Never did a 1000m....
But I like the 800...
Never did a 100 either, I am more for distance than speed.

Most of the time I do 5000 meters road running.
Compared to your other times you should be able to do the 800m under 2.30, at least

Same here, but I combine it so I don't lose my speed for a 400m, they will be there on the competitions in 2 years. 400m-600m-800m-1000m are definately my favorite distances.

And I'm 14 running 2.25's
I do compete on national level though, so perhaps my times are a bit fast for my age.

First yes I'm 17
Second yes I can improve my best time at the 800 meters, I only did once a 800 meter at the school grass field.
and Third I'm only trying to improve my 5000 meter time, because I love that distance but the last few months I'm practising on my long long long distance (read; the marathon. I'm running my first one in February) |

Switching from 5000 to the marathon is very unusual. Plus running marathons that young is not common either, I think.
I'm not expecting to run marathons before I turn 35 or something. I stick to things that are more or less between 10 km and semi-marathons. I might do shorter stuff (more pacey) this Winter though. |

Strange that It took me so long to stumble upon this thread...
I meself are a born again Sprinter (means i started up again with the beginning of college last Octobre)
Since then I had an injury ridden year so my pbs are not very good (and they were also set when I was insanely hungover).
100m - 12.35 (im working on it same goes for 200)
200m - 25.14
And for the craic I sometimes do 400m. My PB is respectable considering that I never trained for it in my whole life and just came off a 60m sprint before running it (twas indoors havent done any other 4 yet)
PB - 57.03
I am always open for tips (if there are any sprinters out there) since im planning on doing a competition in the next days. Plus I may be able to give some advice on training sessions as well (trained with/by an olympian this past year)...

Hmm for me it isn't that hard, my condition is pretty good. Off course I will not run a time under the 3 hours the first time, but I'll certainly finish in time. |

Going on to twenty next month... I should be further than that! Anyways, I still have a month to break a under 20's record for the team i train with in germany (i act as a guest starter while im visiting my parents).
The record in the team is something like 25.86 and dates back to more than 30 years ago now. Fingers crossed^^

I could probably finish a marathon as well, if just for the fun of it, or to prove I can, but while I'm still young (it's relative ), I try to use my speed, which I'll inevitably lose with age. I don't want to specialise in marathons too young.
As I'm trying to remain low on glycemia all the time, and manage to do well that way (I can ride 90 km on the bike with a cup of coffee, without eating on the bike either, and without being particularly exhausted in the end), a "pasta party" on the eve of a race is like a cheat code for unlimited energy, so a marathon doesn't really scare me. Plus I sometimes run up to 100 km a week.
Makes me think that I should maybe start working on marathons ASAP, as my speed is not exceptional and I already have proven endurance abilities. |

On my club, there are some guys of my age (14) running 11.50
But those are really quick times, good luck!

There was an 18 year old at my school that did 100m in 11.2

A friend of mine ran the 200 in 20.57 at a senior meeting in Velenje and then at the irish nationals he ran a 20.40 (sadly +3.0 secs wind)
Just so you guys know how devastating it is for him. Ireland qualifies for the Olympics by Olympic A Standard. And the A Standard for 200m is 20.55 with a wind limit of 2.0 max...

Good point about the speed, but I guess I don't really have that speed. Yes here in the Netherlands my 5000 meter time is enough for a top 10 classification out of 400 runners in the races I do (just the small regionals). but let's say I'm like Jens Voigt on the bike, He can't just sprint away from the peloton but he can really long hold one speed. |
