2012 Tour of Qatar
Stage 2
Pre-race comments
The Team Time Trial. This isnt in my comfort zone but we are the favourites so we'll see how we go.
Race
UnitedHealthcare set the fastest time early on with a 14'47
Greenedge, one of the favourites for this TTT put in a respectable time but only good enough for 4th.
Team Type 1 come in and take 4th place from Greenedge.
Garmin come in and go 5th best, only 5 seconds down on the best time.
Astana rode a good TTT today and go 3rd fastest 1 second down on the leaders.
Katusha are the final team out today and their time is only good enough for 7th best.

2012 Tour of Qatar
Stage 3
Race
90km to go - Many attacks were made but it looks like we have our first break which looks like it will stay away for awhile. A group of 7 riders.
11km to go - The breakaway of course would not succeed and this will go down to another sprint finish.
2.8km to go - The final sprint is about to start. Katusha have the lead at the moment. Farrar's train is slowing and running out of energy and will have to jump over and see if he can come around the riders ahead of him.
1km to go - Freire has hit the front with Impey. Farrar has just opened up but it may be too little, too late.
0.5km to go - Farrar is starting to gain but it may not be enough.
Finish
Freire just hangs on, Farrar finished 2nd and will keep the overall lead.

2012 Tour of Qatar
Stage 4
Race
103km to go - The winning break today is a group of 13 riders. We'll try to make sure they don't stay out for too long.
60km to go - We let the gap get out to just under 5 minutes before we start lifting the tempo.
30km to go - The gap is down to 2 minutes. Katusha are helping out with the chase now.
8km to go - The final riders have been caught, we'll have another bunch sprint today.
2.5km to go - Katusha lead out the sprint for Freire. They're just ahead of the Garmin train on the right.
1km to go - Lacombe hits the front with Freirenext to him. Farrar is gaining but is having trouble finding a gap. Can he take the win?
Finish
Paolini shoots up the left side and takes a nice stage victory. Farrar found the gap a bit too late but still managed to come in 3rd ahead of Freire.

2012 Tour of Qatar
Stage 5
Race
4 riders in todays break.
They wouldnt survive though and we will have a sprint finish. Astana this time have a good setup for Bozic.
Katusha and Garmin just behind.
With 1km to go it's Lacombe once again who hits the front. Bozic is in the middle with Farrar waiting to pounce. Freire on the left is beginning to pick up speed.
Finish
And once again we have to settle for 2nd behind a Katusha rider as Freire takes the stage win.

2012 Tour of Qatar
Stage 6
Pre-race comments
We have to keep a very close eye on Freire today. If he places well and Farrar does not we will lose the overall
and i'd be gutted if we lost it on the last day.
Race
A break of 13 get away today. Highest placed rider is Cameron Wurf who is 52 seconds behind Farrar. We won't let this breakaway succeed.
And the break was pulled back of course. Our train was set well but Farrar unfortunate was blocked and couldnt stick with his teammates. He has to try once again to come around everyone.
As we come under the 1km banner Freire has just opened up and hits the front. Farrar is moving faster at this point but he's used up a bit of energy getting to this spot. Can he take victory?
Finish
YES! YES HE CAN! Farrar just takes the win. Ponzi finished strong to take 2nd place with Freire coming 3rd. Farrar leaves the Tour of Qatar with 2 stage wins and the overall honours

Tyler Farrar looks like he is well on his way to a green jersey in the Tour. Great racing in Qatar!

Stage 1
Race
With 100km to go there is no clear breakaway. Many attacks have been made but the peloton have chased all of them down.
Finally 3 riders manage to slip away and open a large enough gap.
With 12km to go the riders were brought back.
The winds today were incredibly strong and with 8km to go the peloton was split!. Only 55 riders are at the front now. Hesjedal made the split, but only just.
As the sprint begins we have Paolini leading out Freire on the left with Pozzata, Markov and Fernandez on his wheel. On the right we have Ben Swift trying to bring Mark Cavendish to the front.
Freire rides past Paolini with 1km to go. Pozzato and Cavendish trying to go with the Spaniard. Fernandez ran out of energy and is well back now.
Finish
Cavendish surges past and takes a comfortable stage win.

Stage 1
Race
11 riders broke away today. The gap gets as high as 8 minutes before the peloton start chasing them down.
With 10km to go the breakaway are still ahead. Garmin have alot of riders at the front trying to bring them back.
With 2.5km to go the sprint in the break starts. They still have a slight lead but can they hang on from the riders in the peloton. For us today, Dekker has been feeling really good today and will challenge in the sprint.
Finish
Jarc from NetApp takes the win. Dekker finished 3rd in the riders from the peloton. There were no timegaps today.

2012 Tour of Oman
Stage 2
Race
The winds are even stronger today as you can see here.
This looks like the winning break today, some riders still trying to cross the gap in the strong winds.
These were the gaps with 10km to go. It looks like the peloton will bring them back just in time for a sprint finish.
2 riders have attempted to spoil the party for the sprinter by attacking. I don't think they'll be able to hold on though. Haussler has brought Fernandez into a good position here.
Markov has hit the front but I think he's gone too early. Fernandez has just opened up and so has Cavendish.
Finish
Cavendish is once again too strong. Fernandez put in a great sprint and comes in 2nd place.
