Europa League 2011/2012
roturn
Atlético Madrid
Udinese Calcio
Rennes
Celtic Glasgow

Now it`s official. Celtic will take Sion`s slot here and complete the group of death.
Bad luck now as Celtic would have been in a pot1 or pot2, while Sion was pot3 or pot4.

Aquarius
Rennes were pot 3, so Sion were definitely pot 4.

Everything was settled on pitch, so Celtic get what they deserved by having group as hard as this.

I didn't follow football for a long time but i'm from Paris so this year I hope PSG will won Europa League.
They have great player this year and depth in their roster so they can compete in french championship and europa league

@I_Mayo: Celtic sure, but Athletico and Udinese would have prefered a weak team instead of another group favourite I think. Even if they are no longer the 1995-2005 Celtics. So a bit unfair/unlucky for them to have such a strong group.

@alex-sonic: I hope they won`t. I don`r like this "Rich man buys a club and spends lots of millions to be successful" style. Especially in England and Spain this is quite common. Obviously France is coming next. Pretty happy that this isn`t really possible in the German league with the 50+1 rule.
So I hope fór another winner.

Roturn, I really don't think Udinese and Atletico sees a big difference between Sion and Celtic at this point. Yes, Celtic is more prestigious, but their game has been so bad back from last year, that for me at this moment they aren't much more than an average European club.

And btw, Atletico this year will be great. Additions of Turan, Falcao and Diego are great and to me not only covers loss of the Forlan and Aguero, but also makes this team even better than last year.

Time will tell I think. I follow the Scottish league too less to know about their exact strength. Wink
Athletico will indeed be one of the top favourites for the win this year. But Forlan and Aguero left the club, so a big questionmark there, too. And Diego is just a great player if he find his form again he had in Bremen. There he was awesome. In Juve and especially Wolfsburg he was only average and had lots of scandals. In this form he won`t play much I think.
Turan and Falcao indeed great additions.

I didn't know that 50+1 rule. It's awesome. It's kinda sad to see how well managed is football in other countries as opposed to the shit we have in Spain. Well, is not like football is the only thing we're doing worse then the rest of Europe.

Well as you said, it's pretty common in Spain and England and Italy so why not in France?
Maybe France will be competitive with it and other partners will come in other clubs in France.
For me it is a great thing because France have great players but they d'ont have great clubs which is pretty contradictory!

What's a shame is that in some countries they can do credits to win titles, whereas we can't.
The figures of cumulated debts of the top division clubs si something like Spain : 4 000 M€, England 3 500 M€, Italy 2 000 M€, Germany 900 M€ and France 110 M€. We can't compete if can't spend as much money. And I'm glad we can't spend it.

PSG could help French football if they did hoem recruitement, but when they recruit abroad, it's not helping as much as it could. And I'm not too fond of billionaires buying a club, using endless amounts of money to buy superstars and get titles. It's a game. I mean a sport, not some sort of real life football manager game.

Talking about PSG, their transfers this summer were really well studied. It wasn't about bringing every player that's in the market. Bringing french players like Gameiro & super talented Menez was great and also paying only combined 9 millions pounds for Sissoko and Lugano is pretty cheap.

Meanwhile in Spain, Malaga imo made steal of the whole transfer period with bringing Toulalan only for 10 million pounds. And also this team didn't jump on every star on the market, but added important pieces as Monreal, Joaquin, Mathijsen, Demichelis and RvN very cheaply.

So I like in what direction this both ,now financially strong, clubs are going.

Actually Malaga jumped..
Demichelis was offered by Munich after he was unhappy.. First rumour Malaga was about getting him..
The same about Mathijsen and van Nistelrooj and even Raul who was unhappy at first wih playing diffrent under Rangnick as Magath was fired, also there Malaga made a bid for him..
For me thats jumping on every player
When you add especially just old players with a name like van Nistelrooj and trying to lure Raul out of Schalke.. Thats jumping

PSG played it smart, hiring domestique players in almost every line.
Then they got sold/bought and they started a second wave of transfer and hired bigger names. Now they've got too many players, and some of their new players who were hired to be in the starting XI are on the bench, or will barely be used (Douchez for example, Gameiro would have been another one had they hired another top goal scorer like they tried to).

That's it, I've got my three tickets for the matches against Atletico, Celtic and Udinese.
Not that expensive either (that's the good thing with matches on Thursdays, prices are lower to bring some crowd).

This!
The 50+1 rule should be applied to all leagues, to help save football from being ruined by those bored oil fantasillionaires.

Also...add a rule that requires the starting line-up to contain at least 7-8 players who are "home grown" at the club/nation, and we might also get rid of the insane transfer/salery amounts, which in turn allows more than the usual 6 clubs a chance to win something in Europe each season.

Imo, it's pretty much a disgrace how so many huge clubs go into debt to spend ridiculous amounts of money to buy a single player, not to mention the playerrs who earn enough money per week to afford suppporting a small country on their own.

Oh, and speaking of debts...Why is it that UEFA denied Mallorca access to Euro League because of their debt, while clubs like Barcelona (with far bigger debts) are still allowed in UEFA Champions League?

Aquarius
Because debt is one thing, but prospects are another. I'm not aware of the story, so I'm just speculating though.
Barce has a bigger debt, but also win more money, and their facilities, players and staff, could potentially be sold for huge amounts of money, more than what it'd take to cover their debt. I suppose it's not Mallorca's case though.

Il Grillo
If we keep on playing like today, which i dont hope, we really need a big center striker.

The story is pretty simple actually. Barça pays their bills, while Mallorca doesn't.

Celtic 1-0 down already only 2mins gone.
