@VladuuTs: You can see them in the introduction of the story.
@BikeRoel: Thank you, but I will go with Koldo Fernandez as team leader so we won't fight for GC. |

(2.1) Vuelta a Mallorca - Stage 1
Palma - Palma (113kms)
Report
The stage was really crazy in the city of Palma. The sprinter's teams didn't want to let any breakaways and we didn't try to enter in it. With 76kms to the finish A.Marque (Onda) escaped but he was controlled, always between 1'00 and 1'30.
With 30kms to go, he was joined by S.Clarke (Astana) and M.Burghardt (BMC) but the pack was really close and controlling the difference.
The pack pressed very strong to catch the BOTD while roading through the coast of Palma de Mallorca. A massive sprint finish would decide the stage winner.
Garmin was there for Farrar with Rabobank working for Freire, but it was Marko Kump (Geox - TMC) who took the victory and the overall lead.
Koldo was not able to follow the speed and Urtasun finish in front of him in 15th position.

Good opening stage. Sicard should be good bet for a breakaway victory on either stage 3 and 4. I found that every time breaks are caught on Stage 5. Maybe even good GC too, good luck

@VladuuTs: he did an excellent job taking the win in front of excellent sprinters.
@BikeRoel: I expect that Koldo could reach a better form in the future.
@Alakagom: we are going to try it with Romain. We know we are not fighting for the GC, so may be we could save legs in stage 2 or 3 and shut our fireworks in stage 4 and 5.
Thank you all for you comments! |

(2.1) Vuelta a Mallorca - Stage 2
Cala Millor - Cala Millor (172.1kms)
Report
Several groups tried to escape, but the big group didn't allow them. We waited until the pack let a group go to try to enter in the BOTD. That happened around kilometer 50, when Alan Pérez escaped from the peloton trying to reach the breakaway.
A group of 12 riders formed the BOTD, I.Erviti (Movistar), L.Á.Maté (Cofidis), F.Beppu (RadioShack), F.Ferrari (Caja Rural), J.V.Toribio (Andalucía), V.H.Peña (Colombia), R.Ferrari (Androni), L.Westra (Vacansoleil), D.Livramento (Tavira), B.Pinto and S.Pérez (Barbot) and Euskaltel-Euskadi Alan Pérez.
The bunch leaded by Garmin, Geox and Rabobank pushed hard for their leaders, Farrar, Kump and Freire.
With 10kms. to go the adventure was over and the mass sprint was a fact. Garmin did a great job and Tyler Farrar took the victory over Marko Kump and Oscar Freire.
Koldo was in better shape today and he finished 9th today. May be this was his last chance in Mallorca, because the last three stages will be for stronger riders.

@BikeRoel: Thanks!
@tsmoha: Thank you! I try not only to show the race, and add a bit of good landscapes in them. Koldo will find the results soon, he's really good sprinter with not too much help from his teammates.

(2.1) Vuelta a Mallorca - Stage 3
Inca - Inca (147.9kms)
Report
The stage started really hard, and we sent our both sprinters to attack to get the intermediate sprint's points. Several riders tried to join us, and two groups of six riders created the BOTD.
With Fernández and Urtasun we could see riders like M.Irizar (RadioShack), I.Erviti (Movistar), M.Quinziato (BMC), J.Jufré (Astana) and A.Vicioso (Andrioni) among others.
We didn't want to fight in the mountains with Urtasun and Fernández and we let the break go. The pack was really close and in the big mountain several riders attacked, Barredo (Rabobank), Menchov (Geox) and Löfkvist (Sky). They were joinned by Brajkovic and Paulinho (RadioShack), Kreuziger (Astana), Soler (Movistar) and Zabriskie (Garmin) and with less than 5 kms to go they will fight for the victory.
Zabriskie, Menchov, Löfkvist and Soler made a last attack and made a gap to a group that was going to be caught by other riders.
It was David Zabriskie who won the sprint but really close of Thomas Löfkvist while Menchov completed the podium in front of the colombian rider.
Romain Sicard lost almost 2 minutes finishing in 27th place. It was really hard for us to keep the pace and follow the big names of this Vuelta a Mallorca.

@Alakagom: It was bad, but could be worst. Romain is not a GC contender, he needs to develop and we should try a stage win with him in the final stages. |

(2.1) Vuelta a Mallorca - Stage 4
Deia - Deia (136.6kms)
Report
Problems loading the stage (Road Geometry stuff) made it impossible to play this stage. I simulated with details and Vinokourov joined Pidgornyy in the BOTD and reach an advantage of 3 minutes. The tactic of the day was to attack 50kms to the finish, but Romain didn't have the legs to try it. The break manage to keep the favourite's group behind and Vino powered Vacansoleil guy in the sprint.
Sicard entered in the third group, 2'20 behind the Astana rider, in the 16th position but moves to the third position in the U25 classification.

(2.1) Vuelta a Mallorca - Stage 5
Magalluf - Palmanova (156.0kms)
Report
After 40kms a strong break formed with J.Herrada (Caja Rural), F.Ginanni (Andrioni), M.Marcato (Vacansoleil), D.Blanco and D.De la Fuente (Geox), M.Burghardt (BMC) and Euskaltel's Romain Sicard. The basque rider is feeling great today and want the stage victory.
72kms to the end and Sicard is feeling stronger than his breakaway mates. The big group keeps the distance to Romain in 4 minutes who now has 1 minute over the second group.
The big climb of the day comes and Romain is pushed by the fans while in the peloton, Pablo Lastras (Movistar) launches an attack. He passes the second group and catches Sicard at the top. Romain is not able to follow his wheel and waits for Burghardt and Marcato who jumped from the second group.
The trio is going to be caught with 35kms to the line, and Menchov tries his luck. He's 4th in the GC, but Garmin and Astana are controlling the speed and don't leave him alone.
It's time for 3rd place, Barredo (Rabobank), to make his move with 13kms to the finish. Again, no luck for the spaniard who is going to be caught while Lastras leads by 2 minutes and looking strong to win the last stage.
An he does it!!! Lastras with a great attack takes the solo victory 2 minutes ahead the main contenders group leaded by Mauro Finetto (Liquigas) ahead of the Garmin guys.
Romain Sicard arrives in the third group, 2'53 behind Lastras and loses the 21th place against the stage winner. He took 22 KoM points today and reached the podium and also kept his podium in the U25 classification.

Message: I will continue with the story but I will make shorter summaries for non important stage races. I have really short time to play and I don't want to spend so much time for this races that haven't got too much importance. |
