@valverde Thanks so much!
Canada will be tough, but Gerrans will be there too, so Danny will just have to try his luck in a break.
Aussie Champs up soon...

Australian Championships Weekend
The Australian champs are the usual place were the season starts. These are obviously a big few days for GreenEDGE, so we hope to take at least the road title.
The Road Race is one of the tougher nationals races in cycling. The riders have to ride up Mt. Buninyong, and then straight down a very fast section, and do it 15 more times. Very hard. The race may make it to a sprint, but with 9 strong riders in our squad we expected to control the race and win.
The race started with a strong 6-man break containing Jack Bobridge , Matthew Lloyd and others. Those two controlled the break until late in the race, when an attack by Rory Sutherland blew apart the peloton and breakaway. It eventually fell down to just Bobridge and Sutherland at the front, but they would be caught.
With the group in one, Simon Gerrans and Allan Davis acted like the veterans they were, thinking on their pedals to start a lead out for Matt Goss. This worked marvellously with Davis and Gossy taking it all the way to the line, with Matt taking the win!
1 | Matthew Goss | GreenEdge Cycling Team | 4h47'26 | 2 | Allan Davis | GreenEdge Cycling Team | s.t. | 3 | Michael Rogers | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 4 | Michael Matthews | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Stuart O'Grady | GreenEdge Cycling Team | s.t. | 6 | Jack Bobridge | GreenEdge Cycling Team | s.t. | 7 | Matthew Hayman | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 8 | David Tanner | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. | 9 | Richie Porte | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 10 | Jonathan Cantwell | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. |
Spoiler 11 | Simon Gerrans | GreenEdge Cycling Team | s.t. | 12 | Heinrich Haussler | Garmin - Barracuda | s.t. | 13 | Rory Sutherland | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 14 | Ben Day | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 15 | Cameron Meyer | GreenEdge Cycling Team | s.t. | 16 | Jack Anderson | Endura Racing | s.t. | 17 | Robbie McEwen | GreenEdge Cycling Team | + 1'00 | 18 | Matthew Wilson | GreenEdge Cycling Team | s.t. | 19 | Nathan Haas | Garmin - Barracuda | s.t. | 20 | Aaron Kemps | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 21 | Adam Hansen | Lotto Belisol Team | s.t. | 22 | Christopher Sutton | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 23 | Hilton Clarke | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 24 | Cameron Wurf | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 25 | Matthew Lloyd | Lampre - ISD | s.t. | 26 | Luke Durbridge | GreenEdge Cycling Team | s.t. | 27 | Graeme Brown | Rabobank Cycling Team | + 1'56 | 28 | Luke Roberts | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. | 29 | Zakkari Dempster | Endura Racing | s.t. | 30 | Fabio Calabria | Team Type 1 - Sanofi | s.t. | 31 | Timothy Roe | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 32 | Joshua Prete | Whirlpool - Author | s.t. | 33 | Karl Menzies | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 34 | Jonathan Clarke | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 35 | Mark Renshaw | Rabobank Cycling Team | + 2'41 | 36 | Scott Law | An Post - Sean Kelly | s.t. | 37 | William Clarke | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | + 3'48 | 38 | Dean Windsor | Endura Racing | s.t. |
The race against the clock wouldn't be as easy. With Durbridge, Hepburn, Bobridge and Cam Meyer in the squad, we were well represented, but the Sky pair of Michael Rogers and Richie Porte would be too strong. They rode very well, and took a 1-2. Meyer and Durbridge both rode well too, taking 4th and 5th respectively.

Is that an ingame filter, or do those screens look great from means, outside the game?

Thank you, Oman will be around in no time.

Thanks, the filter was I think high dynamic contrast with a focus on warm colours. I think it looks nice. With the 2nd one though I just changed up some of the light settings on PS.

Santos Tour Down Under
Edvald Boasson Hagen and Simon Gerrans wait to start.
This year's TDU was obviously a big race for GreenEDGE, and with the summit finish on Wilunga Hill, Simon Gerrans was going for the win. Unfortunantely the chances of a dream win were severely damaged when Simon crashed and dropped out on the 2nd stage. This meant Matt Goss, who was the sprint leader, moved to leader. He couldn't achieve a stage win, but was top-5 twice.
The decisive days of the race were stages three and five. In stage 4 a sprint was expected but a 4 man group took it all the way to the line, with Denis Van Winden coming in first and taking the ochre. With a 37" gap he was a good chance to take the overall.
On Stage 5 up to Wilunga though, Van Winden wasn't confident of keeping his ochre. The first climb tore his energy away, and he dropped back. But after a huge effort from his team, he made it back to the peloton.
The final sprint up to Wilunga was chaotic to say the least. Christian Knees of Sky had the early lead, but Edvald Boasson Hagen and Oscar Freire looked to be in the best shape. But then out of nowhere came Thor Hushovd, who forced his way up to take the win!
Thor sprints his way ahead! Goss in 8th.
Although it seemed there were clear gaps between riders, nearly all riders were given the same time, which gifted Denis Van Winden the overall lead into Adelaide, which ended in Andre Greipel crossing the line first.

I think if the gaps were registered, Goss would have got top-10, but that's the breaks. And I'm sure if Simon hadn't crashed he would have been up there.
January summary up next, then Oman.

Nice TDU review. Good to see Freire finishing high up in more than one story now
I cant seem to get my game to apply those filters I click them and nothing happens.

Thanks. I hated Freire at Rabo but I like him now at Katusha.
And about those filters, I dunno what's wrong. Probably something needs to be ticked, not sure though.

January is the first, and one of the shortest months in the cycling calendar.
The biggest race is of course the Tour Down Under, and Rabobank get some precious points to start the season. Arroyo and Moreno both showed off their climbing legs early on.
Thor was great on top of Wilunga Hill.

@Pellizotti Thanks! A lot more where that came from would be great!
Tour of Oman - Preview
This year in Oman the route is identical to that of last year. With 4 flat stages, a 20km TT and a mountain finish, the race is quite varied compared to it's Middle Eastern partner in crime the Tour of Qatar. The stage 4 summit finish will be quite selective but it's not too long or too steep, so a sprinter with good climbing skills should be able to keep up.

GreenEDGE Plan
Now don't get too excited. Although I'm listed here as leader, Albasini will probably take me over come stage 4. His form is a little low at the moment, but will get better. We have Matt Goss here too, and with good form the DS expects at least one stage win. I will have more of a free role, getting in breakaways, and also aiming for a top-20 on the TT.

Tour of Oman - Stage 1
Although we are hoping for Gossy in the sprint, I'll try early in the day to join the break. If I'm not succesfull I'll do some work in the peloton.
As I promised, I picked my time and attacked. Luckily, only a few people followed so the pack let us go to form a BOTD.
Me and 5 other riders got away, and working at the front in my first race of the season was tough on the legs.
With 65kms left in the race, our group was going well with a 6'00" lead over the seemingly relaxed peloton.
Back in the peloton the teams were finally starting to react, and the gap starting to shrink rapidly.
With the lead now down to under one minute, one of my break colleagues attacked. I reacted, but we were eventually brought back. A tough day, but it's always great to be in the BOTD.
We were really the only team to start an effective train, so Goss was looking good so far.
When Matty kicked, he absolutely blew away the rest of the field, flying ahead. Surely he can't be beaten now?
No he can't. Matt takes our first real win of the season, and of course the leader's jersey.

A perfect start. We created a great train, and Brett was a great lead-out. Also Danny of course was terrific in the break, and saved our domestiques a lot of energy.
