No it doesn't. But it seldom goes over 5%, so it suits the likes of Leipheimer better than the likes of Henao, imo.
Exactly, any TT favors Leipheimer, and remember, he's a great climber! He fished the TDF 3rd in 07. He's very capable. |

I tend to disagree, with him still being a great climber. That was 4 years ago, and what is he now 37, 36? Levi is still a good TTer, but I wouldn't say he's a "great" climber anymore. He's still a decent climber, but he's worsened since then.
Or atleast using a result from 4 years ago, might be a little outdated for this arguement, if you get my point.
And Levi still has a great shot at winning this race, so maybe I'm just wasting my words a bit there.

I think it will come down to Evans, if he adapts well to the altitude, I think he is simply too strong to be beat right now. If not I think Levi will have the best chance as he is more used to the altitude.
The first stage tomorrow the riders will start at over 2000m and never come back below that. The Wednesday the riders will go over two peaks, one right at 3700, and the other about 3645m.
For those not used to this altitude, the entire race stays basically over 1800m where riders get about 21% less oxygen each breath than they would at sea level, and then Wednesday the riders will go over two peaks, one right at 3700, and the other about 3645m ~38% less than sea level, 12% less than they would on the highest climb in the Tour de France (Col Agnel @ 2744m) and 21% less than they would at the legendary finish of Alpe d'Huez (1850m).
It's not to say that these climbs are harder as they simply start from higher altitudes, but its the fact of getting less oxygen through the system where the serious damage to the legs begins.
(As a side note it's this acclimatization concept that is at the core of Lance Armstrong's defense against using drugs, basically saying his body became used to getting this lesser amount of oxygen and both built up more tolerance to not having oxygen as well as becoming better at getting more air in each breath).

That still doesn't explain the presence of synthetical (artificial) EPO in his urine samples. |

Yes, good performance. He certainly wants to show something.
Bad TT by Basso again.
Basso is not a good TT'er normally, and especially not on prologues.
There were times he could do a decent TT. Now he barely does a top-30. |

Here's a fun thing to think about.
Danny Pate was yesterdays most aggressive rider.
HOW DO YOU BE AN AGGRESSIVE IN A PROLOGUE TT??!!??

But that's how it works in the Tour too, doesn't it?

We award the final most aggressive rider price to a Frenchman, but at least we don't give aggression rewards out for TTT and prologues, do we ? |

Hesjedal goes full blast, then pulls off, three seconds later Danielson cracks and starts moving back.

What was Frank doing there? Attacking and then absolutely no power to counter.
And Andy in his typical "I don`t care about these races" style finishes together with the great climber Gretsch. |

In other news, the stage sucked until the final.
And Americans really can't do cycling tv coverage.

My point was that was 4 years ago and he's not as good anymore.
And he isn't a great climber that was a 2.5km climb
Edit:
And what was the gradient? The un-steepness dropped Andy
