Poor Martin, he was almost sure to take the Olympic gold. Might as well hand it to Cancellara now and save ourselves the time.
Goss for today I think. Or hope.

The curse of the World Champion seems to have struck on the time trial side this year

This. Seems a few journo's were confused and tweeting about Martin breaking his collarbone. Subsequently they seem have back tracked and said just the wrist and hopefully not too serious.
By just the wrist and not too serious I meant hopefully no break, though the latest seems to be that they will make a decision on Monday morning. |

Nobody believes in Peter? Well i hope he proves you wrong, but pretty likely he will save something for tommorow, which suits him better by the profile.

Gossy. Boring to see Cav win but if he actually earns it then so be it. I hated seeing HTC own the race and then Cav win by a mile.

Judging by that intermediate sprint, I don't reckon Cav'll do it. But he's never really predictable.
My thoughts exactly. Didn't look fresh at all for that sprint.
Well - he is quite predictable in the sense that he'll basically always win. Really can't bet against him until he loses in my opinion. Boasson Hagen isn't an experienced lead out man, but in terms of ability you won't find anyone better suited for the role. So Cavendish for me - even if I understand that some feel it is a bit more open now than before.
I don't really know Goss and Kittel that well, but I'm not overly impressed with Cavendish's competition. The fact that a guys like Sagan too some extent Boasson Hagen seem fairly competitive against the "pure" sprinters indicates to me that the current crop of sprinters aren't that strong - obviously with the exception of Cavendish who could very well be the best ever. |

I have to disagree. Greipel, Goss, Kittel and probably Sagan can all beat Cav in this Tour. Cav is obviously still the fastest, but those others are all just one step behind. Then there's Farrar, Rojas, Pettachi, Hutarovich and up-and-comers like Demare and Bouhanni who can compete now and will compete in the future.

Cav's lost a lot of weight, I don't know how he'll do in the sprint.
Kittel, Sagan, Goss, Greipel... They all have a big shot here today.
And let's hope we won't have any Giro-sprints where half the peleton goes down (knock on wood). |

Also Sky's team not really great for forming a train, well its not bad but not even remotely as good as HTC's back in the day so obviously harder for Cav to win things.
Edit: Tony Martin news: Jerome Pineau said Tony Martin will propably continue fingers crossed!

Must admit the GreenEDGE team was pushing all trains out the way yesterday.
They underestimated the climb i think |

It's been confirmed now. He still rides a little bit injured mind you.

Not saying Cavendish will definitely win. I think it is fair enough speculating in it being closer as Cavendish has lost 10 pounds which got to influence his ability to sprint somewhat. I'm just saying based on how dominant he has been before he can lose quite a lot of ability and still win sprints with today's competition (unless some of those have become a lot quicker since last season). |

No, they are Gesink-Mollema orientated.
Renshaw has no train, just Tjallingii and Wynants to help him up front. But only to put him in the wheel of another sprinter. They can't make a train |

no Ferrari, we should be fine...
I expect Greipel to win today. Kittel isnt quite as fast as the end of last year, neither is Farrar. Cavs always takes a few days to get going. Sagan i dont know, i've never seen him in a full sprint on a flat stage (Cali doesnt count for me due to lack of other big sprinters). Goss could surprise as well, at least podium.
I also predict a crash in the last 20-30km that will take one GC favorite out of contention either through injury or time loss (heres hoping its evans even though i like him)
