Yorkshire Post, 11th February 2012.
Plusnet-White Roses debut race was a "learning experience" to quote team director Gaffeff. With a 5th and a 7th place finsih on the stages and on both occasions only losing to Worldtour teams, we believe we can operate at this level. Our aggressive riders has won us many friends (the Yorkshire team had a rider in all breakaways in the race), and we look forward to building on this. There are lessons regarding positioning for sprints and we need to work on our Team time trial which was poor. Off to the tour of South Africa next".

Lets hope for a great time in South Africa Wink

Do good there Wink

Was beginning to worry that a stage win would be harder to find than a Red postbox in Yorkshire:

Yorkshire post, 23rd February 2012.
After a 4th place on the first stage of the tour of South Africa, the second stage saw the Yorkshire teams first win. Ben Day the only Austrialian in the outfit scrambled up the final climb to win in Montecasino. Plusnet-White Roses first win in only their second race sees them move into the promotion positions for next year.
The third stage resulted in a second place for Sheffields Adam Blythe, beat by the German Rene Obst. The race continues for another 4 stages.

Yorkshire post, 24th February 2012.
A mixed day for Plusnet-White Rose as team leader Ben Day lost over 5 minutes after puncturing with 10km to go on the 4th Stage.
Andrew Tennant who will leave the team to join the olympic track team later in the year, wnet away in the mornings breakaway and now wears the king of the mountains Jersey.
Sheffielder Adam Blythe took the stage and moves into the overall lead but with further hilly stages to come, can he hold it? The only certainty is that team leader Ben Day can no longer win the race.

BBC radio Yorkshire, Feb 24th 2012.
We're here in South Africa for our first broadcast on the new "Day on the Bikes" series. Here we will cover the last hour of each stage where the Yorkshire Plusnet-White Rose team is racing.
Today we start our commentary at the 42km stage and we will start that shortly.
Plusnets Andy Tennant took the only rated mountain today a second catogary climb, which extends his lead in the King of the mountain jersey. He will only need 2 points on tomorrows stage to confirm his win in that competition.
Dean Downing has led the peleton from the front for most of the day, Adam Blythe currently sits in Yellow, leading the oerall standings with his fellow sprinter Kochelkov only 10 seconds behind him.
Now over to Commentary: The race has 40km to go, Pusnets Dean Downing still on the front.
Brian: Welcome to South Africa on "Day on the bikes", I'm Brian Smith and now over to Robert Shippam.
Robert: Plusnet with Dean Downing have kept the pace high today so there have been no breakaways. No major scares for Plusnet so far, However the pace will now start to rise as all the teams think about the finish, it's expected to be a sprint finsih so expect Obst, Kochetkov and Blythe to contest it between them. However with a steep hill 8 km before the end of the stage likely to disrupt formations of sprint trains to is likely to be a messy Sprint ....

Brian: With 24 klicks to go the fight for the front of the pelton starts in ernest, the whole pack is together. Rabobank take to the front of the peleton and lay down a formidable pace ...

Brian: with 17km to go the struggle for the ladout has been settled with Pusnet taking the lead...

Brian: Into the last 6km and s expected the late climb has disrupted the sprint trains. Blythe is stuck on the wheel of Ben Day being taken to the front.
Robert: No real trains but NSP do have three riders setup nicely leading out Obst.
Brian: Thankfully no crashes but a very chaotic sprint. Blythe drops off the wheel of Day to follow Kochetkov to ensure he stays in Yeloow. The Sprint starts ...
Robert: And none of the favorites are well placed Obst seems to be struggling to overtake his teammate. Kochetkov will finish behind Blythe so no change in Yellow. Eric .. sorry Rick Zabel racing through on the rails.
Brian: But to even his Teammates Obst surprise and possible annoyance NSP rider Tino Thoemel takes the stage win. With Obst second and Zabel third, thats a 123 for Germany. Adam Blythe will be happy with that keeping his lead over Kochetkov.
We'll be back tomorrow for coverage of the Queen Stage over the Old Helshoogte pass.

Do you guys prefer this style, also how to I add the pictures into the middle of the story?

Ian Butler
You have to use a site like Photobucket, upload your picture there and then put it in the comment. () (X is the link of the picture)

I like it, it's indeed like a radio!

Still working on the photobucket, will retro fit the photos later.
BBC Radio Yorkshire: 26th February 2012.
Robert: Todays stage takes us up the old Helshoogte Pass. There are three catogarised climbs before the final uphill finish. NSP's Climber Marcus Fothern is the favorite for the stage and probably the race. However Adam Blythe starts 42 seconds ahead and will have the team around him today. The tactics will be interesting...
Brian: We welcom the listeners with the news that a breakaway is ahead at the 37.1km stage. Boeve, Stevenson and Vaugliv are 1'57" ahead of the peleton, with Schreurs and Polnicky between them. All the favorites are currently in the peleton...
Brian: with 27.0km to go the distance has extended to 2minutes 17 seconds. However Plusnet are holding the gap. They are not setting a fast pace up the cat 1 climb, just Dean Downing on the front...
Brian: Fotherns attacks as the peleton crests the cat1 climb. Can Plusnet respond?
Robert: I don't think he'll be able to keep the gap on the downhill, Plusnet hit the front and the team work to slowly bring him back on the descent. With 17.1km to go, I don't believe he will be able to hold the breakaway...
Brian: Now only 15 clicks to go and plusnet have brought them back together...
Brian: Now onto the final climb. 3km, and Fothern goes for it right from the base of the climb and Blythe does not respond, just keeping his team, now down to 5 riders driving quickly at the front.
Robert: Fothern is now brought back, then with 1.9km to go he attacks again. This time Blythe goes with him, can fothern make the 42 second gap, bearing in mind 20 seconds for the win.
Brian: Now it's just pure strength, however Fothern can't hold the lead, the previous attacks tiring him out and Blythe is still fresh.
Robert: Rusakov takes the stage, with Fothern finsishing second, however Adam Blythe comes over the line in 5th with the same time. The time bonus won't be enough so Adam Blythe holds on to the leaders jersey. A tough stage and a good result for Plusnet?
Brian: Yes, Adam has stated he wants to compete in more of the Belgian classics and this will be a good comparison for him to prove he is more than just a sprinter. Well done. Andy Tennant keeps his polka dot jersey and with no climbs tomorrow will keep it to the finish. A good day for Plusnet.

