Tough one. Since I don't really follow football, I only know mostly Belgian footballers. So my favorites are Kompany (because he's a great human being as well), Kevin De Bruyne (one of the only intelligent footballers) and Courtois (I've liked him since forever)
Least favorite: Messi (I dig his playing, but as a man I think he's really dumb), Ronaldo (so full of himself) and Ibrahomivic (same goes for him)
Well, my selection is more based on their person than their football, but that was the question, sort of
I must agree with you about Ronaldo and kind of Ibra.
And Messi, in my opinion, is not mear as good as people think he is. As far as I know a majority of his goals are scored very close to the goal/inside the box. To me a striker can ever be the best player in a team if the team is to be successful. Yes, strikers often score goals and have an attacking 'workrate'. But when you look at midfield players like Ramsey or Arteta, who is a good example. They not onyl score goals and get assists but they do a hell of a lot more defensive work than strikers. Then you have defenders who stop goals, get assists, do a lot of runs up the wings and they even score goals sometimes. Then you have keepers, the most important player in a team. You can win a game without a striker and score goals but you will concede a lot of goals if you do not have a keeper. So you tell me who are the most important and valuable. I think its time for defenders or keppers to win the Balloon D'Or.

favourites:
goalies: buffon and casillas
defenders: ferdinand, vidic, terry and riise(love his shots)
midfielders: c.ronaldo(favourite player of them all), messi, diego, nani and anderson(all young and talented players with a bright future)
attackers: rooney, eto'o, benzema
Ouch, that's awkward. What a steaming pile of shite Anderson is.
Not sure if I have a favourite player. Wilshere is up there, as is Lallana. Infact, I like Southampton so much at the moment, I'll throw Schneiderlin and Luke Shaw in there as well.
I like Holtby and Eriksen at Spurs, Sturridge, despite my hatred for Liverpool, and Barkley is getting more amazing every week. Also, for FM reasons, Rasmus Falk. No idea who he plays for now or if he's any good but I signed him for Southampton from a Danish club (AaB or OB, can't remember which) for 1 million on FM12 and he scored 12 goals in the Prem in his first season, as well as about 15 assists. From midfield. At 19.
