It's been a long time since I last went to school, and I didn't dare cheating.
Next rounds should go better for me. Bring 'em on. |

On to the next part: languages!
1. In what country is the Isan language spoken? | /1 |
2. What's the second official language in Finland? | /1 |
3. What are the 3 most spoken native languages in the world? | /3 |
4. The United States does not have a national official language. There are states that did adopt English as the official language. How many states did this? | /2 | a. 14 | b. 23 | c. 27 | d. 35 | e. 44 |
5. What's the official language of Tajikistan? | /1 |
6. Name 3 West-Germanic languages still in use today. | /3 |
7. Is Samoan a dialect or an official language? | /1 |
Seeing as i received all answer within 2 days, i'll put the deadline on Thursday 24.00 GMT+1. I didn't put any translations in this round, as native speakers would have an advantage.
Good luck!

hoping for 4/7
If offense is the best defence, does it mean that defence is the worst defence?

Hey I protest against the desert question, in Central Europe we are learning that Sahara is the biggest. It seems it depends if you connect the word desert with sand.
We do and the area you seems to know as "Antartic desert" is called "polar wasteland" in here. Also many english sources are rating Sahara as the biggest deser when i am checking it now. Artic and antartic "deserts" are not desert in the right meaning of the world, they are wastelands.
But that doesnt matter, it is only because of language barrier and different education system
The quiz is great, number of questions is fine, maybe avoid questions, which can be explained in many ways, like that desert. And i will probably suck a lot in the second part

The technical definition for a desert is to do with the amount of precipitation the place receives (rainfall, snow etc), not the temperature/precipitation

But I assume Antartic (and Artic as well) receives a significant share of snow, doesn't it ? So, is it still a desert in that case ? |

From wikipedia:
A desert is a landscape or region that receives an extremely low amount of precipitation, less than enough to support growth of most plants.
Also, most people associate desert with dry and warm places. The official word also includes the following:

Antarctica, on average, is the coldest, driest, and windiest continent, and has the highest average elevation of all the continents.[6] Antarctica is considered a desert, with annual precipitation of only 200 mm (8 inches) along the coast and far less inland.
Precipitation includes snow

Ask i am looking to czech wikipedia, there are really two different names for these too.
1.Polar wasteland (also called ice desert or freeze desert)
2. Desert
It seems different areas have different terminology. To make it clear, i dont want this extra point much, just discussing this interesting diversity.

That's quite weird. The technical definition of a desert is a very well established geographical term