Ian Butler
Blythe does well. Curious how he'll do in the Belgian classics!

Yorkshire Post, 27th Febuary.
No changes on the final stage of the tour of Africa, Adam Blythe came second on the two intermediate sprints and third on the stage ensuring it was impossible for anyone to catch him on GC.
This mean that Plusnet have walked away from the Tour of South Africa with the Yellow Jersey on the shoulders of Adam Blythe (who also takes the Points and best Young rider Jersey) and the polka dot on the shoulders of Andrew Tennant. A domining performance from Plusnet. Their Next race will be in classics country the tour of West-Flanders.

End of Month Summary:
Plusnet sit 27th on the Superprestige table (and 6th on the continental), and have a balance of 146k. We have started the search for a new National level sponsor for next year, the plan is to get a one year contract to cover us (hopefully in the Pro-continental league), then depending on results we can change that sponsor.
As it looks we will be pro-conti next season I have also started the contracts review, so time to talk about my transfer rules.
I will look to refresh all contracts, but will try to reduce the status where possible to free up new riders. In addition to the normal PCM transfer rules, I will add the following. If bringing in a rider from a level above your final position (i.e. in our case Pro-tour - hopefully), then they must be given a status one above their current pro-tour level. I.e. If I want to sign a Protected rider from the Pro-tour, they will take up one of my three Absolute rider slots. Consequently I can't sign Bradley Wiggins even though his contract is up for grabs (Pity but I think a bit more realistic).

Ian Butler
Excellent race in South Africa Wink

Good thing that you're not signing Wiggins, and great idea that you offer them one position above their current, very realistic!

Gaffeff: Hi Adam, Welcome in. Well done in South Africa.
Adam (Blythe): How much trouble am I in, boss?
Gaffeff: Well hopefully you'll be writing something later, but it won't be lines! I want to talk about contracts. Firstly I want you to know, that I believe you are a rider with great potential and we want to keep you. I see you as being a sprinter in the Tom Boonen mold and therefore I want you to be the main sprinter for our cobblestone team.
Adam: Thanks Boss, I think thats fair.
Gaffeff: I am looking to strengthen the cobblestone part of our team and would like then to sign a new rider to lead it. I don't have anyone decided yet, but I want to be able to offer them the leadership of our classics team. Do I have your agreement to do that?
Adam: Yes, I can see that we want to improve this part of the team. I don't think I'm ready yet to lead the classics team, however I intend to change that in the future, so whoever you get will have to be on his guard.
Gaffeff: Thanks Adam, I need to talk to someone else about this as will so request you keep it to yourself at the moment.

Effect: Adam Blythe signs new two year contract, moves from Absolute leader to Protected rider. Agreement reached to sign absolute leader cobblestone specialist.

Gaffeff: Hi Ian.
Ian (Wilkinson): Hi.
Gaffeff: I want to talk about contracts. It looks like next year we are going to be a pro-conti team and as such I need to look towards building for the future. I'll be looking for you to be the road captain of this team. Your experience will be key in improving the team. I would be looking to sign a new leader, however I want you to stay and help build up the experience of the classics team. Do I have your support.
Ian: Yes of course, I like this team and will be very happy to stay.

Effect: Ian Wilkinson moves from Protected rider to Luxury team mate. Signs a new contract, agreement reached to sign absolute leader cobblestone specialist.

Search: New rider, Cobblestones over 70, Contract: ends this year or Free, Salary: Under 21k. Preferred age under 30, Yorkshire Rider 1st Choice, then other British, then other.

1: Sebastian Langeveld, 2: Gediminas Bagdonas, 3: Ion Izagirre.

Ian Butler
Great fellows, that they want to move over for leaders, nice Smile

Gaffeff
Other contract negotiations:
R Downing believes himself to be the second/third best sprinter in the team, so declines a downgrade but signs a new contract as Protected rider.
Ben Day, Dean Downing and Dan Fleeman accept moving to luxury team mate.
Bibby, Bellis, Partridge and Thwaites agree to move to team mate contracts.
Matt Cronshaw declines to sign a new contract following attention from the de Rijke team, he advises he will consider his options and then advise us.

Also Nicholas Boyle, a rider described by the cycling press as worth watching, joins as a young rider. He is a up and coming timetrialler from Yorkshire.

Sounds like Cronshaw could be saying goodbye at the end of the season Frown

Yorkshire Post, 3rd March 2012.
An okay day for Plusnet. Ben Day is the highest placed rider in 8th. Team leader Ian Wilkinson is down in 28th, 16 seconds down. Sheffield born Adam Blythe also finsihed 16 seconds down.
Argos-Shimano's Patrick Gretsch took the win in a time of 9 minutes 25 seconds, with Vaconsoleil's Devolder and Keizer taking 2nd and third with only tenths of a second seperating them.
