Tour of Quatar
Sponsor Goal: Top 5 in the GC
The Team:
Our leader for this race will be Miron Serikov. The rest of the team has been selected based on their form and on their ability against the clock. The Team Time Trial on day 2 will be crucial to the overall GC.
Stage 1: (Flat)
Patrick Gretsch manages to slip into todays break. His Mission is bonus seconds... But Gretsch is horribly slow in the sprint, so that doesn't succeed... With 10 km to go the peloton catches the breakaway. Time to get those sprinters into position.
Serikov gets blocked but still gets a nice 8th place. Farrar wins the stage.
Stage 2: (TTT)
A very dissapointing effort by Swiss Life. Ending up 9th, 37 seconds behind the winners BMC.
Stage 3: (Flat)
Sieberg slips into the morning breakaway. He gains 12 seconds in the sprints before the peloton catches up. Farra wins his second stage.
Stage 4: (Flat)
We've seen that Serikov cant follow the top sprinters yet, so todays goal is to get Sieberg in the break once again. And it succeeds. Sieberg collects 12 seconds more. In the end, Farrar won the stage.
Stage 5: (Flat)
Sieberg can't get away. The race ends in a sprint... With Farrar as winner.
Stage 6: (Flat)
Farrar wins his 5th stage and the race. Sieberg ends up 13th overall.

What could the team do against a dominant Farrar |

Creditable effort, though. |

Wait a couple of years .. Then Serikov will kick his ass :-P
On another note it seems difficult to get wild cards.. Not even Tour de Romandie has given us a wild card. :-( |

That's too bad. However, you can concentrate on races where you have a better chance that way! |

- 2.1 - Vuelta a Murcia
Patrick Gretsch wins stage 2. A 10 km Time Trial. Podevin finishes 10th overall. A good job in a difficult race.

Alright..
As I can see it I can only participate in roughly 25% of my sponsor goals.. i cannot get a wild card or registrate for other races.
New Objective this season: Top-10 on the continental tour |

March 2013:
- 2.1 - Semaine Cycliste International
Gretsch comes in second in the final TT. One second behind Richie Porte who also wins the GC. Podevin end up 8th in the overall. Danilo Wyss wins the mountain jersey.
Conclusion:
A very poor month by the team. I perhaps overestimated the talent of the team. But who knows we had a bad start last year too.
We're only 29th on the Continental Ranking
Transfers:
Marc Marner, german puncheur has been signed for the new season. Fills a need on the team. He's a promising prospect. |

April 2013:
Tour of Turkey
As we did not get a wild card to Tour de Romandie, we participated in Tour of Turkey instead. We had a decent variety of riders at the start.
On stage 3. The only mountain stage we were aggresive with both Bertogliati and Stalder attacking. But with 8 km to go a peloton of 35 people were climbing up the final mountain. And then Morabito attacked. Well... Unfortunately he was catched with 500 meters to go as Tiernan-Locke passes him along with 2 other riders.
Morabito end up 4th on the stage, and 4th in the overall ranking.
Conclusion:
The result of Morabito saved the month, but we would like some more wins. We're up to 25th on the continental ranking.
Transfers:
Nothing new this month, however we are likely to sign a rider just a level over the ones we have already. At the moment we have our sights on the following:
Cameron Meyer
Diego Ulissi
Greg Van Avermaet
Eros Capecchi.

May 2013
- 2.HC - Tour of Bavaria
Patrick Gretsch destroys his nearest competitors in the 22 km time trial and wins 31" seconds in front of Velits. Untill then, despite our tries to hold it all together before the time trial. Quick-sim didn't want any mass sprint finishes. So Gretsch only end up 5th overall. On the final stage however, there's a mass sprint. And Magnus Gerhardsson takes the win!
Conclusion:
A very nice Tour of Bavaria kickstarts our way back into the top-10. Let's hope June brings some more good results. OUr continental ranking is now 20th.
Transfers:
We have just reached an agreement with spanish stage racer Antonino Vinals. According to our best scout this guy will become a future great. |
