprint, the downhill finish is of great interest to Gaizka who's feeling good today so we're putting our faith in him!
With no attacks until late in the stage Gaizka looks to take back some seconds in the intermediate sprints and takes 1st and 2nd in them, that'll do nicely!
With 3 km to go Gaizka launches his sprint early as he tries to get away on the downhill run in...
And he holds on! Our faith in him pays off as he takes his 2nd win in as many days! We are delighted with him!

He's 10 points behind Van Rensburg who's got 106 points, but is 30 clear of the next best. Don't think Van Rensburg's finished outside the top 10 yet, so he's always picking up points! Fraga also holds a 10 point lead in the KoM! |

@Sutty and just 2 stages left, we're going to do our best, problem is Van Rensburg is equally on fire at the minute!
The conclusion of the Tour of South Africa will be up in the next hour or so, hang tight! |

Tour of South Africa
Stage 6
Today's stage is a hilly one, Gaizka's licking his lips, can he take a 3rd straight win?!
Mariano Fraga attacks early on in the stage to consolidate his KoM jersey and he does so! He'll be taking it home with him and I can tell you he is delighted at that! He is later joined by Stevenson (Concordia)
With Stevenson over 5 minutes up the road, having dropped Fraga is soloing to a great victory, but behind the favourites start to attack, Coenen (Differdange), Jacques Janse Van Rensburg (MTN), Oostlander (Jo Piels) and Gaizka get a small gap but are quickly pulled back, but as soon as it goes uphill again Gaizka attacks once more, this time the leader Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg reacts as do Coenen and Semple (Drapac)
Stevenson takes his victory
While behind Gaizka and Coenen are unable to match Van Rensburg in the sprint and Van Rensburg takes some more time out of the both of them.
Stage
1) Christofer Stevenson - Concordia - 3h37'31
2) Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - +4'19
3) Johan Coenen - Differdange - +4'35
4) Gaizka GerekoechevarrÃá - Xacobeo - +4'35
5) Adam Semple - Drapac - +5'02
6) Jacques Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - +5'02
7) Stuart Shaw - Drapac - +5'02
8) Sander Oostlander - Jo Piels - +5'27
9) Jonas Ljungblad - Differdange - +5'27
10) Jani Tewelde Weldegaber - MTN - +5'50
GC
1) Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - 24h39'06
2) Gaizka GerekoechevarrÃa - Xacobeo - +59
3) Johan Coenen - Differdange - +1'32
4) Stuart Shaw - Drapac - +1'47
5) Nikias Arndt - LKT - +2'23
Stage 7
A flat stage with little to report today.
Nikias Arndt takes the final stage.
Stage
1) Nikias Arndt - LKT - 2h29'00
2) Rens Te Stroet - Jo Piels - +0
3) Gorka Izagirre - Xacobeo - +0
4) Johan Coenen - Differdange - +0
5) Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - +0
6) Jonas Ljungblad - Differdange - +0
7) Aaron Brown - MTN - +0
8) Sascha Weber - Differdange - +0
9) Adam Semple - Drapac - +0
10) Gaizka GerekoechevarrÃa - Xacobeo - +0
Final GC
1) Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - 27h08'06
2) Gaizka GerekoechevarrÃa - Xacobeo - +59
3) Johan Coenen - Differdange - +1'32
4) Stuart Shaw - Drapac - +1'47
5) Nikias Arndt - LKT - +2'05
Gorka Izagirre takes 7th at 5'29
KoM
Mariano Fraga - Xacobeo - 84pts
Points
Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - 138 points
Young Riders
Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - 27h08'06
A good week for us with 2 stage wins, 2nd and 7th on GC and the King of the Mountains jersey, Gaizka finishes not only 2nd on GC but also in the points and young riders classification, he'd have loved a jersey! But Van Rensburg was far too strong, podium placings in every stage apart from the final one! |
