Vacansoleil:
Sorted by importance
Markus
Larsson
Ligthart
Marcato
Lindeman
Keizer
Pavarin
All in bad form (50s) except Markus (mid-70), who will be our sprinter. Larsson will try, if the circumstances permit, to do something in the final TT. The others will go be helpers/leadouts and will go with breakaways.

Well, good luck anyway, even with the bad form.
Westra should have a decent form by the final stage, hopefully. And Markus will do good! |

Well, if you press the button next (left) to the 1-button (not num, but above your letters on the keyboard), the circle underneath the rider will disappear.
Aargh! It doesn't work! |

Stage 1
We tried from the start to get away with both Pavarin and Keizer, but they were chased down time after time. Eventually, a Vacansoleil-less group of 5 pulls away, with the last rider getting caught 10 km from the line.
2.5 km to go: Our sprint train with Marcato, Ligthart and Markus going strong...
However, Markus loses a lot of speed in the sharp turn and never gets futher than 10th. Hinault shows his great early season form.

Nice start.
To remove the circles, try either ' or ä. It depends on your type of keyboard.

I've tried every possible button on my keyboard, but no key works. My computer is an ASUS G53S laptop BTW... |

Stage 2
It's getting hillier, which would be perfect for a Marcato or Ligthart if they were in shape, but we'll stick with Markus in the sprint and see how he does.
Der Keizer manages to get away with Urtasun, Malle and Brammeier, and a little later, Sieberg, Jeandesboz and Wynants. He comes up short at the first KOM though, but is incredibly happy with it for some reason..
Der Keizer comes up even shorter on the second KOM though, as Wynants takes it in front of Jeandesboz.
Malle would be dropped just after the lone intermediate sprint, which was won by Sieberg in front of Brammeier.
With two laps to go, the break is still ahead by more than a minute. Will they fool the sprinters?
Spoiler No, they got caught just a lap later
1.1 km to go Our lead-out train's poor form left them dead with the hard pace at the front, so Markus, feeling great today, will have to do things on his own, and he is in Turgot's wheel under the flamme rouge..
Hinault takes the win (of course) but Markus gets a nice little third place with a late jump!

Stage 3
Another chance for Markus?
Veuchelen goes from the gun and is seen here taking the points at the first hill ahead of Blot, but they were caught in the descent.
Larsson then went with the next wave of attackers and he got a gap with Leezer, Traksel, Pichon and Maes. Larsson didn't care about the KOM sprints.
16 km to go: The group splits, with Larsson, Maes and Traksel dropping the others. The peloton is still at 1.23. Our Swede knows that he doesn't stand a chance in the sprint (Larsson SP 50, Maes 71, Traksel 72) so he tries to set a hard pace, but they come up short at 7 km to go.
1,5 km: Markus has a poor daily form, so he will lead out Ligthart, whose form has been rising the past days. However, our train fails as Markus is unable to follow Marcato's wheel...
Hinault is finally beaten by Gallopin on the line. We fail miserably, with Ligthart as our best rider in 12th...

Stage 4
Another, flatter stage. After yesterday's sprint train messup, Markus will try to follow Hinault's wheel in the sprint.
Pavarin joins th BOTD after a long (and tiring) chase.
The Italian gets dropped with 20 km to go.
Markus is well placed on Hinault's wheel, but Pavarin's ex-breakamates bump into him, which means Ligthart again has to defend our colors in the sprint...
...And yet again, he fails. Eddy the Boss takes it.

My save game got messed up as I saved an old season planner, it turned back to before the Etoile, so I don't think the GC looks to good... |

Vacansoleil:
Carrara
Leukemans
Ruijgh
Novikov
Westra
Lagutin
Selvaggi
A build-up race for Leukemans, the others are just in it to get going. No expectations at all.
Ruijgh, Sella and Aregger.
Leukemans tries to attack with 5 km to go, but gets caught under the flamme rouge.
Pippo takes it in the rain, Westra our best in 16th.

Stage 5
Will we finally get a good result in this short, hilly stage?
(Note that the GC isn't the correct one as I accidentaly messed up my savegame so it turned back to before the Etoile. I simmed the stages before).
Marcato joined the BOTD of 7.
At the top of the hill of the day, with 20 km to go, the group which has grown to 11 has 1,05 to the pack. On the descent, a huge crash. Several riders abandon with injuries.
Marcato leaves the others behind on the descent and increases his gap...
YEAH!
