We went with the team, to gain some experience on how it can go at races like this. It was a great week, and Team Europcar impressed once again!
Thomas Voeckler won the 5th stage of Paris - Nice and took the leader's jersey, only to lose him in the 7th stage. His victory is another great proof of his qualities and his power!

Tour de Normandie - Stages 1 to 5
François Truffaut
Stage 1
A prologue, I do decent and end 5th.
Result
1 | Paul Poux | Saur - Sojasun | 6'37 | | 2 | Damien Monier | Cofidis, Le Crédit en Ligne | + 1 | | 3 | Ed Clancy | Rapha Condor - Sharp | + 2 | | 4 | Sander Oostlander | Cyclingteam Jo Piels | + 4 | | 5 | François Truffaut | Team Europcar | + 5 | IanButler | 6 | Rony Martias | Saur - Sojasun | + 7 | | 7 | Christian Poos | Team Differdange - Magic-sportfood.de | s.t. | | 8 | Romain Zingle | Cofidis, Le Crédit en Ligne | + 8 | | 9 | Nicolas Bazin | Auber93 | s.t. | | 10 | Benoît Jarrier | Véranda Rideau U | s.t.
Stage 2
The first of many sprint stages. My form is not quite what it's supposed to be. 7th place.
Result
1 | James McAllum | Rapha Condor - Sharp | 5h14'19 | | 2 | Felix English | Rapha Condor - Sharp | s.t. | | 3 | Nicolas Bazin | Auber93 | s.t. | | 4 | Kristian House | Rapha Condor - Sharp | s.t. | | 5 | Christopher Jennings | Rapha Condor - Sharp | s.t. | | 6 | Rony Martias | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. | | 7 | François Truffaut | Team Europcar | s.t. | IanButler | 8 | Justin Jules | Véranda Rideau U | s.t. | | 9 | Ian Wilkinson | Endura Racing | s.t. | | 10 | Johan Mombaerts | Auber93 | s.t.
Stage 3
Only 80km. I'm still having difficulty finding the legs I had last year.
Result
1 | Rony Martias | Saur - Sojasun | 1h54'53 | | 2 | Mathieu Drujon | Auber93 | s.t. | | 3 | Fabien Bacquet | Auber93 | s.t. | | 4 | Maxime Le Montagner | Véranda Rideau U | s.t. | | 5 | Arnaud Molmy | Véranda Rideau U | s.t. | | 6 | Ian Wilkinson | Endura Racing | s.t. | | 7 | François Truffaut | Team Europcar | s.t. | IanButler | 8 | Steven Tronet | Auber93 | s.t. | | 9 | Rens Te Stroet | Cyclingteam Jo Piels | s.t. | | 10 | Freddy Bichot | Véranda Rideau U | s.t.
Stage 4
Things had to change. Getting a 7th place in a .2 race is really nothing if you want to compete in Tour de France. So I went to bed early and tried to get some rest. I felt much better the next day, confident that I can win here, in a 70km stage.
Team Europcar comes into action.
I launch the sprint maybe a bit late.
This is better. I was definitely the fastest, but my timing was a bit off. Tomorrow I should get a great result!
Result
1 | Remco Te Brake | CyclingTeam De Rijke | 1h35'12 | | 2 | François Truffaut | Team Europcar | s.t. | IanButler | 3 | Arnaud Molmy | Véranda Rideau U | s.t. | | 4 | Maxime Le Montagner | Véranda Rideau U | s.t. | | 5 | Ian Wilkinson | Endura Racing | s.t. | | 6 | Rony Martias | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. | | 7 | Jonathan McEvoy | Endura Racing | s.t. | | 8 | Yoeri Havik | CyclingTeam De Rijke | s.t. | | 9 | René Mandri | Endura Racing | s.t. | | 10 | Matteo Pelucchi | Team Europcar | s.t. | IanButler |
Stage 5
Pelucchi launches me brilliantly!
And I did it! Excellent, my first professional victory! I really sprinted my ass off, really did!
