Nice idea, and different style of reporting
But it just looks a bit messy, a bit cluttered, and is too hard to read. At least for me.
Also on the last post, you cant see the final text (indurain wins) and see his face, small things like this make it hard to read.
But some potential here.

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate this.
On my screen I do see Indurains face and the text together and I only have to scroll down to read the entire story. Do others have problems??? I can imagine that it is very dificult to read if you also have to scroll from the left to the right...
Here are the stage results:

The last race finished in a mass sprint. Indurain wins the Vuelta a Andalucia. Although the competition was bad, this is always a good start to the season

Miguel did OK. But the competition was weak. Winning Almeria will be much more difficult as we will give some less talented riders a chance to take a victory.

It is a result how I configured the areas where the various teams are operating. Besides the home country I also let the Colombian and Portuguese teams ride in Spain, while the Swiss teams with a lot of French riders also ride in France and the German teams in Belgium and Holland. I think I also placed the Soviet teams in France and I spread the US teams around over the map. So far the line-ups have been pretty realistic. Also I have only 15 protour teams which are not obligated to ride every race. As a result the starting grids of the important races are very realistic. There are no Spanish teams in Paris Roubaix for example. Or cobblestone specialist teams do not participate in the Giro. I only placed 15 teams in the ProTour as only points are awarded for about 12 single day races (like the old world cup system). Hence teams like Castorama, Banesto, ONCE which are completely set up for multistage races will not do well and may be relegated. With only 15 preselected teams there are still plenty of wildcards for these teams to get selected. I have to admit that occasionally some Colombian team takes on "Paris Roubaix". Those poor Colombians won't know what hit them. I will use an editor to fix this. |

Once more the race did not end in a mass sprint and the breakaway made it to the finish. I like it! Fourth is better than expected.
