I really hope for Colombia-Coldeportes here, it's their season goal and they have a big chance on invite and actually affecting the race in big style. A & S and Androni are certs. That leaves Colango, Farnese and Netapp for final spot. Colango has Modolo and Pozzovivo, while Farnsese has Pozzato and Gatto, with Netapp having few good riders too. In my books Colnago gets the final spot, but only just.

Actually, just Colnago-CSF Inox, Androni-Giocattoli, Acqua & Sapone, Farnese Vini, Coldeportes, Project 1t4i, Team Type 1 and Champion System have requested a wildcard for the Giro. The others have requested a spot in (at least) one of the other RCS events.
As far as I know also NetApp requested for a Giro spot.
Jens Heppner said this week that it would be a big step for the team to get a Giro wildcard and with guys like König, Brändle or Barta they have good chances to perform well.
Nevertheless I think Colnago-CSF Inox, Androni-Giocattoli, Acqua & Sapone, Farnese Vini are the 4 wildcards most probably.
True. I was wrong. Those 8 teams are those Acquarone 'highlighted' in this blog, so imo they have the most chances to get a wildcard. I guess that's the cause of my confusion.
I don't think the four wildcards will be Italian by thy way. I think one, or even two, of the teams you named will be left out (and Colnago is possibly the best placed for that), and Coldeportes would be a nice team to get that place. The rest I don't think would add much to the race.

Pozzovivo has no luck in the Giro, and since Belletti's win in 2010, Colnago haven't done much in the Giro, so I think I'd rather have a different team in this year's line-up. |

Valverde to race Tour Down Under, thats a must watch for me being a huge Valverde back, really excited to see him back, and for those who may think my mind has change, I still believe he is innocent for actually taking no banned substance but I can see why he was banned and just glad its over and hes back

It should be mentioned that Valverde intends to race a ludicrously heavy schedule as always
I'd love to see him try for something different and go all out for some of the italian races, plus Paris-Nice, not to mention the Tour de Suisse. I mean what's the point in trying to win the same races he's already won? Race the Giro and try to win Lombardia Piti. You know you want to.

I have a feeling Valverde will be in no rush to race in Italy!

Either Valverde gave Fuentes his blood for doping, or he gave him his blood in order to enact some weird sexual fetish.

I very much doubt he can beat Gilbert in the classics, Gilbert is just too good now, a podium placing on this years Tour would be a good comeback along with wekk long stage race wins

Maybe it was stolen from Valverde while he was unconscious or something ?
Who knows what kind of weirdo Fuentes is.
I believe he's innocent and was the victim of some blood maniac.

He's allowed to race again, as far as I understand.
In November, the 26-year-old Baugé was handed a one year backdated suspension, expiring 22 December 2011, by Fédération Française de Cyclisme’s (FFC) National Disciplinary Commission.

So basically, he was suspended for 1 month?
Backdated suspensions are stupid

yeah, they are.
But at least he was stripped of his world championship titles as well.

And some good news: Despite previous reports, Tour of Med will take place in 2012. |

Just for anyone who is interested in following the presentation of RadioShack-Nissan-Trek, you can follow it on the site of ex-Leopard Trek (https://www.leopardtrek.lu). It starts tonight at 19.45 CET.
(CrueTrue closed the thread of it, so I repost it here.)

In further out of competition test news...
Mark Cavendish missed one last year.
Oh well... it's not a big deal as made out by some media outlets.
