Santos Tour Down Under, 6th stage
Profile
Last stage of Tour Down Dnder could be very nervous, as Mark Cavendish is no more then 2 seconds behind Tyler Farrar in GC. HTC made great team job so far, but so did Garmin. Grega Bole will fight for bonus seconds and Alessandro Spezialetti is ready to defend the lead in KOM rankings.
It is sunny today in Austaralia and all riders except injured Marcus Burghardt are ready to compete in final stage.
Lampre working hard. It is important to catch the break right before the sprint point. It is risky operation, but that is how we are in Australia.
Unfortunately my riders are not able to catch the last three escapes (Stamsnijder,Konovalovas, Urtasun) and they steal important bonus seconds, we must choose the plan B. Do we have a plan B?
Here is the plan B : Escapees catched and Spezialetti attacks to control the jersey. However he din’t get any points, he is now in the break and even more- he is the winner of KOM rankings. Besides him Garcia Acosta, Cooke, Westra, Gasparotto and Chicchi in the break.
With 20 kms to go, advantage melts down fast to 1.40 thanks to brutal pace of Garmin, HTC and Omega –Pharma Lotto. My riders are suffering.
Oh no, look at that!!! Lampre rider crashes badly and it is Szeglhami. Will it affect more riders?
That is absolute carnage, massive fall caused by our hungarian. Chiarini is flying in there near the boarder! At least 50 riders involved (e.g. Popovych,Rast,Mollema – none from top 10)
The victory is sure for breakway riders because of that fall, Spezialetti is unfortunately not there as he suffered a puncture earlier . Ignatiev is attacking out off the pack as Lampre tries to settle a sprint train. 4kms left.
Win for Enrico Gasparotto, he is clearly the fastest of the break. Chicchi second while Westra finishing third.
Greipel fastest from the pack, Tyler Farrar is the overall winner. Bole was today able to properly contest the sprint and finishes 19th. But sadly he finishes out of top 10 in GC on 11th as Chicchi jumps to third and Cooke to fourth thanks to the successfull break.
So Santos Tou Down Under is finished andi have mixed feelings. Grega Bole was not in good condition, he is fat to be precise, so 11th in GC is not so bad afterall but could have been better. The biggest achievement for us is clearly winning the KOM ranking, congratulations to Alessandro.
See you in Calabria.

Team Lampre-ISD riders
We are entering the race with two co-leaders in Grega Bole and Simon Spilak. Simon should be more likely to attack in the late moments and Grega saving himself for the sprint of lesser groups.
Vitaliy Buts is free rider and he should show some attacking attitude.
Remaining riders are here to help our leaders, all of them were also in Australia and have nice condition.

Giro della Calabria, 1st stage
Profile
Today’s stage is completly flat for 90% of the time, but in the end, riders will be tested at the slopes of the very steep hill, however last kilometre is flat again. It is ideal terrain for our co-leaders Grega and Simon. Also Seeldrayers and Sagan are the favourites.
Sun is shining on the riders back as they are ready for the first stage in Calabria. That should be to the liking of most riders, but on the other hand it is freezy, as we are still in January.
Vitaliy Buts in our shining colours attacks togethet with Locatelli and czech champion Bencik and they quickly build a decent gap.
D.Grabovskyy winning the second sprint point, ahead of Jarc and Lisowicz ,as the part of recently formed 17-man breakaway. The gap is 1.40 now and nobody from Lampre is there.
Lampre now working at the front with a little help from Quickstep, as we have 60 kms to the finish line. There are several groups up front, the first having the advantage of 3.15
Lampre now positioned completely at the front, the breakaway riders are now starting the final climb with still significant gap.
With three and a half kilometres left everything is looking great for us, Spilak with Spezialetti pushing the tempo and catching the break, Grega Bole also sitting there. Whole Quickstep team behind us.
What is this? I can’t believe what i see. This a double Lampre attack from Bole and Spilak. Is this the new national day of Slovenia?
Yes, it is! Great double victory for our team, perfect team work today. Grega Bole is the winner of today’s stage, Spilak second. There you see Seeldrayers sprinting for third while two Liquigas riders Sagan and Capecchi complete the top 5.
What a day for us. Finishing one-two is a great achievement , we will try to control the race in two remaining stages, both being very tough. I am of course very happy, congrats to our slovenian stars. The pre-race favourites Sagan and Seeldrayers are near, so watch out for them boys! Bole holds KOM and point jersey too of course.

Giro della Calabria, 2nd stage
Profile
The second stage of Giro della Calabria has even tougher profile then the first. We start with riding up and down the hills for 50kms, then similar long flat part, before contesting the day’s bigegst climb 25kms from the line. There little group of favourites should have been created there and after some flat kilometres, they will fight for the win in the uphill sprint. We must control the pace whole stage and watch out for opponents on that climb.
Here are Lampre’s jersey holders 5kms after the start of today’s stage. Grega Bole in yellow and Simon Spilak in green. O.Sheydyk from our continental partner team ISD-Lampre CT attacks on the left side.
Bencik takes the first KOM sprint ahead of Sheyduk. Another five man group of continental riders 50 seconds behind them, pack is another 2.30min back.
Lampe riders: Szeghalmi, Righi and Buts starting to work at the front of the pack with 80kms left. The advantage of the breakaway is now 5minutes.
We are at the foot of today’s biggest obstacle, very steep and almost 10kms long hill. All favourites are positioned at the front, besides our riders Seeldrayers in polka-dots and Sagan in white. The gap to the break is two minutes.
5kms to the top and Bole is pushing hard in the group, Spezialetti doing great job protecting him. Spilak with small problems now.
Bertogliatti attack for KOM points, as the leading group of 25 favourites pass the summit. Spilak and especially Bole still feeling good.
1.8 kilometre to the line and Capecchi on the left, Sagan in great position on the right and Bole in the middle behind Seeldrayers.
Just a metres remaining and three riders are figting for glory! Who will be the winner – Capecchi, Bole or Seeldrayers?
Yes! Grega makes it two in a row, another great result for our slovenian rider. Capecchi finished second and Seeldrayers third. Spilak took it easy in the finished and was classified as 16th. The GC hasn’t change significantly, Bole is still in the lead with Spilak second.
Another perfect result, Grega seems to be in great form. Actually he is always the favourite for an uphill sprint, but you can be never sure with likes of Sagan there. Spilak was not risking in the sprint, his second place in GC is more then enough for him. Tommorow we have a tough day ahead, i must prepare my riders for all possibilities.
