Forget Igor Anton for the GC. Euskaltel will go for their first stage in the Giro. Probably he will lost time the first week (he said he doesnt want to enter in the fight of the narrow roads of the first mountains) and try to win a stage in the last week. (Probably the uphill TT)
Igor will go for the GC in the Vuelta.
If that is true, it is a shame. I was looking forward to see Anton vs. Contador and Nibali in top shape, through a whole Grand Tour.. Hopefully it is just some kind of a mindgame, trying to get rid of the pressure for a top overall placement. |

I see you talking about the top 10, but I can't see anybody mentioning Lars Petter Nordhaug. Why?
If i should chose a top ten it would be:
What I hope:
1. Vincenzo Nibali
2. Michele Scarponi
3. Denis Menchov
4. Igor Anton
5. Alberto Contador
6. Roman Kreuziger
7. Domenico Pozzovivo
8. Joaquim Rodriguez
9. Emanuelle Sella
10. Matteo Carrara
11. Lars Petter Nordhaug
Realistictly:
1. Alberto Contador
2. Vincenzo Nibali
3. Michele Scarponi
4. Denis Menchov
5. Igor Anton
6. Roman Kreuziger
7. Joaquim Rodriguez
8. Domenico Pozzovivo
9. Tiago Machado
10. Matteo Carrara

Yeah I remember in January he said he wanted to focus on the Giro because he thought the route suited him.
Edit: I guess earlier reports are wrong, or he's trying to do what Gilbert did at Fleche Wallone.

I'd love to see Anton doing his best in this Giro. |

He said the same thing before the Vuelta last year, I think he wants to lower the pressure.

I had high hopes for Nordhaug doing a great Giro, but he was sick between AGR and LBL, and he's also sick now, suffering from a cold. He says that right now it's 50/50 whether he starts tomorrow or not. That's a pity, I'm confident Nordhaug has great climbing potential, and now he won't be able to show it here, like he wasn't able to show his skills in the hilly classics, due to sickness.
Anyway, that's enough bad news It is all set to be an epic Giro, I'm really looking forward to it. Here's the starting order for tomorrows team time trial:
1 Omega Pharma Lotto 15.50hrs
2 Katusha 15.54hrs
3 Astana 15.58hrs
4 Androni Giocattoli - CIPI 16.02hrs
5 Colnago - CSF INOX 16.06hrs
6 Acqua & Sapone 16.10hrs
7 Euskaltel-Euskadi 16.14hrs
8 Rabobank 16.18hrs
9 Team Sky 16.22hrs
10 Geox - TMC 16.26hrs
11 Farnese Vini - Neri Sottoli 16.30hrs
12 Saxo Bank 16.34hrs
13 BMC 16.38hrs
14 HTC-Highroad 16.42hrs
15 Garmin-Cervelo 16.46hrs
16 Lampre-ISD 16.50hrs
17 Liquigas-Cannondale 16.54hrs
18 Leopard-Trek 16.58hrs
19 Ag2r La Mondiale 17.02hrs
20 Quick Step 17.06hrs
21 Vacansoleil DCM 17.10hrs
22 RadioShack 17.14hrs
23 Movistar 17.18hrs

Yes. Nordhaug had bad luck in LBL, didn't know that he suffered from a cold now aswell, then that's bad news. I think as you that he has a climbing potential which could have mad him a top twenty at this years Giro, but he has many years so we can look forward for him because I think he will be good. |

That looks awesome.
Certainly shows how popular the Giro is in Italy.
And by the way: It's here! |

I have a subscription with Eurosport Player until some time in 2012, yet it now tells me that I don't have an active account...
Good timing. Luckily, TV 2 Norge will show it. I just have to endure some Norwegian commentary. |

Anyway, 2 minutes and Lotto is off, I'm holding Radioschack as a strong outsider for the stage, but HTC is probably the favourite. |

I actually think Nordhaug can go for a top 20 and maybe a stage win. Stage 5, 6, 10 and especially 11, 17, 18 are perfect for him. |
